While i’m a huge klay fan, injury history is a huge factor. Hard to give a 35 year old with Achilles and knee problems a max extension, when it’s also clear he’s lost a step and isn’t the same two way player he once was
You also gotta look at it from the standpoint of the warriors. They paid klay even though he missed two full seasons of that contract and they stayed loyal to him. If he wanted to stay he had to sacrifice and he chose not to. It’s business at the end of the day
I am a life long warriors fan. Long time, many shit years. I am very disappointed we let such a talented and classy man go who can still short and defend go. But we keep Dray, the same Dre that forever oh KD, the same Dre that single handed last us that 3-peat. He is a diva drama queen who averages a Tripple single. Even if my comment doesnt age well im predicting klay to have a monster year in dallas. He will get open shots with luka and kyrie on the floor tgey will be absolutely lethal and klay will benefit from it greatly.
Draymond with a “bad” stat line can still be a plus player cuz of his defensive impact and knowing how to get Steph the ball be it with a screen, a pass or knowing how to play off Steph when they double him whereas Klay having a bad stat line means he didn’t impact the game cuz he can’t play defense anymore and doesn’t do anything else well but shoot, he doesn’t even get rebounds and outlet well
Not every franchise is like that. As much as people hate on the Lakers, they have set the bar on how you reward players for adding to their brand. You’ve won chips and you were the best or even 2nd best player? Max contract until you decide to leave or retire. Klay isn’t what he was and it’s getting worse. The correct thing to on paper is to let him walk if he wants max money. What they move is actually going to do is tell players that GS is always business first, regardless of what you do for them. It’s going to make it harder to get good players to decide to come there.
They got pissed at klay in 2016 when he sold that team and he wasn't the owner of the worriers,he ran his mouth about lebron something you don't do,he can go to any team, but he want play the same because lebron got his heart.
I am glad a lot of former players understand Klay's position and let it be known the warrior's success was not just because of Steph Curry it's also because of Klay Thompson.
Steph needed Klay and Klay needed Steph. When you have 1 great shooter in a team you can guard that but when you have 2 on a team. That's hard to defend so during this dynasty they both needed eachother
I hope GSW doesn't pay a huge cost of getting rid of KT. Like someone once said. Players are not athletes. Their Chess pieces. Means nothing to upper management. Just like people who work for a company. OOOPS 😳

@@seanc5085 What? GS gave him that 5yr $190 million contract knowing he'd miss 1 yr, that's RESPECT. He missed 2 yrs. GS offered Klay 2yr $48 million extension last summer and he turned it down. How did Klay feel disrespected by GS? Now he got 3yr 50 million from Dallas.
They should have given him the same contract as Dramond.
Atleast. But really They should have Gave Mr triple single Draymond, Klays contract and KLAY Draymonds contract 🤷🏽
Or more…
@@travisstrickland7270Exactly!!!
You know it’s a problem when perk giving the brightest insight, Definitely gained my Respect. I wasn’t even looking at it in that perspective.
Klay had every right the warriors did him dirty after seeing what they gave other guys
He was getting 1 million less than Draymond. 24 mil a year. Dray was getting 25 mil a year.
Klay’s been washed up for 5 years. Not worth $24 million.
@@666sk8erguyGreen has been washed up longer and he still got paid.
@@iFanchithey gave klay plenty money while he rode the bench hurt two years. Loyalty goes both ways. They offered him more than what he just signed for
They paid him HOW MUCH MONEY while he was injured for two years???
That is a good point. People look at these players salaries and think "they're so over paid, take a pay cut, stop whining," but they forget that the legacies they sacrificed their bodies for generated billions in profits for team owners. None of them are getting a significant portion of that profit. While I don't think all of that needs to go just to the athletes, the fact water boys and janitors etc. can get $15 an hour while everyone around them makes millions is disgusting. That money needs to be more evenly distributed instead only going to the top.
We will treat ya good in Dallas bro!!
I hope we get pissed off, chip on the shoulder Klay and he can stay healthy. Dudes gonna be a DAWG!
Until he starts shooting bricks. You will be saying trade him.

Shit I bet that Jordan poole contract upset him more than anything. Even if it wasn't a huge deal, that impacted his own contract.
I understand how Klay felt because i've been in a situation he had been. Treating us lower than the others and unfairly even though we know that we did better than that person.
As a dallas fan, I'm fine with this. Can't wait to see what this new mavs team is capable of.
Captain Klay we love ❤ you bro
Bring Jordan Poole to the mavericks so that he can be with klay
wjats the point?
Its a business not a family it dont matter what you have done, it matters what you currently doing and it's only going down hill from here the warriors aren't young guys anymore
Klay going off this year
Yup it's The Klay Redemption Tour 2025
Luka, Kyrie, and Klay are going to be soft in transition defense
Wait till Kyrie brings the sage, then the season is over.
I said the same thing what perks said. Draymond can get in a fight once a month and still keep his job is insane 🤯
Welcome to Dallas ball out #MFFL
Classic tale of when the quiet guy who puts in the work doesn't receive the right compensation, but the loud ones do. Sometimes you get tired of taking it on the chin and rolling with punches.
Lakers offered him 80 million
Because it go to show you a lot of players not want to play with James.. they look how the Lakers and James did Westbrook.

This is the second time ive seen Perk make a solid analysis. Good on ya Perkins
Once again, Perk and RJ are on the wrong side of an issue. If getting $43M per year when you don’t play for two years, and then being offered $48M for two years, is disrespectful, then please disrespect me like that. Jeez!
Preach.
You are so WRONG!!! Klay was only reason why won not KD or curry it was Klay he is the winner. GSW were bad before they drafted klay and they had curry. When klay was hurt why were we so bad. GSW have no chance now without their secret weapon.
Curry absolutely needs klay. Buddy is not the answer. Klay was due to his quick release he bail players out when they are in need to get rid of ball.
@@steveellsworth1109 they needed his shots making , he don't got it , they can use his defense... after the injury it's not there!!
thats BS ! put any solid shooter next to Curry he will be better .... Curry movement get Curry free ... to avoid that defense was willing to leave Klay and KD open... thats the gap between him and them .. and no one care about your stats if you can't bring it when needed ....
In the grand scheme of things this shit doesn’t matter. Get out there and live a life worth living ✌️
Draymonds contract was to intentionally push clay out, stop the cap
You don't even know how to spell Klays name why should anyone listen to what you think?
Klay will end up with more rings. Nothing would make me happier
Bro people make it sound like they didn’t pay him for 2 years to rehab. If that was Boston Danny Angie would had traded him right after the Toronto series. And they were still about to give him a lot of money. Dude has been in mental distress for the longest of his prime ending.
He won a ring AFTER that. Danny Ainge hasn't actually ever done anything other than rob desperate franchises.
Difference is draymond called Steph to talk to the front office to get him back klay said don't let Steph change ur mind
So Klay really wanted a change.
The fact that Draymond got suspended as many days as he did and still got over $100m is proof they didn't want klay
I agree, Klay should have been paid a lot more. It took Klay playing also to make the Warriors what they are. Business is business, Klay deserved more.
Stop it.
You can’t max klay. He wasn’t the player he use to be but he was serviceable. He over valued himself and now he’s taking it personally.
the business part of the NBA is brutal klay chose a better atmosphere good for him
he is still living in the past ... he isn't the same defender , he can't be a 2nd option if you go for banner... he isn't in that level anymore! Green still great defender and defense leader , Curry playing at his prime level (he isn't slacking on Defense like LJ) ... GL in Dallas , Now wake up and work your game or understand you are not at your prime anymore!
Drays defense is not 100 million defense. & LJ is doing just fine on defense which has nothing to do with the content.leading the Lakers in steals, 2nd in rebounds & can and has locked up good players this season
I just hope he stays healthy
Klay got 2 years of pay while having the best seats in the house
While i’m a huge klay fan, injury history is a huge factor. Hard to give a 35 year old with Achilles and knee problems a max extension, when it’s also clear he’s lost a step and isn’t the same two way player he once was
You also gotta look at it from the standpoint of the warriors. They paid klay even though he missed two full seasons of that contract and they stayed loyal to him. If he wanted to stay he had to sacrifice and he chose not to. It’s business at the end of the day
Perk is spot on! 💯%
I understand and appreciate his game (tough and rough) but his game will not age as well as allays with time. Say what you want Klay will always be a Warrior and missed. I might get his Dallas Jersey to show him love. I and so thankful he did not go to the Lakers. He will fit in well in Dallas. Thank you Klay
Klay was the only warrior I fucked with
Splash "BROTHERS" - Klay second half of that duo.
This is 💯💯💯💯on point! That’s why Klay had to put himself first and not continue to be de-appreciated by the organization! Go luck Klay on your second half!
Even if my comment doesnt age well im predicting klay to have a monster year in dallas. He will get open shots with luka and kyrie on the floor tgey will be absolutely lethal and klay will benefit from it greatly.
Draymond with a “bad” stat line can still be a plus player cuz of his defensive impact and knowing how to get Steph the ball be it with a screen, a pass or knowing how to play off Steph when they double him whereas Klay having a bad stat line means he didn’t impact the game cuz he can’t play defense anymore and doesn’t do anything else well but shoot, he doesn’t even get rebounds and outlet well
They really disrespected Klay Thompson . But he going to shine...
Most times I don't agree with Perk. But damm, Perkins really be giving Klay his roses.
Draymond is an enforcer, and Klay is a shooter. Enforcers have to avoid foul trouble, and shooters have to make shots. Neither guy met expectations🤔
I am glad a lot of former players understand Klay's position and let it be known the warrior's success was not just because of Steph Curry it's also because of Klay Thompson.
MAN THIS GOTTA BE THE FIRST TIME PERKINS SAID SOME REAL SHIT
Klay is gonna be a FORCE next year. Mark my words. He’s gonna be a man possessed. I am here for it!
Klay deserves another ring 💍
1st time Perk sounded like a wise guy and I agree with him !
OOOPS 😳
Clay Thompson legacy took the biggest hit when KD joined the Warriors. Top five shooter of all time, four Championships, 60 points off 11 dribbles (sat the forth quarter) and left off the top 75 NBA players of all time. The disrespect is beyond asinine.
number #1 rule.."never worry about or watch other player's contracts!".." next thing u know..ur in your feelings!"..- rajon rondo
Kendrick at times don’t act too bright, this one he’s on point with.
The man could've retired, fought 2 injuries and came back and his energy helped them win another ring that was really suppose to be the end of it all. Klay going to have a great season next year
Klay deserves his bag... He was putting up the numbers without kicking people in the coconuts... 😂
Perk finally on point 🫡
Absolutely Accurate AF!! Poole got paid, Wiggins got paid, Draymond got paid, then "last" Klay got offered the "least".
Klay bad year was still top 2 in 3pt% tho.
Warriors did Klay dirty point blank period
I rarely agree with perkins but he made sense here
I agree with you all.
Draymond is a captain of the team on both offense and defense. Klay had moments where he didn’t dap up Steph or Dray this season. Leadership is not something that you see in stat lines but is reflected in the paycheck
the franchise is worth billions regardless who was on the team. it’s negligible difference with Thompson on the team.
We got him now Mavs!
