Vesper’s dialogue in the dinner scene after Bond wins is fascinating.
She says, "You've got a choice, you know. Just because you've done something, it doesn't mean that you have to keep doing it." On the surface, she's talking about Bond being an agent and killing people, but the subtext for her is she's talking about betraying her government and by extension, Bond. She's already in love with him, and she's having to deal with the realities of her situation. It was easy for her to betray her government when it was just a faceless institution, but it's much more difficult for her now that she deeply cares about someone personally victimized by her betrayal. By saying that Bond still has a choice in what he does, she is also saying that she can choose to stop being a traitor. But she can't quite convince herself, which is why she's so adamant that Bond can change; it's not really about whether Bond can change, it's about whether she can.
Bond returns with a quip about people who can't take advice being the ones who always give it. This startles Vesper because, like the scene on the train, he can see through her. He can't see completely through her; he doesn't know what she's struggling with, but he can see that she's driven by something. Vesper is so rattled by Bond's insight that she's put on the defensive and answers his question with a question of her own, sidestepping the issue. Bond brings the issue back to the forefront by revealing how much he's able to see through her, and saying that he'll never know what's driving her. This is a perfect opportunity for Vesper to come clean and tell him everything, but the opportunity is lost.
She gets a text, Bond realizes that Mathis is a traitor, Vesper is kidnapped, then Bond is kidnapped, and then she is forced to make a deal to save Bond's life by giving up the money Bond won in the tournament. After that, it's too late for her. She can't tell him her situation because the people she was working with would kill Bond. So they continue to fall in love, but she knows the relationship is doomed. Her only hope is to die and pay for her sins against Bond. She knows he'll hate her forever, but his hatred is worth it if it keeps him alive. She loves him more than she values her own life.
One of the best text/comments about Casino Royals and Bond in general I’ve read. Gonna save that. Thank you for your insight.
For younger people, starting with Craig is wise. Don’t listen to us old haters. Craig’s films are modern and tell one big complete story. -cheers
As much as I love the older films, I can admit that they are a bit of a tough sell for more modern audiences - they're rather slow-paced, there's a reliance on campy comedy, and there's a lot of content that has not aged well at all. I reckon a reactor new to the series would probably be better off starting with the Craig era, or possibly the Brosnan era, and then working their way back if they're interested in doing so
@@christianwise637 the Moore movies relied on campy comedy.
The older movies are a tough sell for "modern audiences" because their Ritalin adled brains need a constant stream of crash-bang-boom to keep their attention, regardless of what it is.
Casino Royale was the first bond Film I saw in cinemas and properly introduced me to the Bond series.
As an old Bond fan, I was really glad to see they dropped the campy humor with these. They kept the corny lines here and there, but the camp was just getting out of control. It was wearing extremely thin by the last 2 Brosnan films. To the point where they felt almost like parodies.
@@mycroft16 It didn't exactly help that those films came out around the same time as the Austin Powers films were poking fun at the series and its tropes, making them come across as even more ridiculous
Unlike the other Bond films, the Craig ones pretty much follow one story arc. You should finish these and watch the others, or at least two by the other actors - Timothy Dalton did two and George Lazenby only did one.
'License the Kill' was the most realistic Bond until this one.
Do they? The movies remind me of mission impossible movies. Where they each feel loosely connected but not really 1 continues story 😕
@@putinscat1208 Pretty much a Daniel Craig Bond movie before the Daniel Craig movies. Dalton was great, a shame we didn't get a couple more of him.
Didn't the Connery ones follow one story arc too?
@@ThomasRobinson-by2wm Most of them dealt with Spectre or Blofeld all the way till Diamonds are Forever.
Chris Cornell singing the bond song for this movie was so fire then and still is now.
Still one of my favourite songs to this day

"What are you gonna do with a bottomless chair? What kind of torture..?"
Oh, you sweet innocent child. 😄
(PS: that amazing scene is taken straight from Ian Fleming's novel.)
The scary part is, if Fleming wrote about it then the British probably did it during the war.
Exactly what I was thinking. Dude she is so innocent 🤣🤣
I am glad you like Mads. As one of his fellow danes, I can tell you that he is indeed very funny. Many of his roles include this deadpan humor, where he can say the most outrageous things with a complete straight face. The thing is, that his kind of subtle humor really doesn't translate. So this is why in his international career he only get villain roles, because of his very angular face. He deserves more leading male roles.
North Eastern US here. I totally agree. I think Mads is phenomenal. I would love a fantasy or medieval movie or show with him as the main character.
@@jacobwalsh1888 he was Tristan in the rather abysmal King Arthur. Abysmal in that it was a horrible King Arthur movie but a solid fantasy action movie.
He got to play a mostly good guy in that Star Wars movie but yes, it's a shame he seems to have been pigeonholed into villain roles in Hollywood. Obviously he was a Very Bad Guy in Hannibal but I thought that show displayed his comedic skills well too since it actually contained a lot of dry, dark, and absurdist humour. I'm from the UK and there's a bit more of an interest in Scandinavian films and TV here so I've seen quite a lot of Mads' Danish work and I think he's great in the leading man type role since his face is so expressive and able to convey a lot of subtle emotions. He's also very funny in those weird Anders Thomas Jensen films.
Mads Mikkelsen has literally become one of my top 5 favorite actors. I'd never heard of him at all before Casino Royale because I'm an uncultured Texas redneck I guess lol but damn if Mads isn't one of the most compelling actors I've ever seen. He elevates everything he's in just by his presence. Some actors just have "it" and he most certainly does. Loved Hannibal. Loved him in Rogue One and Doctor Strange. Riders of Justice was great. He seems like the ideal Indiana Jones villain. I need to seek out more of his Danish films..
Mads is my favorite actor and favorite dilf
The gun barrel continued to the main title is one of the best JB openings ever.
There's a special charm when it comes to the Bond films. Glad you picked up one to start your journey into this franchise. 😊❤
8:39 That’s MI6 (Military Intelligence 6). MI5 handles internal investigations regarding UK citizens, MI6 handles foreign intelligence. (In the 60s series “The Avengers,” which had a couple of female leads become famous Bond Girls, there was an offhand comment/joke that the leads worked for “MI5 1/2” because they seemed to do both.)
36:45 And they bring in the classic theme because he’s truly become “James Bond” at this point. This is an origin story, in case you hadn’t noticed.
“He’s gonna have to transfer the car insurance over to James Bond now.” That laugh didn’t kill me, but I can die happy now.
I liked that too. Seemed like an idea that we would see in a comedy skit. All the real life details that they just gloss over in James Bond movies. haha
I remember when this came out, EVERYONE was talking about that crane chase. Like I was in high school, and both teachers and students were like… Can you believe that that was insane
This is a reboot that's kind of a Bond origin story. He's supposed to be seen at the beginning as more violent and rough around the edges. Not quite as suave and sophisticated, but he gets there. Also some things suggesting why he has so many casual relationships with women.
The bond of literature was very much a cold warrior and quite cold. Fleming described him as having a "cruel mouth." In appearance, and in some attitude, Craig was closes to original Bond. His bond had come out of WWII with considerable experience. No throw-away glib bon mots. Very much professional. And no superman. He was capable of no more spectacular feats as any extraordinarily fit man. Of course, Fleming had been in intelligence, too, and had a character in mind and a specific chief in mind as "M".
They had to completely scrap the story from The Spy Who Loved Me to make it acceptable as a film. The novel was narrated from the point of view of a woman, and Bond only comes into it for a short time at the end. The narrator spends a lot of time telling of her sexual experiences, giving Fleming, a gay man, a chance to write from a woman's view.
In Casino Royale, the novel, Le Chiffre was not financing terrorist organizations. Terrorism as a theme had not arisen. He handled finances for Communist cells in Europe, and in the end, the KGB got him, the agent carving the Russian letter "Ш" , the first letter in "Spy" in Russian, into Bond's hand to make him recognizable to other KGB agents. The reason he didn't kill Bond was simply because he had no orders to do so. The demise of the Soviet Union was really hard on spy novelists.
And the Bond theme only plays at the very end of the film once he's become that character.
Any movie with Mads is just instantly elevated by his presence
Indeed. He's one of my favorite actors now ever since Casino Royale. I keep forgetting this movie is approaching 20 years old. Feels like a new-ish movie to me still..
The others were good also, but Casino Royale was the best one for Craig imo, and one of the best songs also(RIP Chris Cornell).
Absolutely the best of the opening songs in my book. I love that it's the stand out as this is the unique Bond before he really becomes the Bond we know.
Skyfall was also awesome
Quantum of Solace was unfortunately quite the let down. It had so much potential as a concept, considering that for the first time in the series they were doing a direct sequel that starts exactly where Casino Royale left off. But the execution was very lackluster.
Song, yes definitely. But Skyfall is just a slightly better movie for me
@@GeorgeTropicana Skyfall is also really good.

After much legal issues, they finally got to make the first James Bond story (published April 1953) into a movie, true to the feel of the book. We finally got to see Bond when he first becomes a Double O, and how he makes mistakes, and how and why his attachment towards women is formed after meeting Vesper.
Ugggh…
@@manifestdestinyy yeah, I feel your pain.
😆 In a way I agree with your comment but not the way you think. The Daniel Craig James Bond movies were ultimately a decline in the man James Bond into a feminized self-absorbed guy who is going on an emotional journey of self-discovery. No thanks.
lol Bond has always been an anti-hero. He's the bad guy working for the good guys. This is nothing new.
Seeing so many people looking up to any main character as a role model makes me realize how easy it is to brainwash ppl through film and cinema.
James Bond is not supposed to be a role model. He's an anti-hero character. That's an actual term, it's not something I came up with.
@@grosbeak6130 Actually that's every version of James Bond. He's a cold blooded guy and a feminizer. I've known that since I was a kid. What on earth are you even talking about.
That car wreck at the time held the record for the number of rolls at 7, completely practical stunt as well.
I'm an old-timer Bond, an OG Connery fan but I have to say this one is the best Bond. The movie-making action and effects finally caught up to the legend. Before you continue, consider watching a few of the older ones; 'From Russia With Love', 'Thunderball', 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service' (before watching 'No Time to Die' because of references), 'Live and Let Die' and 'A View to a Kill', a Dalton, and a Brosnan.
In my opinion, this is the greatest James Bond movie. It's more realistic than most James Bond stories, Daniel Craig is great in it, Mads Mikkelsen is a brilliant Le Chiffre, and Chris Cornells opening song is the greatest Bond theme of all time. Brilliant.
The greatest Bond theme of all time is Shirley Bassey's "Goldfinger".
@Isabel Silva I'm a huge Soundgarden fan, so I'm a little biased. Lol. 😂
Go rewatch skyfall
@mikemarc92 I'm well aware of Adele. And it doesn't change my opinion. You Know My Name is the quintessential Bond theme. ;)
😂
It's funny how I didn't think much of this movie when it first came out. Perhaps I was too used to the previous Bond films with the silly gadgets and goofy one-liners. But eventually, Casino Royale became my favorite Bond movie and the one I've seen the most.
Casino Royale is a reboot of the James Bond franchise after if became overwrought with ridiculous elements like invisible cars and Bond windsurfing on tsunamis. Inspired by Christopher Nolan rebooting Batman with a more down-to-earth approach in 2005 with Batman Begins, Casino Royale was released a year later in 2006, and its working title was "Bond Begins." The classic Bond theme doesn't appear until the very end of the movie as a conscious decision, since it is very much his origin story of how he becomes the legendary 007.
The movie deserves massive respect for following source material at the expense of it maybe being labeled "boring." A shame they didn't continue rebooting all the novels, but any Bond movie is a great movie.
after the Bourne Identity films, there is no way people would accept a Roger Moore-esque Bond film! 😂
I preferred the old type.
When this came out, it was pretty much regarded as them making this "more realistic" in light of the Bourne movies. The success of Bourne made Bond seem passé, so this change in direction was very frankly, franchise saving.
lets not forget Austin Powers, but I loved those films. Is a lot of competition in the genre now.. Wick, etc.
Welcome to the 007 franchise!
Although Pierce Brosnan is my Bond (I’m a ‘90s kid, after all), Daniel Craig is still a kickass Bond!
By the way, I highly recommend you continue with the franchise after watching the Daniel Craig movies, starting back with the Sean Connery-era 007 movies!
I grew up with Brosnan too. What a great early run he had. Shame about the finish 😅
I hope we are all celebrating the Brosnaissance, as his films should be celebrated more now I feel :)
Agreed, and preach! 💯
While I certainly am a 90s kid I actually like Roger Moore the most of them all.
If I had to do a ranking of them all I would say:
- Roger Moore
- Sean Connery
- Daniel Craig
- George Lazenby ( I really liked him)
- Pierce Brosnan
- Timothy Dalton
I grew up on Brosnan too, but they were definitely a bit tacky. Goldeneye is still a real top tier Bond movie though.
Keep in mind that when one views this movie, it is a re-boot of the Bond franchise. The Bond that we see in the beginning of this movie is NOT the Bond we have come and love since the 1960s. However, as the movie progresses, he does become the Bond we have come to love and admire. This is the reason that the classic Bond theme is not played until the very end, even though bits of it can be heard throughout the soundtrack as he discovers himself.
That is my favorite 007 movie, every point of it is perfect, I hope they choose well who will be the next James Bond
Nah. The Daniel Craig James Bond movies were ultimately a decline in the man James Bond into a feminized self-absorbed guy who is going on an emotional journey of self-discovery.

They're gonna turn it woke into the next bond film
Well all men wanted to be like bond hell I wanted to be like him it's a fantasy world
The part where Bond almost hits Vesper (28:38), he misses & rolls the car 9 times (a Guinness world record btw).
The chair torture scene in this makes many if not all men flinch when Le Chiffre hits him in his groin (29:26), I was the only 1 in the screening of the cinema that didn't flinch or go ouch etc, it just made me chuckle.
"this is too risky for a government to get involved in possibly aiding terrorism" oh, my sweet summer child...
Over the years this has gone from my favorite bond movie to just my favorite movie..it's so rewatchable and the cast were all absolutely on fire.. especially Craig ...think he took the criticism he got for his casting as bond personally..cos he was bad ass
I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that your (mostly) quiet commentary was due to you being so engrossed with the film, which is a good thing :)
This movie has my favorite opening theme song for a Bond film.
I’ve watched all the Bond movies since the 60’s as a child and was was skeptical when they announced that Daniel Craig would be taking over the role but after Sean Connery, he’s my favorite. Well done Mr. Bond.
Pierce Brosnan was my first Bond but I really like Daniel Craig’s take on the character. In the original novel by Ian Fleming the Casino Royale is inspired by the Casino Estoril in Portugal, a country that was neutral during WW2 but right in the middle of the conflict and thus a spy hotbed
It was here in Portugal that Ian Fleming got the ideas for James Bond, it was based on the spies he met while based at the Hotel Palácio Estoril, of course the Casino was where they all operated. We were "neutral" yet always allowed Allied spies to do their "business" here freely whilst selling our wolframite to the germans, a very precious mineral for their war industry.
My two favorite Bond films are both directed by Martin Campbell and were both the actor's first foray as James Bond. Casino Royale and Goldeneye. I am a 90's kid so I am biased in that sense. The older films have their place and are fun in their own right. Hope to see you make your way through at least Pierce Brosnan's and Sean Connery's tenures after doing Craig's. Keep in mind while these are the stories of the same character the individual movies rarely reference one another especially when changing Bond actor's, even if supporting characters are played by the same people. Craig's Bond is the first to establish a hard continuity starting with Royale.
Martin Campbell is a master
Campbell was the only great Bond director of the past 30 years, if not longer.
Fingers crossed Campbell will come back a third time to direct the next Bond's first film...
@@christianwise637 I agree but the man is pushing 80. Not saying it's impossible since he's still working but by I'm not expecting it unfortunately.
@@TigerNightmare I personally wouldn't disqualify Sam Mendez, his movies just didn't have writing as strong as Campbell's IMO.
I'm not sure I would have recommended this as your first Bond film. It's a really good movie, but with this reboot of the franchise, it completely changed the mood (and made the character much closer to the character Iain Flemming wrote). But I hope you'll enjoy the older films as well.
she needs to start with Quantum of Solace or else she will mess the story line
Craig's movies are light years better than the old cringey campy shit, deal with it
For those who don't know. The guy in the beginning, who James chasing and he does a bunch of parkour... Name is Sabastiam foucan. He created free running
I grew up with Pierce Brosnan as my first James Bond. I went to the theater to see Casino Royale in '06, but i wasn't sure how it would go. Craig knocked it out of the park with a fresh take, which was needed at the time for sure. It definitely reflected the times as the world was embroiled in the war on terror.
Also, this movie made Eva Green THE girl to see back then.
It’s the only good Graig film to be honest
I'm so glad you liked it! I grew up with Roger Moore as 007, and while disco era Bond is fun, this is great in a very different way and a cracking intro for a young viewer.
Love how excited you got over LeChefre's scar, it was adorable
The Flash did call Batman the 'James Bond of superheroes'. Now you get to see what he meant.
- I'm the money.
- Every penny of it.
Fun facts : Two Danish villain actors in the same film, with Mr. White (Jesper Christensen) killing the villain (Mads Mikkelsen) and with Mr. White returning as a villain in the sequel to Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace from 2008 and also in the James Bond film Spectre from 2015. It has happened before in the big TV series Game of Thrones where the villain/hero Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) and villain Euron Greyjoy (Pilou Asbæk), end up in a duel, where Jaime Lannister kill Euron, but suffer a mortal wound himself.
I love the casual half million tip. Makes me want to become a dealer in a fancy casino.
"you're on a decline, you can roll!" lol she's so logical and practical
That's MI6 not M16... an M16 is something very different... or perhaps not with this film! 🤣
I found it amusing that she was going back and forth in her head as if each sounded correct, and in that aspect she is right. Both are terms, just one is for the British agency being referenced in this film, and the other is a popular military rifle.
This Bond title (Casino Royala) has been done twice before : The first time it was the TV show 'CLIMAX!' from 1954 where Berry Sullivan played American spy Jimmy Bond, and then in 1967 movie staring Woody Allen ( Jimmy Bond) and Peter Sellers both are worth a glance.
I like the fact you immediately went to 'food' when they mentioned a celebration. Nothing better than great food. As a soft reboot of the IP this was a solid film. Gave us a lot of backstory on why Bond is the way he is.
YES! YES! YES!
This is the James Bond I grew up with. I enjoyed all of Daniel Craig's Bond films. One day I'll go back and watch the other ones. I hope you enjoy them too!
I liked the first 3 Craig Bond movies but was disappointed in the last two.
As a life long Bond fan, the Craig movies are my favorites. My Bond growing up was Moore. You should see them all but there are some you should save for last - Diamonds Are Forever, The Man With The Golden Gun and Die Another Day are the worst in my opinion.
@@carlanderson7618 SPECTRE's biggest problem was the MASSIVE retcon it required to even work, and even then it hamfistedly tried to force a single plot arc into them.
The Daniel Craig ones are barely even James Bond films . They tried to turn it into something else, more like the other action films of the genre, than what makes James Bond what it is.
Good work V, great reaction. A great place to start this journey, its like you're there experiencing the origin of a legend! 👍
Casino Royale was also the first appearance of James Bond when the novel was published in 1953. What makes the film interesting to me is that is one of the only ones that actually used the original story that it was based on. Most of the bond films with the same titles as the novels have nothing in common with the books
Fun fact, the scene where James got out of the water wasn't planned, Craig actually hit his foot with a rock and decided to get out of the water, and it was kept in the film
Daniel Craig and Timothy Dalton are my favorite Bonds. I read the books and they both capture the essence of James Bond perfectly. If you watch all the Craig and Dalton's movies you don't need to see more. Except maybe for the Lazenby movie. Loved your reaction.
Re the cop car getting blown away by the jet, that's actually likely, jumbo jet engines are extremely powerful. What isn't likely is the "Sprinkler Override" key. A sprinkler override would turn all the fire sprinklers off, not on. In fact that is a problem with virtually every film using the fire sprinkler trope, they don't all go off at once. A sprinkler only goes off when the fire heats that one sprinkler to over a certain temperature (typically 135 to 250 F, 57-121 C) but all the remaining sprinklers will remain off unless the fire spreads. This limits water usage to the area where the fire is, otherwise the water pressure would drop significantly and areas of the building with no fire would be water damaged.
One thing everybody gets wrong about Bond: he's not a spy, he's a "liquidator".
17:11
that could be the motto for the entire franchise...
The man in the initial chase scene is Sebastien Foucan, one of the early developers of parkour and an urban free running champion. So yes, he's one of the most acrobatic people in the world.
This was the first Bond movie I ever saw in theaters. I remember my Dad taking me to see it back in 2006 when I was 13. Such a good movie and one of the best of Craig's era.

I love the days I wake up and see V has a new movie reaction😊😁 It's like watching a movie with a new friend
This is actually the 3rd rendition of this story (but the 1st time it's done well). The first was a TV movie in 1954 where Bond was an American spy named Jimmy Bond lol. The second was a goofy spoof movie made in the 60s that included exploding birds, Orson Wells, and a bio-weapon that makes all women beautiful and kills all men over 4'6".
@VKunia I’m sure someone has already commented, but it’s not “ M-16”. It’s “MI-6”. The MI stands for Military Intelligence. In Britain MI-5 handles domestic intelligence and MI-6 handles international, just like the USA breaks them up for the FBI and CIA. For future James Bond movies, the code name for the head of MI-6 is always M, short for the nickname Mother in real life. Another important character is Q, short for quartermaster, who issues spy equipment to Bond.
_"the code name for the head of MI-6 is always M, short for the nickname Mother in real life. "_
Suddenly a certain movie with Ralph Fiennes, Uma Thurman and Sean Connery became somewhat less up the wall.
@@Mansplainer2099-jy8ps I’d missed that one 😳😄. But I’m a spy novel junkie from way back.

Thank you so much for your reaction Ma’am! This is my favourite movie of all time.
I grew up with the classic Bond films. And for some fans, Sean Connery is the only Bond. But Daniel Craig instantly became my favorite Bond the very first time I saw this film. I've now seen "Casino Royale" more times than I've seen all of the other Bond films combined. Connery's Bond now comes across as an international playboy who occasionally does spy stuff. Craig's Bond is a cold, focused professional. Ian Fleming described Bond this way: "Bond disliked killing, but took pride in doing it well." That's Craig's Bond in a nutshell. Off topic a bit: When I was in high school we had a Danish exchange student named Mads. He pronounced it 'Medds'.
Dude I saw Mads in Toronto smoking a cigarette on a buildings steps with his scarf flowing in the wind. I stopped walking because I thought I was going to ruin the shot. Turns out they weren't filming...he just ROLLS LIKE THAT! Most charismatic non-verbal shit I've eeeeever seen.
19:40 lol. That’s why they advertised 2 luxury watch brands in a 5 second stretch on the train. And the focus on the Ford logo, before the focus on the Aston Martins.
So glad you enjoyed - really enjoyed your reaction/commentary.
The first time I saw Casino Royale was in the summer of 2014 (I'm from October 4th 1998, so I was 15 years old that summer) and since then it has been among my favorite action movies AND movies in general
“Can getting shot make you flip like that?” Depends on the caliber of the weapon and the distance from which the weapon is fired to impact with the target.
The guy doing the parkour in the beginning is Sébastien Foucan - one of the inventors of modern parkour.
Since you appeared to be really analyzing James's character in this movie, I feel that you should definitely react to the other Daniel Craig movies as well. They do build off of each other and James develops as a character over the course of all the movies. I would also recommend not letting a huge amount of time pass between reactions-- unless you're really good at remembering characters and plot points over long periods of time.
“ this is too risky for government to get involved in possibly aiding terrorism” oh you sweet summer being
so far my favorite james bond actors is sean connery roger moore and pierce brosnan
This isn't James Bond, this is British Jason Bourne.
I really hope you watch the rest of these! Skyfall is outstanding. Also, I loved your concern about the logistics of Bond winning the Aston Martin. Like there's a deleted scene of him in the tag office trying to get the title transferred over, lol.
James Bond is a classic figure of masculinity. His self-determination and loyalty are eternal virtues.
I consider the earlier Bond films to be aiding in the education of viewers. And actor after actor creates a generation of films that are nicely inclusive in one way, but mostly fun.
My dear V, Bond is like an archetype of the 60's man. Different actors gave Bond different personalities and "feelings" but Bond is not Bond if he doesn't represent the primitive desire of men: the alpha man. And this alpha man tend to be a little psycho. Without much empathy, an action man irresistible to women, not rich but opportunist, bon vivant, elegant and narcissist, manipulative, forever single and violent without much emotional response (remember, boys don't cry). He was created in order to connect to the fantasies of common men, explaining his success. And the psychopathic personalities fall in love indeed but in some narcissistic and egocentric way.
Casino Royale is the best Bond film.
The Bourne Ultimatum (3) is the best spy film.
Mission Impossible: Fallout (6) is the best MI film, and my second favorite spy film of all times.
The black man Bond is chasing at the beginning of the film which you called "very athletic" is Sébastien Foucan, the founder of free running which later became known as parkour.
Silencers don’t reduce the power of the bullet but disperse the shockwave coming out the barrel.
11:40 “He’s going to have to transfer the car insurance over to James Bond now…” 😂 I lol’d ☺️
A Casino Royale TV movie aired on CBS in 1954. It starred Barry Nelson as James Bond/007.
Mads Mikkelsen is not always the villain. If you like him, I recommend “The Hunt”, “Another Round” and “After the wedding”.
Mister Mikkelsen played in a bunch of really funny comedies before Hollywood turned him into a 24/7 villain. :)
Now you have to watch the 1967 comedy version with David Niven, Ursula Andress, and Peter Sellers.
Like Batman/Superman/any comic book character, there will always be a different Bond (actor and characterization) every 15-20 years that reflects on the generation of people. Hope you enjoy the 2000-2020s version of Bond. This and Skyfall are the best ones by Daniel Craig.
11:00 - Those were the 2 guys whose Range Rover he "parked" when they thought he was the valet.
In case you didn’t know, this series with Daniel Craig is a REBOOT. The Bond films prior to it were the older classic franchise, with a few notable exceptions:
Never Say Never Again 1983 was a stand-alone remake of the original Thunderball movie,
Casino Royale 1967 was a standalone comedy version of the movie you just watched.
The Rock was a movie suspected to be a finale of the original franchise.
GoldenEye was a soft reboot, if I'm not mistaken.
Hell yes!
I was born today 33 years ago and grew up watching the Bond Movies and for a while Pierce Brosnan was my favorite Bond actor mainly because Goldeneye and The World is not Enough. but THEN! came Daniel Craig
Craig is now the best Bond actor with the best Bond movies for me.
I like that his movies are grounded in reality, dark and gritty, and yet so many layers over layers when it comes to Bond and his personality and how he evolve over time and learns and yet that he still has flaws and weaknesses and struggles sometimes.
I also love that Judi Dench was casted as the role as M in Craigs Bond movies since she first appeared as M in the Pierce Brosnan Bond Movies
I fell dumbstruck and empty somehow after I watch the last Bond movie with Craig as Bond. I mean he was for 15 years Bond!
8:37 - It's actually "MI-6" (letters M, I, and the number 6). The letters "MI" stand for "military". There's MI-5 which was the "security service", and MI-6 which was the "Security Intelligence Service" (this group).
OMG So happy you've started this journey!
I'm so glad you're watching Bond!
A few things to understand Bond movies: Bond leaves a path of destruction wherever he goes, especially cars and vehicles. Style, drinking, cars, girls, guns, and gambling are a big part of them. They feature exotic locations usually around 5. The villains are usually a bit over the top.
This was actually not a bad one to start with, since they decided to reboot the franchise and explain how Bond become a 00 in it. At the time poker, specifically Texas Hold-em, was a big fad so that part seems a little off now I think.
This film silenced the doubters that Craig was “too short”, “too blonde”, etc. that he couldn’t play James Bond. He turned out to be one of (if not) the best.
No it didn't.
The athletic guy at the beginning is played by a French guy who developed freerunning (AKA parkour). Sébastien Foucan
I love this movie and seen it so many times but my GOD I haven't laughed this much in awhile. I'll never be able to watch this movie the same way again lol
As a huge James Bond fan I never clicked on a video so fast. Loved your reaction to the film and “M16” 😂 plz watch the rest of Craig’s James Bond tenure!
Casino Royale is easily the best of the Daniel Craig movies but I really enjoyed all of his Bond movies. More so than the old ones.
This is a good one to start with. I recommend watching all of them someday, or at least the first appearance of every individual Bond.
It's not an asthma inhaler; it's a Benzedrine inhaler. Benzedrine or amphetamine sulfate is a drug that was available over-the-counter in the early and mid-20th century and as a result was widely abused. In the novel, LeChiffre uses, and can be assumed is addicted to, Benzedrine. So, while not as abused or as easily available now as it was over half a century ago, its use by the villain is straight from the novel itself.
"She's getting into a stranger's car" - to be fair, it's the same car she's gotten into many times, including the trip to the club that night.
You have no bloody idea how long I've been waiting for this reaction. I really like your videos because they're very natural and why not, because I love watching girls enjoying and feeling my favourite films and this is one of them... I expect you to make more Craig's 007 reactions ❤️
9:15 - They're trying to show a cameo by Victoria's Secret model Alessandria Ambrosio.
17:42 - It's M - I - 6 (not M16)
Daniel Craig's portrayal of 007 is when he's just starting out, which means it shows a new, inexperienced, flawed, and very human James Bond. This is a deviation of how he's been traditionally portrayed in previous Bond flicks.
