Sydney Runway Closure! Qantas A330 turbulent landing. East / West Runway 25 in heavy wind.

- High winds have led to the closure of two runways at Sydney Airport. With the main runway and the third runway closed, flights were directed to the East West runway.
There were a lot of flight cancellations at Sydney but luckily Qantas QF574 landed on Runway 25.
This is 9 minutes of that flight including the flight path, holding, flying over Sydney Airport, approach and a windy landing! A bit turbulent too! Enjoy the engine spools and a few bumps!!

Yes I have,on a PAN AM SP in Dec 1984 and sure it was Captain's first time as he crunched it.
Nice landing considering the conditions. I was on a flight that landed on Runway 25 a few years back and was very confused when we flew over the golf course as I assumed that that runway had been closed permanently.
Old mate was working overtime on that throttle. Did a pretty good job from what I can see!
Better be careful with the 9 irons on the courses there

Yes landed there on 25 in a piper warrior back in the 80's sometime when i was a wee little fella.

FYI RWY 16R/34L only get closed for operational reasons ie maintenance and works etc, the 16R/34L does remain operational to aircraft and pilots for example Singapore A380.
ATC at SYD will hold off as long as possible using RWY 25 and the relay seen RWY 07 as this gridlocks the taxiways.

This is old footage, well over a year… 08:02, does not show the new taxiway, TWY D extension and stand off bays which I’ve been part of for the last 12 months…

I landed in Sydney last Friday late AM after an overnighter from Ho Chi Minh, just as the weather was moving in. We circled over what I believe was the Dubbo area above the solid weather for about 30 minutes before the pilot had the wing upper surface flaps up and did a dive bomb run down through the weather which was down to about 1500 ft before landing on the North South runway. Had a few hour wait for a connection and the weather just slowly got worse the entire day.
