A fine piece of work! I can imagine scoring those passing shots were hard to capture but they were brilliantly executed. James finally gets a "named train" of his own, for a little while. ;) It was was great to see the ERS characters and stories come to life! The voice acting was great too. Brad has one of the best cadences of any fan-made character I've ever seen.
@@dillonohlemiller9027 Sorry for the most late reply but Jinty was introduced in the Railway Series aka the book series called "Sir Topham Hatts Engines"
You never disappoint me when it comes to your videos. Great job on the directing, the mixing everything! A great way to celebrate the Railway Series' 70th anniversary.
I'm disappointed...not to have discovered this sooner! Absolutely wonderful, and a real credit to the Railway Series. I think you've earned yourself another fan!
I like the attention to detail with the head codes. When James is pulling the express in the first part, he has two lamps, which means "Class A: Express Passenger". Then, at 4:49, he only has a middle light, which means "Class G: No train". That's either REALLY good attention to detail or an insanely lucky coincidence. Also, I really like James's voice work here. Top quality acting.
Finally able to leave a comment, better late than never, Brilliant production here. Not too familiar with all these SIF characters but letting them be and appear didn't detract me from the story. It was only til the end when I noticed how much James stands out from them all due to the bright red sticking out from all the realistic liveries! Heha, 'De-rail tour' was definetly the best line overall. Well done once again :)
The Extended Railway Series V2 represents a meticulous and rewarding effort of all concerned to provide a continuation of the Awdry family's stories. Some excellent characters - Brad included - compliment the established favourites wonderfully; I like what you did with expanding on Jinty. I am sure the Reverend would approve of you at SIF. I certainly do, and this tribute to the 70th Anniversary is an excellent continuation of it, and a Thomas-related video I enjoy coming back to when on RUclips.
Well you've done it again! Was absolutely giddy to see this in my subscriptions, and the video certainly delivered! Chock full of witty banter, humorous situations, and a story that blends these elements into an extremely pleasurable viewing experience. I'll also admit that when Edward pulled the train into the station, with his theme setting the tone of his triumph, I was grinning uncontrollably. Marvellous work Dan, Aaron, Sean, Lewis, and Ben!
Hey tardisrescue, I really liked Brad, Sodor Castle, Jinty, and even cheerful Wendell, but I want to know more about these characters. Out of curiosity, Is there a place where I can learn more about them, and maybe read more stories about them? Splendid work to all involved, one of the best things I've seen for some time! ONWARDS, INTO THE NIGHT WHOOOHOOOOOO
TheFatTroll Uuh...I only made that comment so Dan would post links to the ERS library for other people to enjoy. Wendell made his debut in the ERS Volume 64, 'Winter Engines', which was published in 2009 and written by Chris Sig. (Read the ERS, it's very good)
Absolutely marvellous, so far this has to be one of the absolute best 70th celebration videos yet. The visuals, voice acting, direction and most importantly the story were absolutely brilliant, I applaud everyone who worked and participated in the making of this wonderful story! ~Luke
Wow, absolutely enjoying it~ Clever use of score, I loved how the narration was shaped around bits of the TAB score to highlight the "original ditties". Also never thought I'd see Cudak888's pieces in other works again, great job~ :D I love the banter and conversations between the engines, it's just so natural and enjoyable to hear! The RUclips Home Guard approves~
BSM Iron (Panzer) Lawl Thanks. I'd never thought about the score like that - more serendipity than anything else! So much of the dialogue can be credited to Eric and Haydn, and improvisation from the excellent voice actors. They pulled it off incredibly well :)
I was really impressed with how you pulled off James' derailment in that. Trainz physics are pretty awful when it comes to trying to film accidents (and yet I persisted back in the day...) but that looked really good - you struck the balance between making it dramatic yet comedic with the various reactions to the accident. :) As ever, the writing, voice acting and direction were all top notch. Massive well done to all who were involved in this!
chocice1000 The derailment was one of the things that I was a little worried about. I think I only just managed to get away with it, and that was mostly by showing the crash as little as possible :P Thank you very much - it's much appreciated!
Honestly Dan, I don't know what you can't do, because this was amazing, and I like how you tied it in with the 70th anniversary of the Railway Series/Thomas the Tank Engine! And yep, James is hilarious in this really! In my opinion, if anybody can portray James better, it's you! Keep it up Dan!
***** Thank you. Tying in with the 70th was an important part of the brief, and it was fun working out how to tie it in with the ERS team. Davey did an excellent job playing James in this - he just 'gets' James :D
Absoulotely stunning piece of work! Massive well done to you and all those involved. :) Many thanks for casting me as James. Had a huge amount of fun with it and would jump at the chance to do so again. :)
The Gravy Train, eh? He who would pun would pick a pocket...Only joking, only joking! It's a good name for a dinner train, sort of hard to come up with a decent one since most of the of the great names have already been used. "The Yorkshire Pullman", "The Brighton Belle", "The Fair Maid", "The City of Los Angeles", on it goes. "The Sudrian Flyer" would be a good one, though on a dinner train you're not really in a hurry to get anywhere...oh well. It's sort of funny that James is fuming so much, technically the Express has a name, or at least it used to. I think I read somewhere that it was named "The Wild Nor' Wester", though I'm not sure if this was on any headboards, it might've been an unofficial name, sort of like the fast freight from the docks is known as the "Flying Kipper" to the railwaymen.
Ah it's great to see the ERS getting an adaption; I was hoping someone would. I loved all the humor that was thrown in. As always well worth watching! The way Jame's derailment was handled was quite impressive. While it is true that trainz has terrible psychics; as you've proved; ingenuity goes a long way in to making something convincing. I know only so much can be done with a trainz crash but I hate it when a crash has no effort in it at all so I'm glad to see a great result. :)
It's not often I enjoy Trainz videos Dan, as I told you recently. But I absolutely loved this one - the direction, the witty writing, and the editing were all spot on and a cut above a lot of other videos I've seen in the Trainz format. Was a pleasure to see this shape up in the ERS boards, and the end product is just as enjoyable to watch. Top work! :)
James’s face is PRICELESS when he is told he can’t go to the celebration .You would have thought he was told he was going to get his flues cleaned out and a washout .Engines faced those procedures back to back . In Wash Up and Brush Up 73020 was pouting when he was first shown in the shed.I would have loved to see his face when the washout was in progress!!!
There was some lag here and there, but the shots and writing was excellent! You never fail to amaze me with your Trainz videos! Keep up the great work Dan!

I think you and Davey have the best James voices I've ever heard. They just sound so natural compared to most others, including the CGI-era voice actors.
