Do you actually have to drive the car to get the code to come back? Wouldn't it just immediately come back even at idle, or are there situations where misfires only happen at higher RPMs?

Why does a blown headgasket damage a rod bearing?
The coolant and water cannot be compressed like air and atomized fuel. So the force hits the piston like a hammer and travels through the rod to the softest item in the system the rod bearing.
