I remember in the pre-multiplayer days when people would design all kinds of custom weapons, and it took until today to actually see one used in combat
Lewis Massie It's almost baffling just how rare custom weapons seem to be in SE, considering their potential effectiveness. All of these ships took dozens of rockets just to take significant hull damage, but just one of those torpedoes was enough to obliterate half of that one near the end. If servers didn't constantly place heavy restrictions on use of certain features and blocks, as well as build size (people are often forced to build or rely on one-man assault corvettes, which is absurd), then maybe PMWs would get the use they truly deserve. Alas: Server owners are lazy control freaks who will use SE's piss-poor optimization as a (valid, but poor) excuse to oppress the hell out of the meta-game. This game has had a multiplayer feature for about a few years now, but it's still not very active. Why the hell are pseudo-vanilla English-speaking servers with scripts enabled so hard to come by? Why the hell can I neither build mechs or ships longer than 100m on most servers? Hosting an active server surely isn't cheap. If they can afford to host these servers, then can these people not simply buy more fucking RAM?

These kind of events where players come and fight in there massive ships over valuables is actually some of the best Space Engineers content on this channel. It's so entertaining, we get to see some amazing looking ships - be cool to see some dreadnought sized ones instead of destroyers and cruisers but with the issues already not sure it's possible. But possibly a massive drifting titan would be cool, where people can access various treasures inside, even perhaps some cool ship attached to it that a faction could steal. Ooof I'm getting into these!
Big ships take alot of time to build so thats why we see more of this lighter class of ship. I personally prefer this as it far more interesting see them maneuver rather than just give and take fire.
I made a cruiser sized ship that had the same weight and fire class as a super heavy capital ship. ;) Handled like a whale but had the capacity to become a reaper with the sheer volume of Dakka it could level. Sadly it needs a crew of 6 to be fully functional unless a single person is an actual computer

@@TheRezro Right, so there is a scale that measures the mass and the ohms of firepower a ship is and its placement on this scale is not necessarily based on size of the ship itself So a cruiser sized vessel with the mass rating of a dreadnought and ohms of firepower equal to, if not more than, a battleship is considered a super heavy capital as It does not meet full requirements for dreadnought class but the mass rating rates it too high for the standard capital ship ranking.

xD they are . MCRN morrigan Class destroyers docked and the stealth ship is the amun ra class frigate . they fit well for the factions we have created story wise.
18:40 Maybe restricting players from using SE rocket launchers would inspire more player made weapons to be used. Especially if turret counts are limited per ship (or disabled for floating grids all together, so they're only for bases) That way the most effective weapon is the rotor gatlings, gravity torpedoes, guided missiles and who knows what... Maybe certain factions could even buy scripts to be used, from the ecologists/Gun Smugglers. (for manually controlled turrets and guided weapons.) That way if there's abuse - you know which players are responsible, because you have a list of users - so you can eventually track them down.
No scripts allowed so guided missiles need antenna or laser antenna which costs a lot. Gatling and Missile turrets are disabled also and its why those ships take so long to fight. That shot in the video is a rare event under those circumstances.

Im probably one of the few people who love watching space engineers video and never have played it. I love the ships and to battle but I never know the factions or can tell who's who's. If you had a brief rundown would happen me understand the world better

An Idea. Just like the stealth-ship, maybe some kinda underworld-proven major battleships/underworld 'legends'? A big massive carrier with maybe tamed beasts or perhaps just a rogue scientist ship/stolen battlecruiser that the players could either capture or bring back to the scientists for plentifull rewards?

Huskers ship designs for theses events have defiantly had that feel.
those docked looked like scirocco class cruisers, while the one fighting was a protogen amun-ra stealth ship

I really don't like restricting players to much I feel that the missile launchers require quite a bit of skill to land a shot on a competent target.

The connection issues are alot less frequent on the underworld iteration compared to the mad max iteration, sim speed is also abit more stable.
