Time for a real comment! Christian in addition to how technically proficient you are, the story is wonderfully constructed. All the interactions from the characters paid off and really sold Toad being juggled around from engine to engine. While it feels so thomas-y, it's also very cerebral to see all the pieces to come together for a satisfying ending. All the reshoots paid off, but your content always looks great. Well done man!
Enterprisingengine93 thanks so much, Matt! I'm very happy all the points came across while still maintaining style. I especially was worried about the Toad switch-off, but I'm glad it reads!
Definetly didn't expect a CGI series-esque piece from you, but it was executed quite well :) Has a strong 'day in the lift' sense to it all, Favourite part had to be the brakevan exchange: Toad of all characters has never had a sort of rival or someone that looks down on him :) All in all well done, your layout is always something I like seeing more of :)
TheBlueE2 thank you so much! The "day in the life" quality was inspired by Family Guy of all shows lol. The next episode is more along the lines of the classic series, but with a few comedic twists 😉
@@ThomasFan247 way was Annie and Clarabelle worried about being replaced by Emily's coaches. also way was Daisy wearing less make up was she trying to make her driver's working day better.
This is amazing Christian! Every one of your stories are so unique. I bet the Reverend would be proud up in heaven saying: "Christian, you are making The Railway Series alive and running!" I understand you were busy so I don't mind if you upload your episodes a year later. All I care is the work you put into. I love how Toad was working everywhere, from Oliver to Neville, to Murdoch and to James! I think all the actors in this video deserve an award for collaborating a Railway Series lifestyle video. What I'm trying to say is marvelous work! :) Keep it up my friend!
Stumbled across this just now and what can I say, I loved every minute of it. The sets are amazing, as is your scripting. The voices are perfect too - especially David's voice for Douglas. All-round brilliant, earning you a new sub :)
All I can say is one word, AWESOME! Everything in this episode is just handled wonderfully! From the classic character interactions, writing, music, models, and voice acting, it just feels even better than the actual CGI series as of right now! Yeah, I kinda feel this is better Toad's Adventure! I can't wait too see the rest, this just keeps getting exciting, not only that, I really like the character pallet you got too!
Absolutely superb to watch. I can't believe a year has gone by since the last episode. This was a joy for me to take part in. It's very rare to get a script and to naturally burst out laughing due to its well written comedy. The dialogue was so easy to work with, I felt right at home with this story. Visually, it was another triumph. I especially liked the unconventional way of producing a montage for Toad. I see a few struggled to grasp the concept, but I and many others enjoyed this unique style. Something I'll definitely look out for again. Your work always fans the flames of inspiration for many. I am certainly one of them. You have given me plenty of drive to write more. I'd love to write for you too one day. Wonderful to hear from you. Glad to see you are happy again at home. Thank you for letting me be apart of this as Douglas. Next stop, part 3. :)
dcg12b This comment is exactly why I do what I do. Thank you for such a sincere, heart-warming comment. I am so excited to work with you again, and I definitely would love to put one of your scripts to the test! We will converse soon. Thank you again, David! :)
It's so nice to see something this well executed being made. It's great to hear a variety of voices being utilised. It's filmed really well (shots like 2:49 and 9:58 jumped out at me) and the sound work, works! I think the story gets a little lost because there's so much happening. It feels a little more 'day in the life' than I personally prefer. There's a good three or four different strands of plot I think could have been episodes in and of themselves and I'd have loved to see them get properly explored as concepts. I actually feel the characters speak so much for themselves that the narrator felt a bit out of place (doing myself out of a job, but food for thought?) It's great to see you making stuff again though! More soon? :P
tardisrescue thanks a lot, Dan! Yes yes yes, the story line definitely does a lot of jumping. I purposely wrote the story in a Seinfeld sort of style, firstly just to see if I could pull it off, and secondly because I wanted to adapt "Toad's Adventure" without totally copying it. This one is by no means a Reverend's tale, nor is it one of my typical stories, and for those reasons I was a bit nervous about this release. But, after secluding it and not juxtaposing the storyline against my previous ones, I'm pretty satisfied with. HOWEVER, the narrator will redeem himself in the next one, which will be in the works very soon :)
Very nicely done Christian! Your stories are always so wonderfully-written, it's a great pleasure to see how each one unfolds. I'll admit, at first I was a bit confused when I saw Toad on the back of multiple trains, but later on I realized that he was just being passed on from engine to engine over time. But anyway, I am very much looking forward to Part 3 of this, here's a wishing of dry rails and smooth running from me! ^^
Awesome story, written, produced , music (backgrounds), voice acting , producing and editing it ! :D glad that you're back on tracks Christian and I'm happy that you're happy aswell can't wait to see part 3 of it. and I hope it will be a great time to do your own dancing/singing troupe :) with friendly greetings, Fallux
Ahhh I barely ever comment on youtube videos but this was just TOO GOOD. I am amazed by your whole setup, all the beautiful models, not to mention the huge environments you put together. The story and all the characters and their interactions just felt...right. It was like watching an actual episode, which to me is very special indeed for a 'home-made' project. But I have to say that overall the humour was simply THE BEST. Dougie' conversation with Daisy had me laughing out loud this morning. "We're trrraaains Daisy, we dinnae have any hearts!" xD And Percy's face when talking about his non-existent brakevan -holy shit. You sire, are a genius, and I much look forward to any of your future videos!
Skarloey Rheneas I must say, your voice work was superb! Thank you for sharing your talent, and you know I'll be reaching out again soon about the next episode 😀
Yo know with the countless other Thomas fan related videos being uploaded each day and that I was busy with school and my life, I had completely forgot about you! But enough about me, your one of the best mate and this video shows it! Hope you find a new career in interest!
I was wondering how you were going to top It Isn't Wrong but I now see! Every episode just out performs the other when it's already above and beyond any goal set! I am just stunned with the quality of writing, sound effects, editing, and filming and I now impatiently await the next episode in the series
Excellent work. Everything in this episode seems rather witty and random. Really love the distance echoes you've put in there. It's all about location, location, location.
Two years later and its still amazing! Has got to be one of my favorite fan-produced videos. I just love the character interactions. You're able to utilize Awdry's character's, OC's & TVS characters very well. Its just so lovely to watch over and over, with the music, dialogue, scenery and just literally everything. One more thing, intentional or not, I found interesting how whenever the foreground characters got in an argument/quarrel Edward just so happens to be in the background casually watching. I.E. the scene with Daisy & Douglas or when Toad stops the runaway train. Certainly looking forward to when you release the next installment! Whenever it may be, ha ha.
Wow! Absolutely amazing! Love it! Very very well done, brilliantly written, great animation and great use of models! Makes the best of both CGI and Model series!!!
Wonderful video! I loved the cinematography and your animations are stunning too! I really loved the humor throughout as well, whether it be Annie and Clarabel, or the two trucks xD Really funny man, can't wait for part 3!
You deserve so much more attention :). This was amazing, and the sets and models just looked fantastic. This is one of the best Thomas fan creations I've ever seen.
Oh, and if its okay with you, there are three questions I'm curious on; 1) What time period does your series take place in? 2) Favorite engine classes? 3) What kinda broadway productions were you involved in exactly?
Have you never thought about filing down the edges of Boors face? The flat bits of plastic surrounding his face have always been somewhat of an eyes saw to me. Brilliant video BTW. Loved it.
AlSmithGaming thank you! I did consider that. However, because of his rough-and-tough persona, I figured I'd let him be a little rough around the edges, literally 😉
I just came across this and haven't finished it entirely, but I must say early impressions are good. Particularly with the filming work. It's such a pleasure seeing an RWS fanwork done with good quality model sets and a decent camera for a change. Extra bonus points for locking the wheels on the bauxite toad when its brakes were applied. Not many folks would remember a detail like that. This being said, first impressions are also that Thomas was being a bit of a jerk to all involved at the goods yard. And I do have to partly agree with Enterprisingengine; Clarabel is allowed to think for herself, you know.
sirrliv Thank you! Regarding Thomas and Clarabel, they were just character choices. Clarabel's persona in this episode in particular was meant to mock her recent appearances in the CGI series and specials 😊
I am always amazed when I see fan episodes like this, that use actual models and everything. Also, Thomas really shouldn't complain about Annie and Clarabelle worrying: That's the price you pay for dating sisters. ^_^
I'll be honest, the plot was less compact and noticeably more scattered here than in the previous installation, and I found it a little hard to concentrate on the diverse paths of the story. All the same, I'm impressed by how much the episode's carried three times along the Main Line AND the branch, with such a vast cast, yet not lose focus itself! The combination of the dialogue and angles give me true TATMR vibes without being too... well, TATMR. :P A plus by far. Boor's grouchy, disdainful nature is an interesting and rewarding choice for a brakevan character. Never seen one of those in a fan production that's such a bully, and that bullying type he is contrasts well with the humble, polite sort we know as Toad. Even though the plot was a bit more all-over-the-place here compared to in It Isn't Wrong, it was still a worthwhile watch and I got a good chuckle out of Daisy's fuse. WR Frank's face is something I hadn't seen used on Bear before and it does its job pretty well, as Tom does voicing him, and it was pleasant to get a glimpse into what Norman's personality is like. If you don't mind me asking, where did you get BoCo's horn sfx from? In a video of the Heljan 28 Class I saw, its horn sound is higher in comparison.
Angry Austerity Tank Productions yeah, the difficult part about this episode is that there are multiple plot lines. Honestly it feels like an episode of Seinfeld to me 😂 regardless thank you so much! 😁
This is brilliant! Love your work! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 can I find a track plan for your layout anywhere? Given me some great ideas for mine and my son's (much smaller!) project! Many thanks and keep up the fab work!
An amazing story, Christian. I love how this feels primarily like the television series during the Allcroft-Mitton era, with little elements from the reverend Awdry’s books peppered in. Quick aesthetics question; what are those coaches Bear is pulling?
PizzaZombie thank you so much! There were a lot of things that inspired this episode, and David and Britt definitely were two of them! Those coaches are Ratio suburban coaches 😁
This has got to be one of the best fan-series' on all of RUclips! I'm green with envy! I cannot wait for episode three to come out. . . well, it'll probably come out soon. XD One question, what program do you use to edit the eyes? The animation looks really cool, and I'd like to try it out myself.
Awdry be proud this is a great episode. Even if it takes you longer than you want the result is well worth the wait. I have thoroughly enjoyed this and after watching this I went back an watched it's predecessor which I found a treat too. I must also say David is perfect in the voice of Douglas here and I enjoyed your take on Toad too. I know all audio here was from actual trains and I noticed you were able to make long whistles into short "Peeps" as well as long "Peeeeeps" do you by chance think you could teach me how to do such sound manipulation? I have a project I'm working on and I want to be able to have my whistle sounds "play like a note on a key board" if that makes sense and I'm having the darnedest time finding out how to manage it. Anyway enough of my problems and back to your work here. Your layout certainly has a Awdry feel to it and the mixing of Railway series and TVS I find a excellent thing. Having engines like Jinty and Bear alongside the likes of Murdoch and Emily is fantastic in my humble opinion and adding in your own Like Boar and Norman just add to it. As for the video and editing I'd say both Mr. Anderson and Mr. Mitton would be flattered and proud that their art is in such good hands. Models scarcely look this good when filmed my friend.
Plokman040 thank you very very much! I'm flattered 😊 regarding the whistles, all I actually did was stretch them out/condense them using my video editing software - essentially I just altered the tempo of the sound file. You can use software like Audacity to do this as well!
Your quite welcome. I'll have to experiment more with the files I've got and get them right. I had a feeling it was Tempo after all we don't want to change the pitch we just want longer whistle duration.
Now I'm not going to make a comment saying how you're back, because I do know that you have a life to take care of and every time we have to wait for a new video, it will always be worth the wait. And I was right. So from what I've read in the description, you've recorded all the sound effects and composed all the music by yourself? If that doesn't say true originality when it comes to content creation, I don't know what is. As for the story itself, this was once again a thrill to watch. Boor brings some great interactions with the other characters, Percy was quite funny mistaking every 'Toad' brakevan he sees to be Toad and the various references to the official show (even the jab at Annie and Clarabel's interactions) gave some charm to it; almost like this was a real life event that the writers of the T&F based their 'Toad's Adventure' episode off (given Sodor existed in real life, of course).
Christopher O'Shea Thank you very very much! I'm glad you enjoyed it! 😀 Regarding the real life sound effects, I did not actually record them myself, but I did compose all the music!
So... when Oliver passed Neville, Toad passed Toad? And then there were more Toads? It appears the NorthWestern is standardizing its brakevan fleet. Or was Toad just passed around a lot?
Evin Karatas thank you! The headcode discs came with one of my Heljan diesel locos. The lamp seen on Thomas and James is from Bachmann Oliver. I used a small amount of tack or double-sided tape to attach both the discs and the lamp 😊
Clarabel is such a yes coach
Enterprisingengine93 WON'T BE YOUR YES COACH, NO NOT ANYMORE
ThomasFan247 Yay!!!
Annie and Clarabel are very sweet! ♥️ I know they are Thomas's coaches but I know them well!

Adam Bradnick thank you very much, Adam! I probably have one on file somewhere. I will get back to you on that!
ThomasFan247 that would be amazing! Thank you so much! 😀
Out standing work my friend!
Woohoo! Another part to this magnificent series!
This was such a great thing to see in my sub box, great job as always!
I can truly say that the wait was worth it. Great JOB :) Also would done the narration and the music it really fits :)
This video has inspired me to make my own story! But I don't know where to start...
Ah what a nice opening with Thomas, -OH HELLO VICTOR.
Wow, This is amazing!
Amazing work! The quality of your work is outstanding!
Thank you so much! :D
I love your sets this episode is amazing
Has no one noticed this takes place DURING Toads adventure? Hello!
Clarabel is something to die for XD
Tank Engine Studios 2017 she was so fun to act 😂
ThomasFan247 I can tell you had fun! It was a very nice surprise to be uploaded on my birthday too! Keep it up chum :)
Also your so good at detail just look at those tar wagons on toads or Oliver’s train
This has got to be one of the best fan-series' on all of RUclips! I'm green with envy! I cannot wait for episode three to come out. . . well, it'll probably come out soon. XD
One question, what program do you use to edit the eyes? The animation looks really cool, and I'd like to try it out myself.
GWR Oliver thank you very much! I use Sony Vegas Pro for both editing and animations!
Ah, alright! Thank you for the info. :)
Plokman040 exactly!
First Edward and now Percy who broke a crankpin
its a very nicely ritten story ,but i think douglas have said railway engines insted of trains?
Great Story!
Honestly, this is how the TV series should have been done 😂
who knew Victor tanzig was so good at voicing?
SOOOO worth the wait
TrainTank10 thank you! Unfortunately the next one is far behind in production...what else is new 😂
Take your time dude, do what is necessary to make part 3 the best it can be. :)
Regarding the real life sound effects, I did not actually record them myself, but I did compose all the music!
Absolutely awesome!!!
So... when Oliver passed Neville, Toad passed Toad?
And then there were more Toads?
It appears the NorthWestern is standardizing its brakevan fleet.
Or was Toad just passed around a lot?
Patriot Works Toad was just passed around a lot 😉
Is this going to be like the railway series and If it is are going to make more books
GGDUB Gaming yes and yes!
Where do you get your sound effects?
now i gotta wait another year for part 3
Potato HD lol no, hopefully only until December!
Really! Can't wait
I'm confused on why there are lots of Toads?
OldIron02 Productions there is only one Toad lol he went from train to train throughout the day. The montage is set up in a way so that it's fluid 😂
ThomasFan247 oh i get it! Also I love how Victor Tanzig played Norman. I hope he has a story of his own
Great video dude!
How did you attach the head lamps to the engines and where did you get them? I need to know! Love this episode!
Evin Karatas thank you! The headcode discs came with one of my Heljan diesel locos. The lamp seen on Thomas and James is from Bachmann Oliver. I used a small amount of tack or double-sided tape to attach both the discs and the lamp 😊
Well Done
Are there two Toads?!
Nickolas Montagnino no, that's the same Toad!
Can we get a video of the trucks lines singled out please
Mindcrafter1995 hmm that gives me an idea.. 😉
Your back
For the knapford canapy did you use the peco kit?
Yes, that is the Peco overall roof kit! And that actually is Tidmouth 😉
I know you most likely won't do this, but if possible, can u tell me what kind of whistle u used for thomas?
Where did you get Bear’s Horn sound from? Is it possible to use for public use?
superb modeling!
also are Jame's trucks just close friends? or are they...gãyé?
Bolbi Stragnavowski thank you! And that's up to interpretation 😉
the sets looks like real life
Shirley Lam thank you!! I strive for realism as much as I can 😁
