I’ve always wished I started skating when I was young but I’m 15 and I just started now and i love skating but I’m always reminded that I’ll never be able to have a shot at the olympics or anything :(
If you love it keep doing it! Skating taught me SO much about almost every aspect of life and it's so unique in that way. Try not to get down about starting when you were older or not making it "big", there are so many amazing skaters who do not go to the Olympics or even nationals and that's normal! If it brings you joy, I encourage you to continue doing it, even if only for the reason that it makes you happy. :)
Hey! your comment is already almost 2 years old so idk if you‘ll read this answer. I started sakting at 15. And I always thought that I‘d never be able to compete, land doubles or tripples, go to the olympics. You know, It is harder to learn figure skating at an older age. It is an extreme intensive sport, and if you want to reach your goals, you have to work verry hard. In the first 6 months of my skating career I trained 1-2 times a week - which is not alot. I wanted more, I asked myself: What do i want? Whats my goal? When I had these answers I wrote my coach and she literally said: Luna, If you want it you got it. I‘ll fight with you for your dreams, and I promise, in a year you‘ll compete. Than I skated 4 till 6 Times a week. At my 16th birthday I started competing (A year after I started), At the end of 16 I had all my doubles, level 3 spins, worked on level 4 spins. I‘ll be eighteen soon, am in the Nationalteam, train 6 days a week, compete alot. I know, that i progressed verry fast. My coach always fought for me. It wasn‘t always easy. I don‘t know if I‘ll ever go to the olympics or a Grandprix. But I‘ll fight for my dreams. And I‘ll never give up. If you want to skate do it. It doesn‘t matter how old you are, how good you are. WHat matters is, that you have fun. If you wan‘t to compete, talk to your coach. I hope ur still skating. Wish you the best! Xxxxxxxxx Luna
@@lunad621 i skated for around 2 years - 1 year competitively - when i was 5-7 but quit super abruptly when i started doubles and my single axel. im 14 in a couple days and started missing skating like crazy a few months ago. i want to start again but im having so many doubts because of my age, cause i just feel its way too late for me to start and try to make it big. im a super ambitious person but despite that im also like very insecure and doubtful of my own dreams,,,, but reading your comment literally gave me such a boost of faith n confidence so i wanted to just thank u for giving strangers like me hope with their own dreams
maya joy thanks! how scheduled is it? my brother used to do that system when he was younger and it was sort of like a scheduled seven hour school day like public school but at home, is it still like that?
I did their "private school" program which was not scheduled at all... I was able to do all of my classes and work whenever I wanted to. There were deadlines for stuff but it wasn't like a scheduled "you have to be online at these times" thing
Are you kidding? The nearest rink is an hour away from where I live and that’s what has stopped me from skating for 5 years now. 2 hours of driving a day plus 2+ hours of skating... that’s a looooot of exhaustion. But I’m curios as to where you live... ? Because I know that in the US/Canada it’s normal to drive an hour or more to get anywhere... I live in Italy and even 20 minutes of driving to get somewhere is A LOT.
Definitely not! If you’re on Instagram, you should follow the hashtag #adultsskatetoo. You might not make it to the Olympics or Nationals or something, and you don’t even have to compete, but there are plenty of adult competitions. If you aren’t talking about skating, sorry! It’s still not too late for sure.
damn this hits diff when ur watching this in lockdown and now we all have online school
Oh my gosh your dog was SO HAPPY! So cute! - Lauren

Do you think I could go to nationals if I start at 15?
I don’t think so because you have to be 15 EXACLY to go to nationals and you have to pass so many tests and stuff before the nationals
You can do it. I did the same but in Germany. Well you can skip tests so its not that much. Keep going
Of course u can. Work hard and u‘ll reach ur goals
love this video !! keep it going 💕

I used k12 international academy! I loved it
