Thanks for the update Coach. It was great seeing Laine score in his first game back. That will be a huge boost to his confidence. It was also interesting to see him take Caufield's slot on the left side for the PP. We might finally have an extremely potent PP in the making. As for Slaf, to see him play hard after his chat (😄) with Hughes re-emphasizes his character. He obviously is willing to take on criticism in a positive way.
It's not about Laine..it's about the team..a guy coming back from an injury should not inspire a team..changes in attitude , tenacity and confidence should..did you see Swayman knock Suzuki on his keister and a couple of other Bruins bounce him out of their zone, with no other Canadien in sight to back him up ? It was fun to watch..and I have been a Habs fan since 1975.
Hughes said when they drafted Slaf, they drafted him for the player he would be in 5 yrs. It hasn't been 5 years yet. Hughes prematurely gave him that contract, as with Caufield. Hughes also prematurely traded Kovacevic, traded Allen when he should of waived Primeau, wasted 2 draft picks on Newhook to name a few things. Hughes has himself to blame. On the other hand Slaf isn't skating as hard and not shooting as much, lost his spot on the 1st line due to injury, he was getting points. Newhook on the 1st line is stupid. Slaf, Dach, Caufield, Laine, and others are complementary players, not drivers...Montreal doesn't have those players that drive a line. You can't create them or force it. The coaching and management are flawed and responsible for the regression. .
Also with the GM jumping in to talk to players about how they play shows they don't think the coach can do the job to get the best out of their players not a good sign
@@KeithGreene-wu7bu Not of all. This is great for me. He cares and he wants his players become better. Do you think Sam Pollock never talk to his players. What about Lou Lamiatello.. Just a normal thing in hockey

Im more dissapointed with how Slafkovsky is being utlized than his performance, except maybe his hesitation to shoot and he always looks for the pass - this is an issue all his career, maybe except the olympics. And I still dont understand why we dont use last years first line (especially now that laine is back) and also, Dach took his role on PP and its not working. I am not surprised by the lack of his production, they put him in low scoring role and situations. I dont think we should develop him as a "average" powerforward who is there only to hit and screen the goalie. All his multi point games came from with playing with Suzuki and Caufield, where he was creating offense, not just screening the goalie. I dont understand why we dont make these simple adjustments. Clearly we have no problem to give Dach every opportunity, but why? He is not our 1st pick we just signed for 8 years.
@@GandalfAI69 First of all thanks for your comment. Dach did not take Slafkovsky spot. It’s Dach is out of the PP. Secondly with Slafkovsky on the second line it gives the Habs to have two good lines. Thirdly it’s only 26 games since the beginning of the season everything could change at some point. Four, Slafkovsky struggling by his bad decision with the puck. This is the biggest problem this year. Last again two turnovers and giveaways puck in defensive zone. One opportunity and a penalty because of that… Don’t look at his goals or points but look when he has the puck or not. I am not worry about him. He is only 20 years old. Caufield did the same thing last year. Learn properly to play the game of 200 feet.

Two biggest issues remain not shooting nearly enough and losing puck battles. I understand why Hutson did not shoot in OT the other 3 guys were off IDK doing what signing autographs but the thing for me is decision making example Dach tried to do like the rest maintaining control "which I loved watching" instead of dumping it in but Dach made the WRONG decision in OT. I can't believe how many times in the game we had great opportunities to shoot 2 on 1 3 on 2 and we didn't end up with any shots on net I was just shaking my head.Defensively had moments of same old cover nobody the one D man for the Isles skated around the entire rink and around the net nobody close to even touching him but overall a better effort defensively and yeah Anderson had that one great read which is EXACTLY what I want to see defensively READ THE PLAY and he intercepted the pass...good job. What I wanted to say is that the Isles worked harder for puck battles than I have seen from any team this year so kudos to them but THAT is what the Habs need to do battle like it is the playoffs.
That was the first time I reallyu had a big smile seeing Suzuki's goal because the way they played in overtime was truly a pleasure to watch regulation time not so much but OT was amazing. The TSN panel was spot on in calling the game even on the blunder goal they called it correctly Dach;s attempt to clear it was soft/lazy and Hutson took off too soon. Laine doesn't have much game but he does something I have been begging for since forever ...SHOOT the darn puck. I see every mistake in a game yes I know when all the D made mistakes including Arber but yes he played solid and for me more importantly he plays as a poised player he does not look at all pressured or nervous. The best thing we need out of MSL is to TEACH the players but NEVER throw them under the bus or center them out as the player to blame for a team's loss. What I did see during the game was that MSL looked upset over Arber's penalty but that was what we call a good penalty he had to trip the guy up. Monty made a great save but the Isles just needed to elevate their shots and they get 4/5 goals on Monty so he was also lucky. Biggest mistake I keep hearing >>>quit looking only at POINTS how a player plays matters way more.Slafkovsky actually 3 feet from getting the puck out was lazy he put no effort on the puck worse than Dach's clearing attempt and yeah the puck was kept in so no he wasn't that great matter of fact my biggest peeve in the game was how often we keep losing puck battles.
