  • In this video we join the St. Louis mineral and gem society on a trip to Northeast Missouri to look for geodes in one of the most well known geode localities in all of North America. Hope you’re ready to see more geodes than you can count!

    Those are a lot of really pretty geodes and already broken open geodes! You all found so many of them! Awesome finds at both locations! Thanks for taking us along!

      Thank you! This area lives up to the hype for geodes. I was skeptical because I already find lots of geodes in the St. Louis area so I wondered what the big deal was but... They really are everywhere! Definitely going to have to check out some of the other sites in the area soon.

    Really cool video! I wish we had geodes like that here. Also congrats to the nice Crinoid calyx! Sweet find. Cheers! :)

      Thank you 😊 geodes and fossils are both common in my area. I think the reason I find so few crinoid calyx’s is because they have turned into geodes! I’m very happy with the calyx find hopefully I’ll find a more complete one in the future or a nice section of platycrinites! They are definitely out there! Now I just have to find one myself. Hope you and Nimh have lots more successful adventures this summer!

    Man, that's some great hunting right there. I might have taken that smaller one that was filled with calcite and thrown it in an acid bath. There might be some cool stuff under that calcite, all protected like. How hard was it to leave that giant one behind? I would have done the same, and then regretted it for the rest of the day. Is there a 5 gallon limit per river? Seemed like you were being careful about that. LOL, you got Gator Foot!! Great day all around man, thanks for sharing.

      It was $25 per bucket you collected and I wasn’t willing to gamble 25 on it

    Very very cool video , I wish I could have gone on this one ... I probably would have taken that big flat one , but thats just because the Grafton flat ones usually look good not sure to much on the Fox River ... Awesome video

      @dustinfindsrocks  Год назад +1

      Yeah I have some regrets but I’m guessing it was probably solid or mostly solid. The amount of geodes in the Fox River is crazy! We’ll have to go up this way again sometime together.

    Also, check out Schefflers geode mine in the area. Dig the 2 ft seam just above the hard grey shale. Loaded.

    I would have taken home every geode that I found and the ones I didn't want I would have just given away to people in my neighborhood.
    That being said , your family did manage to find a lot Beautiful pieces.

    6:30 What do you mean by somebody was breaking the geodes when they weren't supposed to? Since when is it illegal to break open a geode you find in a creek.

      Northeast Missouri. This was a special event with the St. Louis mineral and gem society to private property on the Fox River. Google geodefest and Keokuk for more information. There’s several options around the area
