You can clearly hear SpongeBob and Patrick in the opening song. It’s like they’re talking back and forth. You can also hear SpongeBob in the chorus of Mutilated Lips. You can also hear Mr. Krabs in the Blarney Stone. When Stephen Hillenburg was trying to make a cartoon show that was “looney tunes under water” he coincidentally heard this record and it inspired the show. He got ahold of the band and one of the things they discussed was how the characters would sound. The influence form this record is all through SpongeBob. They even finished the first SpongeBob movie with “ocean man” which is when the show was originally supposed to stop. Just beautiful

Ween is such a damn ride. If you guys are considering more Ween in the future, Quebec is probably the most solid and mature record they've ever put out. Great album that still maintains that Ween weirdness.
P.S: Suggesting that "Ween" is a euphemism for "Penis" is very much on brand for Ween. Not at all an off-base suggestion

Oh boy, here we go. Ween is one of the best bands ever, all their albums are different, so don't judge then based on just this. They are incredibly talented and take not taking themselves seriously, seriously. Their lyrics rarely make a lot of sense but they flow like poetry - Mutilated Lips is a great example of that. I would also listen to Chocolate and Cheese, Quebec, and White Pepper for starters. Glad you listened to this album though, it's awesome.

I'd say that Ween is one of the greatest bands of the last 30 years. They contain such contradictions: they refuse to take anything seriously and yet they're capable of heartbreaking pathos. They are deliberately slapdash and yet their songs can be immaculate, polished gems. They love really stupid humor and yet they are one of the most intelligent bands out there. They work extremely hard at their songwriting craft and their musicianship and yet they portray themselves as stoner goofballs writing novelty songs. Overall, I'd say they lack pretension. They want to cut through the bullshit of life and laugh at the ridiculousness of everything. They're two fishing buddies from New Hope, PA who somehow made some of the best albums ever.

BTW, while the songs do sound different there is a nautical theme running throughout the entire record. Many songs are also in 3/4, or "waltz" time and that is characteristic of sea shanties and old folk songs. The Blarney Stone is supposed to sound like an irish drinking song, which also connects to the nautical theme

Part of the beauty of this album is the flow between the songs. I know it’s a reaction video and you need to comment on each song but when you do that (or listen to an album like this on RUclips where it inserts ads in between) you lose the impact of the flow of the songs and how they actually all blend together in a cohesive masterpiece. The way it pulls you emotionally and sonically is the magic of it.
Here is my recommendation on the order of Ween albums to give a newb to break them into Ween. Once they get through the first 5, they will be immune to the first two albums (God Ween Satan & The Pod) that will turn off most people who don’t understand the genius at work in the raw early days.
    1. Chocolate & Cheese
    2. White Pepper
    3. Pure Guava
    4. 12 Golden Country Greats
    5. The Mollusk
Now they are ready for anything from Homo Rainbow to Deez Nutz, the 30 minute live version of Vallejo, Slow Down Boy, Spirit Walker, LMLYP and so on... they will be fully converted.

I think you would enjoy their album 'Quebec' (which has slight prog influences), or the more easy on the ear 'White Pepper'.
Ween were so non-PC (and actually extremely talented musicians), I wonder if they would stand a chance these days - probably would not get signed by a major label.

You got a sub for this. You need to do a react for the album Chocolate and Cheese also by Ween. Then start at the beginning and do their first album God Ween Satan: The Oneness

Thanks to whomever your patreon person is that fed this to you. Have you done They Might Be Gights yet? I'm going to check your playlist... if not, highly recommend.

I'm sure you've been told this, but there are a million ween outtakes and a lot of them are as good or better than what's on the albums. Here's one of my favorite, an outtake from the Mollusk - ruclips.net/video/K65dRRa3GoM/видео.html
