We have witnessed that when duaat come back from Madina University they tend to want to water down salafiyyah and don't want to call themselves salafi because the paymasters are upon a other Aqeeda. Alhamdulillah our ustadh from South Africa studied with Shaykh Hasan Somali at Darul Hadith in Yemen and I personally think the students of Shaykh Muqbil and Shaykh Mogamad Abdul Wahab al Wasabi are much stronger than some Madina graduates.

As an ignorant person in this topic, why don't salafis just call themselves sunni? What's the difference? Don't they both follow the first few generations after the Prophet (saws).
You can call yourself sunni. But everyone calls themselves sunni. From the graveworshiper to the one believes Allah is everywhere.

A Muslim is supposed to be a Salafi Sunni and he's commanded to differentiate himself from the rest of the creation.
No, sunni is a general word. A deobandi claims to be a sunni a bralvi claim to be a sunni a sufi claim to be from the people of sunna. So how do we know who's on truth?. We have to differentiate ourselves from them because of the bidah they have in there aqeeda and because of the shirk. The sufi who claim to be a sunni does not follow the sunna rather thwy follow stories and week hadeeth. Basically Salafi means to follow the companion of the beloved prophet and understand islam how they understood it. And we do not mix the truth with falsehood. I was one a sufi myself and My family is follower sufism and alhamdulillah allah showed me the right path and may allah guide them. Jazakallah khair

I have been lost for a while in terms of what manhaj to be upon, salafi makes so much more sense however I need to see knowledge its just that I work in the evenings and most lessons are in the evenings are there any lessons on Sunday ?

What does it take to become a sheikh? Does one stay his whole life a student? Akhi being a sheikh is not only in age, but also in knowledge. There are other things to worry about that are more important. You should see islamic countries, they call everyone with a qamies a sheikh only in the west people become offended subhan Allah.

Call yourself Salafi call yourself muslim or sunni whatever ALLAH KNOWS YOUR INTENTIONS ON PRACTICING THE BEST YOU CAN BY YOUR WHAT YOU UNDERSTANDING AND COMPREHEND we will all fall short in this deen! - salaf.com (great guide for western Muslims in understanding the pure Islam and the misconception, refutations against misguided people or deviant principles, etc,.) go and navigate the website and you won’t regret akhi.
- I can send long explanation explaining your error but those websites will suffice. Likewise, abukhadeejah.com is a good website to learn and help cure doubts and misconceptions from the past and present circulated on the internet and also a good website to learn Islam correctly .
