got sea monkeys for my kids many many years ago. they did well and lived a few months before the tank was empty. i left the tank sitting undisturbed for a while to be sure they were all dead. after a few weeks, i decided it was time to clean the tank and put it away when i noticed movement in the water. the little blighters had bred and the eggs had hatched. i had more in the end than we started with. they are great pets for kids and need minimal care.
Poor little bastards, we knew they would not make it. I had a moment for them. On a positive note I really enjoy the jarrarium episodes and such. Keep it up, glad to see you active again! Maybe someone can loan you some DT 1770's to review!.
also... too much space when just starting out, they have to ravel all over the tank to look for food and get exhausted. little water at first until they grow bigger and can travel further
Instead of gravel~you could have used sand or some big flat rocks for the bottom for decoration. (A few) so that they wouldn't get squished. They thrive in warmer places. The cold will indeed kill them. So make sure they stay around 80-82 degrees which can be done by placing them in a window seal (avoid direct sunlight) and try to hatch them in the summer months. Year round they still need warmth though. As for oxygen, the best thing for that is algae! Allow their tank to grow algea. Gross I know. If you want them to thrive they need lots of algea. Just throw this out and try again. Next time keep try keeping it more simple for them. Unfortunately brime shrimp are not really for show aquariums. If you want that you need to just buy some gold fish 😆
IN my planted bowl I have 100s of copepods that suddenly appeared from no where I guess they lived either on the plants or in the soil and having no predator has meant their population can grow rapidly.
there is another important thing. In such a small volume of water, just that tiny bit of evaporation we can see could be what killed them. As you know, water evaporates... but everything else stays down, like the salt, more salt in less water. To be fair, its also fairly common for the sea monkeys to hatch and thrive the first 7 days and then start a brutal apocalipsis where you see only a few, from hundreds, alive. With or withouth changes in T° etc
Maybe a heat band like fermenting beer kits come with ... or 4 all i know their might be heat bands for tanks ..,,(i dont know how I got on to watch sea monkeys )..
People raise them outside in cold weather.. Salinity and nutrients or food might be factors I their demise.. I read that low salinity affects growth and mortality. Was surprised that they could be hatched with only brackish conditions.
What you should try instead of sea monkeys is triops. They are AWESOME!! And big so you can see them clearly and they are lively. Check them out they are REALLY cool and fun to watch. I got a pack of eggs from EBAY years ago and loved them when I had them. But that was in NY so when I moved here to PR I couldnt bring them with.
Hey buddy, I know you did this video 4 years ago but my kids just got into Sea Monkeys and I was wondering what food to feed them after the 3rd foot packet is finished? I heard powered algae food or brine-shrimp food?
Someone said you can get it at a health food store super cheap...it starta with an s....cant remember its like 80cents.. Or you can order more food for 8 bucks drom the company that makes it but takes 4-6 weeks to get there.

Some people grow their fairy shrimp in a sort of nursery, until they are mature enough to survive in the main habitat.

This is a great video on how to "out-gas" and then freeze your little miracles of life in 4 days! Good good job Poindexter! 😃

It's survival of the fittest
He knows that he needs to feed the sea monkeys on the third or fourth day of their lives, right?
Give them oxygen with a dropper, pipen air into the water and they’ll be able to breathe.

6 Celsius is a nice fall day for me oml. Those would never come close to survivng the -30 C winter nights we can get here.
How are you going to do a water change without losing your live fish food?
R.i.p
First 7-10 days 25c is imperative for hatching and survival.
Mine didnt even hatch I waited two weeks. My house syatys fearly warm. ( my family doesnt like the cold ) I was so dissapointed
You earned a subscriber!
I say sacrifice this lot to change the water - collateral damage, just don't get too attached to the chaps..
+Mr2pint yeah, looks like that's the plan :P
I like the tank. Watched the tank making video to
Turn the heater on?.....
Java fern needs to be in the water

Rest In Peace
I think my last sea monkey died after I changed the water. ☹️
Aren't "submerge" and "immerse" the same meaning?
But what gave birth to all the eggs
GODZILLA
AAHHHHH!!!!!!
Oh silence 😂 😉
Where did you get the vase ?
I had high hopes😭🧜♂️
Use sand or dirt for the ecosystem i think it would be better .
:(

How sad
