JESUS. CHRIST. Seeing Peter almost DIE at the hands of Kraven (during their FIRST official meeting) as both MJ and Harry watched in horror……… was one of the most GENUINELY SHOCKING MOMENTS in the entire game. I didn’t cry (because I knew Peter HAD to live in order for the game to go on)........... but as I watched this scene for the very first time……………… I actually had to set down my controller to cover my open mouth with my right hand and my quickly-beating heart with my left............... because this was the FIRST TIME IN A VERY LONG TIME that a Spider-Man story had GENUINELY threw me a GUT PUNCH STRAIGHT THROUGH THE HEART (and not even Aunt May’s death and/or Tobey Maguire Peter’s POTENTIAL death in Spider-Man: No Way Home hit me THIS EMOTIONALLY HARD when they REALLY SHOULD’VE). All this time…… I was just somewhat impatiently waiting for Kraven and Spider-Man to FINALLY MEET in person………………… and guess what? The first thing the Kraven does upon that first meeting…………… is kill Spider-Man…… with little to effort OR emotion. CUE MY BIGGEST SHOCKED AND HEARTBROKEN FACE in ALL my years of gaming AND being the HUGE Spider-Man fan that I’ve always been. JESUS CHRIST. THANK THE HEAVENS Harry knew EXACTLY what to do by transferring his symbiotic “cure” suit over to Peter………… but yeah, I HAD to stop playing immediately after that, NOT JUST because I had been playing for nearly 3 HOURS up to that point, but also to process EVERYTHING I had just witnessed.
I saw this scene in a leak and man I was sad, almost teary eyed even though I knew that he wasn't going to die. It's the music and MJ and Harry's reactions that sell the scene for me.
To be fair, Harry transferring the symbiote over to Peter wasn't exactly of his own volition; it was the Symbiote itself that was doing the reviving. Harry even explains later that he didn't know how the transferral happened, since during that brief moment he wasn't in full control of the symbiote being too distracted mourning the apparent death of his lifelong best friend. I do agree, though, this scene definitely hits you like a truck.
That puddle of water definitely should have been filled with Peter’s blood. (It also shows off the PS5’s ray tracing power.) In fact, I bet it was planned to, but ESRB said no. Too bad, because if he had visibly lost a ton of blood, it would really add to the desperation of the whole scene.
Why haven't you fanboys done research about being nerfed? Superheroes like Spider-man and Batman still lose battles sometimes, and they come back stronger. Sadly, you won't believe me then I'll leave you do it.
This scene man was intense. Shocked me a lot when Peter almost died. They did such a good job of using the symbiote now.
