  • In this video, we use a 3D model to explain how the plate heat exchanger works and why it is so efficient.
The 3D model is animated so we can take it apart and view all the main components. We look at the plate stack, frame, gaskets and clamping bolts etc.
We mention the plate design and how it seals to separate the two flowing mediums.
The advantages and disadvantages of this type of heat exchanger are discussed and we compare some of these features to the shell and tube type heat exchanger.
The 3D model in the video can be found at saVRee.com or 3D-knowledge.com.

    Thanks for watching!

Disclaimer: I mentioned in the video that there are only two types of heat exchanger in the industrial world, this is not true, there are two COMMON types of heat exchanger used in the industrial world (plate type, and, shell and tube type). Sorry for the error.

thanks a lot. you explained it very nicely. I was having trouble understanding how the fluid moves through the plates. now I get it.

Nice explanation, and there nothing more pain the ass than removing those plates and fitting new gaskets and putting it back together correctly and expecting no leaks or mixing.

Is the heat exchange in a PHX conduction or convection

Is there such a thing as a small size heat exchanger to try and capture the heat I am exhausting out of my grow area to my backyard in the winter? I know they have air-exchangers for homes but they have their own internal fans I believe. Do they have passive ones that work with exhaust fans? Thanks and i wish i can use it in my 4x4 marshydor tent .

Checkout the shell and tube video I made on the new channel.
      ruclips.net/video/kns9UNZYMjI/видео.html
If that does not help, look in the video description and you will see a link to a heat exchanger course I made that is on udemy. It's only 9.99 if you click on the link.
Don't forget to subscribe to the new channel! 😃

I love Thailand! But, it will be a while before I can get some Thai subs (sorry). I know its a bummer to watch stuff in English sometimes, so I will try and find a way to put all this stuff in more languages. Hindi, Spanish and French are high on my list, just have not figured out a way to translate stuff economically yet.

You need proper information from the manufacturer. Also fluids, density and flow characteristics etc.
