Those are amazing. I ran into a small box recently at a yard sale. It was the end of the day and I snatched them up for 10 bucks. There were four antique Victorian ornaments with paper decors and fine wire details. Ahhh. So dainty. I dropped one while trying to “fix” it. So sad. Anyhow, I love them all.
I have quite a collection if vintage and antique ornaments from 1900 to 1980. I put them back in their boxes if I have one. Mine are not so fragile like most. I do wrap some of them tho. My tree was stunning. And some are put in crystal bowls.
Oh, this video took me on a journey to my past. My family's Christmas tree had all of these ornaments and I took some when I moved into my own house....unfortunately, we discovered just how fragile they were when we woke up one morning to find our tree had fallen over. Thanks for the memory!!
I'm so glad they triggered happy memories! I can appreciate that a tree falling over would wipe them out. I broke one yesterday just taking it out of the box! I think mine are held together with attic dust and a prayer.
I recently started researching American ornaments and have fallen in love with the history of it all. I’ve always collected European ornaments, but hope to incorporate more American pieces going forward. Unfortunately, my mom and I stopped collecting Christopher Radko ornaments after we learned that he sold his company and his name in the early 2000s. There’s a short period he owned the shiny brite name and produced them under him before selling his brand but I haven’t done enough research to know how to decipher older vs newer yet. This past Christmas season my Aunt found out he started a new company called HeArtfully, and had the opportunity to meet him and have him sign a Christmas statue. It seems that the new line will be more like what his original line was when he first started!
