    I have two fast questions for you. Could I just do the overnight soak in the pot I’m going to do the 40 minute steaming in ? And second, would adding powdered gypsum give them a nutrition boost or is it unnecessary? Thanks and I like the video!

    • @ezmushroom
      @ezmushroom  10 месяцев назад +1

      Yes you can do an overnight soak of the water in the pot.
      Yes you can add in gypsum typically 1-2% of the dry weight of the substrate. Good Luck!

    Do you fully close tight the jars before you put them in the pressure cooker? Wasn’t sure if they should be left loose or tightly closed…

    • @ezmushroom
      @ezmushroom  5 месяцев назад +1

      Closed is fine aslong as there is a gas exchange hole in the top. With no hole you will end up with a vaccumed tight jar like you buy from super market which pops when you open it. That is still fine just tougher to open / use lol

    Hey! If you dont have a pressure cooker that tells you the PSI what should you do. I just have a standard pressure cooker with a turning nob. Also what do you do for inoculation of the lids? I can see just micro por tap? I was going to punch a little hole in the lids and inject with that and then put micropore tape over, Do you think this will be alright?

    • @ezmushroom

      Try and find the manual or look up the manual online. Normally the high settings are around 12psi.
      Yes to the microore tape thats fine I have a video on this channel about growing lions mane in jars years ago, i injected through the tape in thats video and quickly put new tape over theres a technique to do it real fast if you find that video

    • @ezmushroom
      @ezmushroom  23 дня назад

      Do you mean the jars are coming out the PC and look a bit wet? Normally a shake and leaving them for a few hours will allow that to soak in.

    • @rns8177
      @rns8177 2 месяца назад

      ik im a bit late on this response but soaking for 24 hours and then boiling can help bring unwanted spores that are in the grain to life. This means they are more susceptible to being killed with the pressure. Also letting your cooker depressurize naturally helps too.

    Do you bring to a boil first to warm up all that popcorn? As soon as it is starting to boil, put it on simmer?
    That pot would take 10 or 15 min get warm if you place cold water or warm water with a full pot of popcorn.
    Is it Ok just to start it out on simmer and not use the high heat to warm it up?

    • @ezmushroom
      @ezmushroom  11 месяцев назад +1

      I actually boil a kettle and pour it in the pan to speed it up so that the pan doesn't take time to heat up etc. I'd definitely start it on a simmer then add the popcorn if you cant do that.

      I use red wheat berries and typically soak for 12-24 hours then bring them to a simmer for like 10-12 minutes (until the inside is mostly translucent but a bit of white in the middle, almost like al dente pasta). Let them air dry the PC like any other grain.

      Also, I like to change the water 3-4 times during the soak. The water will be dark red at first and by the 4th it will be clear, don’t have any scientific evidence if this does anything but it’s how I’ve done it. Plus grains be dirty yo.

    Do you have to let the popcorn sit over night with the water? Or I can just jump straight into hydrating them

    • @ezmushroom
      @ezmushroom  4 месяца назад +1

      It really depends, if your using popcorn meant for human consumption it will probably be okay, if you use feed store popcorn it will have more contaminants and be dirtier.
      I always do a soak though as it just a habit at this point, it reduces the boil time, etc
