I don't think it was Gener, definitely just Dean He got that solo in one go. Gener wasn't that drunk. He remembered what happened during the recording of Candi
I was never a bigger ween fan than I was when this came out in 2003. And the thing is I knew it was their peak, so I made a point to appreciate it all the more..
Just saw these guys in Minneapolis and it was legit the best show I have ever been to! They played a non-stop nearly 3 hr set and sounded fantastic the whole time.
Saw em for a second time a couple months ago in Denver and it was the same, 3 hours of peak performance. They ended on their patented fluffy complete with one of those building Deaner solos that ascends into the sonic sky. Best show I ever saw by a mile, best live act I've seen by a mile too!
the argus is such a masterpiece. It invokes something in me that feels very old from humanities ancient past or something. The bridge has a terrapin station vibe to it
@@childrenoftheabzu Well he talks about the argus being lulled to sleep like in the story when he was tricked into falling asleep and then killed. The lines referencing the eyes too make it sound like its referring to the mythology. It also goes with this analogy they are making about forced compassion based on fear, by using the argus mythology as an example.
Watching you guys listen to this makes the album even better than it already is. Hardly a moment that's not to like on here. "The Argus" is outstanding (and a clear nod to WISHBONE ASH). BTW, this must be the first time Nathan's not in a darkened room in any of your videos 😎 (Foo Fighters requests queueing up, I guess).

Chocolate & Cheese. A gem from 1994 that I love now as much as when I first heard it in 1994. And it’s dedicated to John Candy. It deserves an album review to round out the Ween albums. For now.
When I was in highschool, I would occasionally drive my Grandpa's Celica to school. I left my cassette of Ween's Chocolate and Cheese in the tape deck by mistake. He and my grandma drove from California to Atlanta to watch the Olympics. Apoarently, they listened to the entire tape, many, many times during the trip. My grandpa became a fan.
You guys.....I was watching your reaction to Live In Toronto last night ( again ) and now today another full album review. Fun side note; Umphreys McGee did an entire album of mashups that is frankly amazing. Like four songs you wouldn’t think jive, but they make it work. And that’s for every track. The album is called Zonkey and they do a mashup of Ace of Spades / It’s Gonna Be A Long Night that is killer.
I don't know if anybody has pointed this out yet, but the Solo in transdermal celebration might be the most punk rock thing ever. They were having a hard time figuring out exactly what to do for the solo, and they had heard word that one of their friends was working security for a venue where Carlos Santana was playing. So instead of doing the sensible thing and just working out their solo issue with their own instruments, they drove up to the venue, broke into Santana's equipment locker, hooked up all of his equipment, and recorded the solo for transdermal celebration on his guitar in one take. They got scared they were going to get busted so they put everything back and left, and the one take they recorded was the solo that's used on the studio recording of the song.
Really interesting, guys - nothing like I imagined. The only Ween I’m familiar with is “Push The Little Daisies” so I was expecting a whole album of that! 😄😄😄
Ween are so much more than that. They're so versatile and have song-writing chops almost up there with The Beatles (just more wacky). Check out this album or The Mollusk.
Did you do a reaction to the whole Chicago 2023 video? If not, you absolutely should. C’mon let’s get back to the important things in life - like Ween.
Devin Townsend got me into Ween thru his Transdermal Celebration cover (check it out). Chocolate Town got me hooked. It's a song I really vibe with while driving.
As an Atlanta boy, I'm going to throw my hat in the ring and assume that y'all are talking about Supernatural Superserious off Accelerate Yeah, they're from Athens, but they're our own
If you liked the first track, you might like Dean Ween's other group the Moistboyz. Also a bunch of great stuff and it mainly leans more towards that style
@@WelpHereWeAreOnRUclips That's right! You did, my bad. I forgot that you did a Moistboyz song. Dean Ween also has another project called the Dean Ween Group. Their first album is a lot of fun, I recommend their song (and video) for their song Exercise Man
Non music related post but just wanted Ryan's friend to know that Scotland beat France in like the 84th minute of the match! Never give up til the ref blows his whistle! 😁
@@WelpHereWeAreOnRUclips dky I typed that. All apologies. I thought the flag would diffuse things. Anyway, ween fans have the greatest disparity between a great band and the money they have made; roughly 3million each. Avril Levine has 70million.
It wasn't that they were annoying, they were just on massive amounts of drugs then. If ya cant appreciate those years, then yer not really a fan. Nothing annoying about Ween....
Fun fact: Dean and Gene snuck into Carlos Santana's trailer and recorded the solo for Transdermal Celebration on his guitar!
I don't think it was Gener, definitely just Dean

Gener wasn't that drunk. He remembered what happened during the recording of Candi
I think it was at the airport around 4 in the morning, Deaner knew the guy unloading Santana's plane for a gig.
I appreciate your appreciation for Ween, my favorite, all time, best band ever, anywhere in the universe and beyond.
At least one of the best bands in our solar system
Great catch on the solo in I Dont Want It. Gene took the lead on that solo, when they do it live they really amp it up as well.
As weird as it sounds, the solo in I Don't want it is my favorite Ween solo.
@@leeshamelsame. I found out it wasn’t a Deaner solo recently. Surprising!

"one of their best albums" is a phrase I always say when showing any Ween album to anyone lol
1:11:11 "I closed my eyes." well I just heard the news today, that's Creed's "With Arms Wide Open"
Best reaction channel for sure. Honest reactions. Ween bring a smile to your soul. Would love to see you react to the live in Chicago dvd👍

Well it’s inspired from the greek myth about the Argus, so that makes sense
@@aleks8063 Always wondered if that was true in any way as there is not reference to his most notable trait, his all seeing eyes.
