Love that you shared the worn bills info! People need to hear this for sure! When I go to the bank to get tips, if they can't give me new bills, I just take out extra money because like you said, I know some will have to go back once I have a chance to sort through it. Thank you again for the candy bag idea! I've been taking Skittles and Starbursts for years, but having the bags and sticking the tips inside is genius and went over so well on our last travel! Hope you're having a blast at SCC!

Drinks $1 each. Room services (cleaner, butler etc) $3 per day at start and same again at the end. Waiters for dinner $2-5. If I get really good service or some sort of special treatment I might drop $10 or $20. As much as its a good idea to tip I always make a point of not tipping if someone has a bad attitude or is not helpful, but tbh these days thats pretty rare.

As a Brit this is so alien to us on so many levels. Personally i wait till the last day or 2 of the holiday and give a decent tip to every staff member who provided exceptional service. You find after a few days the service provided by some staff deteriorates if you haven't tipped them, so by waiting till the end of your stay only the very best staff are rewarded, and they are rewarded well.

I’m so glad you made this video!
Very well explained. I feel like some people do not tip enough or at all.
Whenever I leave a review, I always make sure to include a reminder to tip the staff members for all their hard work.

A long time visitor to MX. Please note that foreign coins are useless in Mexico. And remember the tip should be in line with the time / effort. A room cleaner spends 30+ minutes cleaning your room. Their tip should be more than the bar fridge refiiler who spends under 5 minutes.

OMG Brittney! When we were in Cabo in May we brought almost 8lbs of candy bags for 10 days and had none leftover on the last day! We also checked 3 suitcases so it worked out. :) We also tip $100 per day and that seems to be the perfect amount for the AMR resorts. Love your tips, thank you! Cheers!

@brianl1397 all resorts say gratuities are included, and what’s given is pennies in their paycheck as it’s split amongst 100’s of people. Most resort workers make $9 per day. So yes, I highly recommend tipping those who serve you.

Depends on how far you’re going and how many bags you have. $10- $20 each way is a good middle ground. Ask your travel agent what they recommend for your particular itinerary.

Hello!! We’re Going to Hammock Cove end of the week!! I saw your videos from your stay & what you bought/packed video. I ordered small “thank you” cards about the size of a business card and the little zip close baggies. I was thinking of pre-making the thank you/candy/tip bags ahead of time. Do you make yours when you get there? Also I planned to have either $5 or $10 dollars in each bag, is this too much? Should I have some $1’s?? When at pool or lily pads, Do you tip each time you’re brought a drink or food or at the end of the time spent at the pool?? I planned to tip our personal ambassador a larger amount on the first day rather than daily Thought in this??
Also what about when taking an excursion? Can you recommend a percentage ? We booked a private 6 hour boat and not a catamaran with others. Sorry for all the questions, this is our first time outside the country and first resort so any suggestions would be appreciated. Great advice in this video and especially the new cash comment! I didn’t know about the worn, torn or written on bills not being accepted so thank you!!

    • @MemoriesandMojitosTravel
      @MemoriesandMojitosTravel  8 месяцев назад

I’d bring ones. I don’t pre stuff the bags with money because not every interaction will be a $10 interaction. I tipped the ambassadors upon leaving. I never pre tip my butlers. I don’t necessarily tip each time. If you know you will have the same drink server then I’ll give a $20 when I leave. Or a small upfront, and a larger amount upon leaving. Have fun!

    • @jessicametzger4662

Thank you so much for responding and answering my questions. I really appreciate that. What amount do you think would be appropriate for a six hour private boat day?
And I have to know….. did you personally drink the water? Did it cause you any upset or problems? I’ve read bottled water is not included.
Is it difficult to get started in the travel business? Is there schooling involved or internships?
      Again, thank you so much!

Ya dont go broke trying to tip they appreciate everything you give… save that when you get back to the states and have a dinner where you’re expected to fork out 20% regardless of the quality of service.. tipping is retarded… if you order the chicken breast you pay 20% of the $30 plate ($6). If you order the wagyu steak, you pay 20% of the $300 plate ($60). In both cases the waiter did the same thing, took your plate from the kitchen and brought it to you….
