At my rink; we try to rotate the diamond everytime we replace the wheel, but there were a few times since I started working we had to replace the diamond halfway of a wheel because of a damaged and a worn/rounded diamond
At my rink zamboni drivers and our skate guards do skates. We pretty much only use the ruby stones, and as far as the diamond we pretty much use them as long as possible until it starts to show visible wear.
I’m not sure if the comments on this video but I am in dire need of assistance. We had our Mgr leave and since then no one has been able to order the same wheel. The new ones need to be dressed after every single pair. We are using a ruby 80 grit
I've been learning how to sharpen skates but I'm not very good at it yet, I would love to see maybe a tutorial type video... or anything more in-depth where you're actually sharpening skates, maybe changing the wheel, etc... could be pretty useful for someone like me! I do know that the wheel we have is green, whats the difference between the different colors? Is it just different grit?
I hear the pink one is great for figure skates. Same with the green. The gold is the most expensive. Best to call blasemaster and ask which one they recommend for what you want.
Let me know in the comments how often you rotate the diamond dresser and which grinding wheel you prefer.

I got some newbies so I rotate the diamond often because they lop off the diamond all the time. Otherwise standard would be close to once a wheel.

Honestly, I just got anew diamond bit, and I already notice the difference. I had the old one for 2 years.
It's like night and day. It's amazing how better of an edge one can get on the blade.

Yes and and different types of abrasives.
Nice job. We were told because of budget reasons, to replace the diamond tip when you see sparks....LOL. I think that is a little excessive.
Sounds like we are in the same boat.
Hello,
I'm interested in the "premium grinding wheel".
What is the best performance grinding wheel for you if you choose it regardless of price?
