You have to blend on the next color immediately without hesitation. If you move too slowly, the previous color is getting dry and that's why there's hard lines. Wet on wet is the most challenging technique in watercolors and it requires lots of trial-and-errors to understand it better.
Dodo sounds like the extinct bird. The way you pronounce his name shouldn't it be spelled DooDoo? I wish i could get another kitty. He'll mellow out with age, lots of age. For now he might be teething on electrical cords, teething on wooden furniture. Make sure to get him neutered if he's not already so he doesn't start spraying. How fun to have a new friend to sketch. You might need to take some photos if you want to sketch him awake. Kittens move quick.

It's cold-press paper with just a bit of roughness. Pen moves easily on it. :)
