The reality of financial responsibility is so different to what we see online.
Im 32 and live with my parents. I've only JUST started making eniugh money to even think about saving anything, and even now I'm choosing to prioritize paying my way through Grad School cash over aggressively saving my downpayment. Staying as debt free as possible for as long as possible is a personal goal of mine.

As a 35 year old, newly married woman and new mom, I highly recommend you moving with your mom immediately. And other cultures and other communities they value multigenerational household because it’s how you truly take yourself to the next level financially. If you can stay with your mom for the next 3 to 5 years, by the time you start 35 you’ll be closing on your dream home, and your city and you have probably traveled more than you could have ever imagined so do this next big move with joy and confidence. We’re so excited for you. 😍😍😍

I'm going ot guess that when you moved out before, you were super new to the adult side of life. Fast forward a few years, you've been able to develop a deeper/better understanding of what life's like for a woman. You're all "growed up" now so you and your mom are likely to have a better vibe that leans more toward friendship plus the benefit of a mother's unending love. Yeah, you may like your personal space but mom's not going to hover as she doesn't need to raise you anymore. I strongly suspect that you are going to LOVE this precious time that you spend with your mom before your forever move into your next chapter of life. I'm already happy for you and your mom. 🤗 Also, adulting is overrated in my opinion!

Moving back home was honestly one of the best choices of my life. You definitely have to set boundaries at first but after that its so much easier. It takes a lot of pressure off you. Plus I think its so important to spend time with your parents as they age.

Best tip ever! I recommend Marcus Goldman Sachs, it’s helping me save/pay for grad school. The money accumulated is easily accessible. I wish I would’ve gotten it sooner. Another option is purchasing a CD (1 downside w/ this route is that u have to wait at least 12 mo before touching it tho)

My tip for saving money while you're at home would be to save the money you would have spent on rent (as if that's still a bill). I've seen a lot of people move home to save money then they just end up spending because they have extra money on frivolous things.
My 2 son's just moved back home I'm so Happy that they did .. most grown adults can't move back home but mines will always be welcomed home. Prayers for your journey Sunny❤❤

When I was 31, I moved back in with my parents to save for my next home I’m in now. It’s a blessing to have that chance. It definitely was an adjustment from living by myself but it was best thing to do from a financial standpoint. Do what is best for you, always ❤

Honestly, moving back home is smart. I wish I had the opportunity to move back home. If you can do that I recommend it for anyone. Just try to remember to take that time to yourself and get away when you do need your own place. Communicate is key though.

I’m 35, married with 2 daughters and my mom and I were talking about getting a house all together to be able to save and although we want our own space it’s actually a great idea nowadays. First of all I think it’s commendable that you put your pride aside and realized this will help you. This economy is crazy! Some things I’ve done to lessen my spending is eating out less, and learned to be more content with what I have versus the urge to buy new all the time. I’ve recently discovered a love of thrifting. I’ve bought purses secondhand and saved so much… good luck with everything. I think it’s important to discuss expectations and boundaries with your mom since you’re moving back in you’re still an adult at the same time you must respect that it’s your mom’s home.
You gotta do what works for you. I am 34 and moved out at 19 for my peace and sanity. My parents never kicked me out but they just don’t understand quiet and boundaries, plus their house is too small. I would love to have someone to move in with to save money though lol. I’ve been living back home for a few years.
To stop the temptation of spending money that no longer was going to certain living expenses, every month I made sure to setup auto transfer for the amount my previous rent was between my HYSA, IRA, and Brokerage accounts.
Out of sight, out of mind lol.

A great tip is ….the budget you living off now use that as a price point for what you normally would pay, so with moving your expenses will be lower, so subtract that from the norm then deposit the difference ( what you would have usually spend)! I definitely agree with this advice. Always remind yourself of the reason for your move back home. You will of course have more money and it's very easy to see that increase in disposable income as an opportunity to buy more things - that type of behaviour won't reap the reward you want. Also, time goes so quickly - when you feel frustrated or you're craving your own space away from your mum, just think about how quickly 2024 has gone by. Before you know it, you'll be in your own home and saying "look what I've done with God's help." You got this!

Kudos to you for making the decision to move back! My husband and I live with my parents and although we want our own place, apartments are so high right now. We made the decision to skip renting altogether and to save for a home! We’ll have to be with my parents for a while as we build our savings, which honestly discouraged me a bit. But hearing that you’re moving back with you’re mom made feel like we’re not alone! I think if we make this small sacrifice to focus on saving, it’ll be totally worth it in the end when we have a beautiful home of our own!

One idea could be to continue to pay your rent to your savings acct (they have savings acct where you can earn interest, check out Ally) to help achieve whatever goals you want to achieve - you got this! ❤
I remember thinking I failed because I had to move home at 30 smh. Boy, was I wrong. The number of people who tried to make me feel bad because I lived with my parents was just MAD. LOL Save that money, travel. Sometimes, living with my mom was a little difficult, but we figured it out. ❤

I’m also moving back home with my mom for 3-4 months anndddddd although I love her to death lol I need some me time. I plan to get a membership at a local yoga studio to have an excuse to get out. It works out because the membership is super affordable over there.

Honestly, I love this for you so much and I know it took a lot to put your pride to the side to final say you know what I'm going to do what makes me happy and you know what that or this I should say is just a test of your faith and duality. It is nothing wrong with going back home, I'm 32 and have lived so many places due to the nature of my job and I have a roommate now and I literally pay $900 a month coming from paying $1800 or $1600 it makes more sense to down size and save so that you can accomplish all your goals. I do suggest investing more and letting your money fork for you look into CD accounts other bond accounts or even you and your mom getting into some kind of real estate. I’m so proud of you, Sunny! I’m 47 and married, but I have 3 dear friends in their 40s moved in with there parent(s) to save and have that financial freedom of being a homeowner. This was very mature you to think and decide on. As you get older we become thankful for having a mom to go home to. This is a blessing to you and just embrace this new journey as it doesn’t matter the age. I’m 4 hours from home but my hubby and I often think about moving back to be closer to our love ones and it would definitely be cheaper compared to the city and state we’re in now. Congratulations and can’t wait to see your new space and how you decorate to make it your own.

Honestly I just moved back on my own but I was living with my mom for 2 years prior. It was great and it honestly brought us closer together. It was such a blessing to because right before I came to stay with her I found out I was pregnant. Being close to my mom and my sister was so needed for me during my pregnancy and I’m grateful for how God aligned everything. I was able to save money and reach the most I’ve ever saved in my life. I’m so grateful for my mom and I’m so blessed knowing no matter what I can always come back home. Love you Sunny and wishing you the best on your next chapter!

Honey I'm 45 college graduate earn a good income its expensive out here rent is ridiculous these places aren't worth it homes are way overpriced if I had a choice to live at home with a relative I'd jump on it you will save thousands a year even with contributing to bills there it's so much cheaper than paying rent and utilities all on you're own smart decision 😊
I can say if you have the opportunity and an understanding mother then do it. It’s one of the best ways to save for a home. I tried and was able to save thousands of dollars. I’ve know coworkers that moved they family in with in-laws while they find a new home to buy. It may get annoying due to space but it will be worth it. Not too many people have that opportunity.
I moved back with my mom at 29 because I was with child and needed her motherly support temporarily. I stayed and now she resides with us including my other half. I’m in my 40’s now. There is absolutely nothing wrong moving back to save money. And there are other benefits to it as well. You have been blessed and will continue to be. Just continue to stay prayed up and you’ll be fine.
