Yep , if I was going to buy an expensive, least it is for me, tube preamplifier I'd love it to look like that. And that Sparkos , however good it might be, looks cheap that would be understandable if it was cheap like the Fosi. Suppose that makes me shallow.
I finally did a Schiit Modi vs. Modi Multibit shootout this morning. Moving up to the Multibit is like upgrading a cartridge stylus; it has better focus, more space, faster articulation, and more fine detail but its tone quality remains the same. Using the Fosi vs. the Sparkos is like using a conical vs. a Shibata stylus.
@Skunkie. I think you definitely have to give yourself more credit, especially where it is due. BTW, the Sparkos site has the Gemini at $995.00. I'm sorry, but I just think it is just way overpriced. If Sparkos priced it at about $400 or even $500, then it would be in running contention. Just looking at how that is built compared to your pre-amp. Just in looks alone I would be investing my $1000 in your pre-amp hands down. The tube coloring feature alone is the big selling point. But, you get an all tube, point to point wired pre-amp in an actual wood side cabinet. It uses fewer parts that are (probably) higher in quality.
@@SkunkieDesignsElectronics That's alright, either way, I just think it is too expensive for what it is. Did you ever think about reviewing the XDUOO TA-26s Headphone amplifier? It is all tube and has some nice shaped tubes. It is an OTL design and had no op amps. Best part is the price. It is $320.
Hi Stephe, For those that can’t or don’t want to wait for you to build an amp for them, have you thought about selling a kit with all the necessary components (apart from the chassis)? You might be able to leverage economies of scale to still make a reasonable margin for your time.
Kits will take MORE time on this small scale than building them myself. 99% of people wanted a kit are wanting one for major cost savings, most have no previous experience and of the two I have sold, I spend endless hours helping them work through the mistakes they made no having the patience to follow instructions and the other was sent back, with a bunch of the parts ruined, demanding their money back or they would reverse the charges on paypal.
I was wondering if you also did a comparison between the Fosi and Sparkos but using the Klipsch 600M. If yes, kindly let us know your impression. The reason I ask is because I also have the 600M and was thinking of getting the Fosi P3.
@@SkunkieDesignsElectronics so nice of you. I’m on a budget and if the difference in quality of sound is not that much, I will have to live with it especially considering that the price between the is quite significant. Thanks so much.
These 2A3 amps were hooked up to my speakers as I just finished testing them so just used them. no real reason other than I wanted to drive a tube amp with these.
The freya+ doesn't sound as good as the saga+ when using single-ended connectors. The Freya+ must use the balanced out to an amplifier with balanced ins to sound better.
See now I'm confused, I read some people saying if used with the RCA jacks the tubes don't have much effect, then I hear people saying they make a huge difference?
Sure you simplify your life with an integrated, but you will not be able to experiment with higher levels of Audio by trying different combinations of amplifiers. It’s nice, we have choices, be well and have fun😊
AAA++ for the looks of your tube preamp. It is stunning. Would like to see a pic of the tubes glowing.

Pure tube sound, sounds the best IMO. Excited to see your headphone amp whenever you have time to build it.
Personally I agree. I do think these have a place.
I feel like even though they are all tube pre amps they are pretty different from one another and are geared towards different users. Cool video!
The 4 pin XLR outputs two differential signals each (i.e. neither signal is ground referenced).
Thanks
AWESOME THANK YOU

That's a great way to describe it for folks who are into vinyl.
Front balanced is for balanced headphone connection. So it’s also a headphone amp. Probably a good one at that.
Oh it is!!!!

Yeah I missed it on the price. Should have refreshed my old memory lol.

@@SkunkieDesignsElectronics ah 🤦♂️ ok
That 11x14 Ilford 10 pack always grabs my attention. Please elaborate....
I used to do a lot of B&W printing in my darkroom. It's fun to see how many people notice it, or even know what it is!

I will do that and report for the Monday monolog! Also working on a Sparkos vs Burson V7 opamp comparison.

After listening to them both with the RP600M speakers, if you are on a limited budget just get the P3 and enjoy it.
@@SkunkieDesignsElectronics you’re the best. 😊👍🙏
Wondering why you didn't use one of your power amps?

I've heard others say this, but I don't see that info from Shitt. If it's designed as a balanced pre-amp, it should just have balanced connectors.
@SkunkieDesignsElectronics They convert balanced to unbalanced and vice versa internally but seem to add some grain to the sound.
Th Freya is highly dependent on the tubes. Reissued Tung Sol 6sn7 are the best imo
See now I'm confused, I read some people saying if used with the RCA jacks the tubes don't have much effect, then I hear people saying they make a huge difference?
@@SkunkieDesignsElectronics single ended on the freya definitely runs through the tube mode if it is switched on
Save yourself a big hassle and buy yourself a integrated amp problem solved
People LOVE mono amps! lol
