My Move to San Francisco on Southwest Airlines

- In August one year ago, I turned the page and began a new chapter in my life when I moved from my hometown of Pittsburgh, PA out west to San Francisco, CA. It was by far the riskiest and most life changing thing I've done in my life and I can say so far it's been alright. Change is always hard but is what makes us stronger in the end. If you're not evolving, bringing yourself into new surroundings, changing what you're used to, you'll never grow as a human being. I push myself to never be comfortable in life, and this is one of the biggest and most daring things I've ever done. We'll see where the future holds, but as far as this RUclips channel...expect BIG things! Southwest Airlines, as usual, was just as I'd expect from them and they safely, effectively, and swiftly brought us to California. Hope you all enjoy!

As a guy in his 70s it always hurts to see my city losing so many of our young people. Thank you for helping to promote our town as much as you did. May you find contentment on your winding trail. That is a sign of success. (I live 5 blocks from the hospital where I was born in the city!) (Did do two years in the military)

The interesting thing is that when I graduate college, I am considering moving to the East Coast for similar reasons you moved to San Francisco (I lived in California all my life). I am glad you allowed yourself to grow as a person and get out of your comfort zone. That's one of the most amazing aspects about you.

Welcome to San Francisco! I am also an ex-Pennsylvanian and I also used to work for Southwest. When I moved out here originally I requested Southwest so I would not have to pay bag fees and could bring 2 free bags and a carry-on for free.

I love Southwest, even despite their latest blunder of a week over Christmas. The newest cabins (new seats, sky interior and USB-A and C ports coming to seats in 2023) will revitalize the experience. Looking forward to your video on the move to SF.

Welcome to the West Coast! I live in the Phoenix, AZ, area, but it's close by. I remember when I lived in El Paso, I used to love having layovers at Sky Harbor Airport. If I had a long layover, I'd exit the secure area and ride the Sky Train. I hope one day to visit SFO again.

I spent 10 days in the San Francisco area this past summer. A few observations: 1. It was much larger than I thought it was. 2. It was very expensive. 3. It was cold in July, I don't think it got to 70 degrees the whole time, 4. It was sunny for about 10 minutes the entire 10 days. 5. The people were very nice. 6. Bay Bridge was cool. 7. Golden Gate was bigger than I thought. 8. Food was very good. 9. A lot of Tesla owners.

3. It’s hardly ever cold in July. As someone who used to live in the Bay Area for a long time, highs in the July can get up to the 100s, and lows are usually 50s and 60s. I don’t know if you are one of those short-sleeved folks who finds 60s to be freezing, but it’s never freezing cold in the Bay Area even during the winter months when lows never get below 40s.
I applauded you for moving across country. I am about to do the same...Kinda. I'm moving from KY to FL. So kinda cross country. But congrats (granted this was over a year ago, but congrats!)
Those seats are way better than the new ones. Way more padding. Much better especially on longer flights. Padding matters more than anything

I"m in my late 50's,living in a college town north of Houston--my dream is to leave Texas and move to the Seattle area--I'm originally from the upper Midwest and have thought of retiring back there but the cost of living and the goddawful winters they have give me pause. I'm curious as to how you decided that SFO was THE place to move--A LONG way from your comfort zone in PIT! Did you move to the Bay Area sight unseen? Did you know where you would live before jetting out? Don't know what time it was in PHX on arrival since AZ in general doesn't observe the time change--but flying from ET to PT you do gain some hours in the day--how long did jazzdad stay before going home? Are you still stationed out in SFO? Income-wise,one has to have a high salary to afford SFO"s cost of lving, no doubt rents are outrageous!

Lots of Av Geeks in College usually fly to college while some drive, others fly when on break but drive going back to school or end of the school year. This means leaving your car unattended for three weeks over winter break.

At that time, about 11 days before, I moved out from Washington DC to Los Angeles, CA. I too made my own video about that.
I have been to Phoenix a ton due to family in Arizona also Concourse D they have extended that terminal for Southwest now at Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport

Nice video, I’m from the east coast & been living here in California for 3 years now….I’m 1 hour east of San Francisco in Stockton California…..I visited Pittsburgh twice while living on the east coast & it’s a big change between SF & Pittsburgh….Pittsburgh is more family oriented & laid back….on the other hand SF is exciting but has a bunch of problems with homeless & violence….compared to SF , Pittsburgh is like Disney World

I recently flew to vegas on Southwest from San Jose the planes that i flew on going and coming back were the 700s the seat wasnt comfortable and yes the legroom sucked southwest should retire the 700s and replace them with the 800s or max

All I can say is good luck and stay safe in that crap hole of a city
SF resident here. We actually have a lower violent crime rate than the US as a whole and way way safer than for example Pittsburg or Baltimore. We have a ton of property crime (ie amazon packages being stolen) but violent crime is relatively rare. News and twitter tend to show only a small small area of the city while most of the city is the best place on earth. We have one of the strongest economies in the world producing great paying jobs with a GDP greater than all but 6 states. Also 365 days of 70 degree weather is unbeatable.

I grew up in Dover, Ohio. I live in Columbus(OH) now, but when you showed Dover from above I paused and found all of the landmarks that I remember... it's crazy how big it felt back then... thanks for shouting out Dover and keep it up.. love your content

the first flight in 737-800 looks the airliner took the older seats from 737-300 in put in the brand new 737-800 and save money instead ordering a new seats

I live in Ohio so move into California that's so far move. If I would move to California I'd have to pack everything in my truck I have to take everything I own I couldn't leave anything . I couldn't go on a plane I'd have to take my stuff but I guess you left a lot of stuff behind

I retired and left the bay area. Everything cost too much you must have a few million in the bank. High taxes along with everything else costing to much I moved east and now I have money. I had it with California draining my wallet. Good luck.

I loved the Monterey area in the 70’s when stationed there at DLI. I was also a fan of the Bay Area. I loved the people and the city. My last two visits there though were very sad. Total political mess there. The politicians have destroyed the most beautiful place I’ve ever known. What a shame to see tens of thousands on the streets in Monterey of all places. DelMonte mall park full of tents boxes and human waste. They should all be made to live with them in their tents and boxes. I’ll never go back. Being originally from Baltimore I get sick seeing that area as well. What a shame !!!
