basically most axe/hammer in battlebots
@@AusSkillerFire is only effective if u can sustain it to a single point or can actively ignite ur opponent, otherwise most dmg it causes is superficial

poison Arrow's drone has ruined hypershock's Drive train. Than poison Arrow easily wins in season 2
This fight along with complete control v warhead are absolute highlights.
Imagine if Complete Control's fire is as hot as Gruff's.

It looks to be about the same temperature, gruff just has a whole lot more of it
Thing is, Complete Control has a concentrated Bunsen burner esque flamethrower. Gruff spews out humungous bursts of flames

the few drones i've seen all of em have been useless. They honestly shouldn't be added to the weight. 10 drones would destroy themselves vs 1 bot tbh
Yeah I agree. Also the drones need some way to stick to the enemy robot in order to actually cause damage
I think that, they're are useless but a part of the show,
There was that one time SubZero's drone accidentally tipped Malice on its back end knocked it out, lol.

I honestly really don't like axes as a weapon. I don't think I've ever seen an axe do any really effective damage, other than some light dings on the surface finish. There's a reason you don't cut steel industrially by using quick hits, you use sustained power at a low speed, like with steel shears. Something that has a pair of cylinders at the front to pull down on the axe and give it more power would be ideal, but at that point you've got a pincer, which have proven to be very effective in the past (Razor springs to mind). I wouldn't have expected the flame here to do very well, but they had it going super hot, and the grabbing system allowed them some serious sustained burning time, which is something you don't tend to get with flames as much. I was somewhat expecting the batteries to pop, though I guess they are well protected and not in the front of the robot
Axe is not effective because it requires precise timing and grab to actually have an attack. A high speed flip up will be way more effective.
Steel punch presses would like to have a word with you ;) Punching steel is how most sheet steel is formed besides plasma cutters (which leave nasty edges) and waterjet cutters.
Most axes don't have the purpose to poke holes (besides a few useless designs) but use impact force to shock the internals of the enemy robot, damaging bearings and electronics or at least shaking loose battery connectors.
Trying to puncture holes with an axe can work, but you'd need to do that with the right enemy robot, not just any.
@@someguy4915 dont punch presses do a lot of force slowly, using hydraulics or similar? And we already know that works (or used to work anyway) from Razer. Axes are more trying to chop than the shearing or piercing action of a press.
Wouldn't a hammer be more effective than an axe at doing internal damage? Using something big and heavy to get a large momentum transfer
@@amyshaw893 Depends, some punch presses use relatively slow hydraulic force, others faster mechanical force using a flywheel.
But yeah I'd absolutely take a hammer over an axe as a robot weapon. The axe can just get stuck while the hammer can keep hitting the enemy robot.
Walking chomp used one effectively, but yeah it's a real design challenge to get one with enough force to puncture in today's heavily armored, high speed bots. Which is a shame, as they're always cool af when they do finally work.

Name was on point in that match for sure.
Complete control demonstrating that for a flame to be effective it needs to be on the same area, continuously spraying. A control, grappling bot like that, perfect weapon for when you can’t swing something, nose to nose right in Bombshells circuits.
It's always good to remember this.

It feels like fires effective when you can sustain contact with it for an extended period, before the bot has any time to escape and let their internal parts cool off

It looks like the flames in the latest series of BattleBots are less hot and more for show? Am I right? From science class I remember being told the blue flame is the hottest.
The color of the flame depends on what's being burned, not the heat.
Yeah that's what I've thought when I saw some examples of it. Complete Control's flamethrower however is one of best ones I've seen so far.
The fire was much more concentrated compared to the others with a much wider spread. That in turn worked really well with their strategy and actually did some damage.
The current ruleset doesn't allow flames as actual weapons, they are only allowed for show purposes sadly

@@atherifat3889 Blue fire is "hotter" because it means there's more oxygen. However the fire is not blue because it's hot, it's simply hot for the same reason it's blue. They do not affect each other.

I really cant understand why that's not a design that's used more. I feel like it could be very effective.
Horisontal spinners tend to do extremely well, And its hard to grab them when their entire front is weapon,
Fire also doesn't tend to be very effective unless sustained for long periods of time like this was,
@@nacl4988 Yeah, I get that. Can definitely be done though - just look at the 2015 final. There are also a surprisingly small amount of horizontal spinners really compared to vertical ones. I'm just very surprised this design was only really tried once pr twice.

Grabbing people who don't want to be grabbed, is really hard.
You need to get under them *Which most bots already try to do*, Then secure them, Then lift them.
The securing part is really hard, Since they will likely try to drive away

Drones are waste of resources in BB. I have never seen a useful drone in the arena. They are mostly for added effect, but is it worth the cost?

@@bongoman9578 lol. What I meant is that they edit it that way because of how RUclips functions. That way when RUclips shows the preview people get some immediate action instead of whatever is at the actual start of the video. Trailers are often uploaded like that too. People have very little attention these days so this way they are grabbed immediately.

No, it's listed as prohibitive weapons:
The following weapon types are not allowed under any circumstances:
• Fouling devices such as glue, nets, fishing line, ball bearings and such.
• Squirting liquids or liquefied gasses such as liquid Nitrogen.
• EMP generators or other means intended to damage or jam the opponent bot’s electronics.
• Deliberate smoke generators.
• Bright lights, lasers, etc., that are distracting or dangerous to vision.
• Weapons that damage the other bot by destroying themselves

I would build a drone with an electro magnet, pick up the opponents and drop them from 200 feet.
Magnetic weapons are prohibited in the rules, with the exception of partially magnetized nuisance bots.

What is the restriction rules of this game? Can i attach a pistol or a high corrosive chemical or a hand grenade on it?
Corrosive Chemicals, no. Grenade? No way. Pistol? I think so. Brutus did that in their fight against Mobius.
@@addisonfung5009 even then the only pistol use i remember was essentially shooting firework sparks.
Overall there is extensive rules on what can and cant be used as a weapon, both for the sake of the show (which is why things like glue, magnets, nets or emps are forbidden) and also to keep the public safe (which is why potentially explosive, lasers, or sticky incendiary weapons arent allowed).

The drone didn't do anything. Why cut away from the actual action to focus on it? Was the director or editor having an off day? Please, concentrate on the main fight.
The best thing the drone did was crash, letting us watch the actual fight.
Pulverizer does nothing. Hammer nothing, screws nothing. They could change the traps for more destructive ones
