    Price of anything depends on demand, not features. Why do you think Gucci bags are so expensive even though the manufacturing cost is same as any leather bag?

      It’s jut weird, and if the body shapes are the same they’re using the same setups but with less machine time if they’re not cutting extra pickup recesses or drilling for potentiometer holes. I don’t know what their cycle times are but even 15 mins can make a big difference in cost when you’re dealing in bulk.

    I'm having the same dilemma between a pair of Eclipses. One is the EC-1000S which is black with Fishman Fluence Moderns. The other one has the same features but has finish in Woodland Camo. The black one retails at 1299 Euros while the camo one is 1599 Euros. I guess they're charging more for the paint job on the latter.
    My Arrow-1000 in Charcoal Black was 1600 Euros while I paid 1300 Euros for my Candy Apple Red One (same as yours)
    The pricing is outrageous.

      Yeah some of the finish options will add to the price depending upon complexity and difficulty. The andromeda Arrow I have is another example. Camo finishes, even if they have a pattern template, still adds to the work load. There’s things that make sense but then there’s an equal number of things that don’t.

    You have to incorporate looks and appeal for specific customers. I have the Andromeda but also have to admit i would agree to pay the same for the black metal version. It is a business, you are not paying the production cost but the price they decide to label their products. Some BMWs are known to fail a lot and be technically bad/problem cars but they look nice and people pay more for that car than for a more reliable and better car no?

    • @GhostDragon1182
      @GhostDragon1182  3 месяца назад

      @@NS-dd9ou production costs 100% is a factor on the cost. 2 body styles but one with 2 pickups takes more time and work to make than a single pickup guitar. If the Black Metal arrow was sold at the same price as the Andromeda Arrow the profit margin for the Black Metal would be far higher than the profit margin for the Andromeda. MSRP is usually dictated by the profit margin they wish to attain. For the andromeda let’s say maybe $1000 in materials, machine time, and labor and the MSRP is $1500. They’re making $500 on every one sold. Now for the black metal, let’s say it’s $700 for materials, machine time, and labor, if they want that same $500 profit margin then $1200 is perfectly reasonable. But if they sold it for $1500 you’re getting ripped off. You’re factually getting less guitar for the money. One less pickup and no inlays. The BMW isn’t an apt comparison because for one, I’m not saying these are bad guitars or unreliable, I’m saying for what you’re getting the prices are bad.

    Yes, of course production cost is a driving force in tag price. I'm just saying that basing the analysis around production cost doesn't make ltd prices dumb and as long as they are not forcing anyone to buy at those prices I don't see them ripping buyers. Is not that they are selling an entry level guitar at premium price. Are these LTD selling? If so, the pricing is not dumb. Instead it means they are doing a pretty good business job while still providing quality products. By the way, with the current technology they have at their factories may be routing an extra pickup cavity with a CNC machine is marginal for the amount of guitars they make an also maybe the pickups are not that expensive when you buy them by thousands of units. ....again (IMO) the manufacturing cost is not the right point of view when trying to justify or criticize their pricing (at least for me)

    • @GhostDragon1182
      @GhostDragon1182  3 месяца назад

      @@NS-dd9ou I am a machinist by trade and know how costs work and factor into a product. Even less time on a CNC machine is still a cost but obviously less depending on how long the program is. The problem isn’t that the Arrow-1000 costs $1299 or whatever, the problem is that for a guitar that has less into it is within spitting distance of being the same price. If you buy a car with 4 wheels, you wouldn’t pay the same price for a car with 3 wheels.

    • @NS-dd9ou
      @NS-dd9ou 3 месяца назад

      @@GhostDragon1182 Many people may actually pay the same or more if that car with one less wheel check all their boxes, if it looks the right way for them, if it offers what they want....that's my point of view. I wouldn't buy something that has an extra feature if it doesn't turn me just because it costs the same. If that is the case you have to extend the analysis to other brands making the same shape with same components at different prices

      @@NS-dd9ou you’re really reaching. If you’re cool with getting less for more money that’s on you. I discuss things that are relevant to my interests and as objective of a viewpoint as I can. I’ve done similar videos on Jackson and Epiphone and I’ve been highly critical of Fender over the years. I’ve even done videos explaining how I put my Stratocasters together and ways to save on parts. Upon viewing one video you shouldn’t make assumptions about what I have and haven’t discussed.
