Loved the detailed installation video of Winegard rayzar. Need to know where to buy the stand it goes with it to raise it up. Winegard doesn’t seem to show it. Send link if you would. Thank you.
I found the best way to remove Dicor from my Phaeton was with an oscillating tool with a scraper blade. It made short work of the job and didn't damage the fiberlgass.
Sorry for the LONG delay in this response...But Yes, I HAVE TO GET me one of those tools!!!! :) Thanks Dave for the reminder. (I had seen this comment when coming to respond to a new comment.)
Great video! From watching this, now I know how my OTA antenna is wired on my Phaeton. Since I bought my RV used, I wasn't sure how the OTA antenna was wired up.
After watching your video, maybe Wingard will make a simple adaptor that will allow people with the original mount like you have to bolt the Razor to the existing mount. No drilling, no dicor, just a couple of bolts-Done. I wish they made one that would bolt to the existing bat-wing antenna. Then it would be up above any roof obstructions and down for travel. Great video David, thanks for posting, say hey to Brenda.
Dave were you not concerned about hitting the underlying wiring (for either wires or A/C drains tubes) under the surface of the roof when you were drilling all of those holes for the screws to mount the support stand?
Maybe if you set the legs on a bed of dicor and let the screws sandwich and compress sealant between the roof and the bracket it may have been a little tidier. Then cover it with more. Maybe a better seal too. Great video. Always informative.
Good job and you will see us one day. I just love your humor. You are a good man this is the things I’m looking for. We still have 2 more years before we can hit the road. But I’ll be buying stuff along the way Have a good day. Do you have any advice on at&t data hotspots booster.
Good Job.. I changed out my done for a updated Dish set up and I ended up with more Dicor on me then I had on the roof.. Good stuff.. But what a mess it can make..
Thanks for the video and straight up presentation! We currently have a Winegard Rayzar Z1 antenna, sounds like other than the mounting holes, the Rayzar OTA HD Antenna would be a direct upgrade since it is powered over the coax cable? I don't want to have to run new wires up to my roof.
Where do you have the video clip of the inside install. I have a Winegard distribuion box and would like to keep it? However it and the Rayzar both need the use of the same DC volt supply.
Sorry, not sure what you are asking as I show the inside install in the video... ruclips.net/video/pDDAngQBYdM/видео.html But my install would be different than yours anyway as the coach is different. All you need is 12V so not sure on your issue as you would still plug it into the distribution as you still need to send it though the coach.
David, can you give an update on this antenna? I was looking at this for my RV, but not sure anymore after reviewing so many bad reviews of unit failing.
We have had no issues. From my understanding in talking with Winegard...Motor issues were from a few years back as they received a bad batch from the supplier. I have not had any issues with mine at all I am happy to report.
I am thinking about getting one myself but probably would cut the aluminum stand out of the way but not disturb the Dicor. I have one question however, do you need the other box at all that Dave left that has the ERR message?
No, not needed at all. I just left it until I have something to put in the hole. :-) Yes, I thought about cutting it as it would come off quickly with a Dremel. But I figured I would leave it as if we sell the coach I would like take that with me and the lifts may be useable for something else to the next owner.
I just replace 12yr old saucer antenna with this one, only 40 miles from DFW metro, and live on Hill too, No signals at all, but installer got 64 signals, at the most 10miles difference. I got 4 channels with old one. do U think the stand would give us better chance of a signal??
40 miles is a very far for this size antenna. You for all you know you could be pointing the antenna right at the AC unit and that would surely not be good. I have no idea what you have as a RV or motor coach and if it has roof risers or not on the sides. You surely would like the antenna up as far as you could for like I mentioned, and AC could be blocking it for all I know. But 40 miles is a distance and I have no way to know what is between you and the towers, at the installers, nothing may be in the way.
@@DavidBott Yes, I thought of all that too, but we took it out on a trip, into the thick woods of Eastern OK, and to our surprise we got stations from Ark.which was more like 75-100miles away, through forest and very high hills, they call mountains, part of the Ozarks. @@thehirm Hi...Not sure what to tell you. You can move 5 miles and have different reception as it is all based on what may be between you and the transmitting tower. Are you rescanning for signals on the Rayzar controller? Hold down SEARCH button for 5 seconds and when it starts the LEDs spinning around, let go. This will rescan for signals. After that it should auto point in the direction that it could see the most frequencies. Why didn’t you just remove the old antenna off the stand and adapt the new mounting plate to attach to the old legs by removing the legs off the new plate. Hysterical way no new holes in the roof?
Did not think of it during a live non-stop shoot. Even if I did, I likely would want the structure engineered by Winegard for the product. It does have more size and this resistance to wind when driving then the old, much thinner one would.

Hi...That info was in the video description. :)
I checked the reviews for this antenea and found them quite unfavorable. It has been a year since this posting, how is your unit operating and have you had any E3 errors as a lot of people have had. Thanks.
Hi...I have not. The issues people had were the motors that were used from a bad batch from a supplier. The bad thing is it took time for the failure to occur so they did not know there was a part issue.
How do I find where all my cables come together in the motor home
Sorry, but that is way to open of a question. I would suggest finding a user community on-line that has the same RV as you and ask in that group where you may find what you may be looking for.
Should have used some zip ties to hold the extra wire
Wanted it protected from water. It's no big deal as it does not take much to hold it down.
Ahhh ok gotcha. Thanks for the info
Great video David...you seem to be a nice fella.
You should wear old clothes to wipe your hands on.
Good to see you can kneel.. I have to use knee pads.
What camera and editing system are you using?
Winegard should give you some freebies.
Oops. Sorry wrong video.
I bet your still trying to get the sealant off your hands
Nope...Paint thinner does wonderful which I mentioned in my voice overlay at the ending logo bumper.
Ok you got me lol
I can tell you---You got way too much on you roof!! Have to stay with the KISS principle. Then you still had to show us removing the dicor, boring!!
