Nice explanation. I guess the same idea is employed by Toyota in their Hybrid Synergy Drive, only electric instead of hydraulic.

The XE from 2013 is now confused with the 2021 XE, which is a now a diesel/electric hybrid. Should be deleted or have its title changed.
