They were banished to hell in the Japanese version (stated by Bakura), while still alive. So either they died to something in there at some point, are just constantly hiding and surviving on scraps, or are making themself useful by carrying out deeds for a wicked being in there. I'm assuming regardless they were released (and revived if they did die in there) and came back when Bakura lost to Yami Marik in their Shadow Game game, since it seems all the penalties you inflicted are revoked if you lose in a Shadow Game. That or they were brought back when Zork died with Yami Bakura fully.
In the manga, they are just dead, there did not need to be a follow up to that. The anime physically sending them to hell probably did tho, but hell as a place and concept did not come back until 5DS.

One big problem with yugioh is cards like Dragoon are 'noob stompers'. A good player with a decent deck will beat a new/bad player 99/100 games. It feels bad to start playing, even though it is worth playing

I got back into the Yugioh through Master Duel like a 2 years ago and, man do I hate Labrynth, Eldlich Snake-Eyes and Prime Tearlament. Easily some of the most broken Deck ever
I don't know the rules, but back in the day. Everyone agreed on One thing. You can attack a Monster and if it was struck in attack position 2500 would go down to like 1800, but the attacking monster dies. So if you turned it into defense mode it would have life points like that. So drawing a super strong monster wasn't ideal. You'd want to chain up a move.
Watching Yugioh is like watching Jojos it's a series of "aha gatcha" moments, every stand/deck is modeled after the persons personality, and every fight is a god damn 3 parter 💀
Oh, the game has changed now. there was always loops, 1tks ect, But far less and far less optimal. yes magical scientist was annoying but at least it was obvious. Now turns are 15 mins long and the game is crazy. Mechanical chaser being OP at one point, points towards the obvious, the game has power crept into a state of which 1tk will win.
Lmao I still use that Crooked Cook/Buzzsaw Shark combo in a Marincess deck. Frog engine in there too with Dupe, Flip Flop, Treeborn and Toadally Awesome just for chuckles. Meta? No. Fun? Yeah kinda

50:24 If they dont mention the name of the card and only say you can use this effect once per turn. It changes the whole effect. Since it mentions the name of the card that means only one effect of a card with that name can be used per turn. But if its name is not mentioned and it says you can only use this cards effect once per turn; you could possibly use another copy of the same card again in that same turn. There is a reason for all the madness.

My cousin made a deck using red eyes dragoon where he banished it then special summoned on the first turn and I literally paid him $120 (as a kid $20 was huge) for it, then I found out it wasn't allowed at my locals after HE USED IT.

My main series is following story arcs and doing tournaments based on those, now on my twitch and vods i started my Reduel series. I take characters from all over the anime, manga, video games to attempt to create a unique story.
I absolutely love the OG yu-gi-oh as most of us do. battle city was my childhood. Yami Marik was my favorite character especially in the Japanese anime. Even synchro and XYZ wasn’t bad. After that, I stopped paying attention.

Just my 2 cents... but duel links should be the new competitive modern format, it's really well done. Simple to learn but can be as complex and competitive as you want it to be. And have Master duel as some crazy format to really see the potential of the cards. Yu-Gi-Oh just needs organization. It could potentially be a really dialed in game if someone just took the reins
Do you actually pretend that duel links didn't had some messy tier zero meta for decent amount of time? And as far I see, tier zero in Duel Links was worse than tier zero in Master Duel, OCG and TCG
@19:49 actually thats WRONG! the rules absolutely made sense, it's just because Duelist Kingdom story was written before the card game came out. Duelist Kingdom was made based off the 1998 Yugioh video game released only in Japan at the time where the video game rules break down the "duelist kingdom" rules very well. And when it came to the USA , we got the official card game soon after and it didn't translate at all. Edit: What killed Yu-Gi-oh is the fact that the anime stopped focusing on the ancient past-modern connection and mysticism-mythology themes and instead went full steam ahead purely into the soulless technology Ai aspect of the cards themselves.. while at the same time irl instead of making more and more "vanilla" monsters with more unique spell/ trap effects, instead they made more and more effect monsters to the point they ran out of effect monster ideas and needed to make new types of monsters all together. Synchro-xyz etc. If we want to fix the real life card game alone today we'd have to Essentially reboot the game and make 90% of the effect monsters into normal monsters and turn their effects into spell or trap cards, where majority of your deck is now non effect monsters something like mystic mine way less dramatic.
52:15 well nowadays the game is just about starters, extenders and handtraps .. and also really important, maybe the most important, the extra deck because those are the cards you actually want to spam out. if ygo didnt have that and the game would just rely on your main deck and you just throw cards at each other trying to beat each other up if would actually be still kinda ygo just faster. i started playing ygo day 1 it hit the shelves in europe and i loved it but during dragon ruler era i stopped.. i still follow the game a bit, some years ago even played some again, but its just no the same anymore and not at all in a positive sense. its a clown fiesta where you can compare starting hands between players and dependent on whoever goes first can tell whos gonna win. theres almost no skill involved anymore, basically everyone can win nowadays ( lowered / widened skillgap ) and that is on one hand the games "downfall" but also its upside. downfall because a lot of good players have left the game yet its more appealing for casuals / friendly for bad players.. and as in every game thats by far the biggest part of a community. so yea, ygo is still doing well for the wrong reasons.
The skillgap is definitely higher now since the game is more fast paced a single tiny mistake can cost you the entire game Back in the day if you made a mistake you had time to come back it was way more casual and more based on luck And it's pretty obvious when you look at the comments and see everyone complaining about the game becoming too complicated
@@cerberos1 a "single tinz mistake" couldve always cost you the game, back then and nowadays too. im still watching ygo content, im watching euros rn and there quite some misplays on the feature matches yet theyre unpunished if it goes by your logic. also i didnt say between worse players. between worse players it matters for no game.. but if you compare start hands between good players you basically always know who wins.
Why doesn’t magic and Pokémon have this issue? My boyfriend hasn’t played mtg since 2006 and looking at Bloomburrow cards now it all makes sense it’s all the same speed it’s all the same general vibe, yugioh has to have ban lists on their own shit and somehow the player base is way dirtier and degen than every other card game

If that is the point of the competitive scene for this game now to even enjoy Locals anymore then Formats are the last hope for casual enjoyment. I will never play high end YuGiOh, but even low comp. Tournies are Archetype heavy. And MTG chains function better with more common sense. Just adding that last part. Lol.

I heard in the Japan version the shadow realm is literally just dying so the fact they were never heard from again was cause they got murked.

Took me a year to get competitive again after 15 year break. Was hours and hours of homework to be able to play again.

There is a reason no one plays Dragoon but Branded players. and even then it's a sideboard card.

i started playing ygo day 1 it hit the shelves in europe and i loved it but during dragon ruler era i stopped.. i still follow the game a bit, some years ago even played some again, but its just no the same anymore and not at all in a positive sense. its a clown fiesta where you can compare starting hands between players and dependent on whoever goes first can tell whos gonna win. theres almost no skill involved anymore, basically everyone can win nowadays ( lowered / widened skillgap ) and that is on one hand the games "downfall" but also its upside. downfall because a lot of good players have left the game yet its more appealing for casuals / friendly for bad players.. and as in every game thats by far the biggest part of a community. so yea, ygo is still doing well for the wrong reasons.
The skillgap is definitely higher now since the game is more fast paced a single tiny mistake can cost you the entire game
Back in the day if you made a mistake you had time to come back it was way more casual and more based on luck
And it's pretty obvious when you look at the comments and see everyone complaining about the game becoming too complicated
@@cerberos1 a "single tinz mistake" couldve always cost you the game, back then and nowadays too. im still watching ygo content, im watching euros rn and there quite some misplays on the feature matches yet theyre unpunished if it goes by your logic.
also i didnt say between worse players. between worse players it matters for no game.. but if you compare start hands between good players you basically always know who wins.

My boyfriend hasn’t played mtg since 2006 and looking at Bloomburrow cards now it all makes sense it’s all the same speed it’s all the same general vibe, yugioh has to have ban lists on their own shit and somehow the player base is way dirtier and degen than every other card game

Kinda right kinda wrong? Lmao. Nah. You will NEVER see another randomly built deck that doesn't run it's engine around an Archetype in a tournament. If that is the point of the competitive scene for this game now to even enjoy Locals anymore then Formats are the last hope for casual enjoyment. I will never play high end YuGiOh, but even low comp. Tournies are Archetype heavy.
And MTG chains function better with more common sense. Just adding that last part. Lol.
