I have actually ran into this problem quite often when I did residential.
best kind of failure, stays on is better than wont start.
:55 look how clean his setup is, almost never happens!
Keep up the good work Josh! I too suffer from OCDHVAC!
Rescue motors are my go-to on older units if they're available. They are usually significantly cheaper than the OEM and fairly simple to install.
Had the same problem with a Carrier x13 continuous run without inputs. Replaced with Evergreen x13 (2yr motor warranty) OEM (1yr warranty ) outside of factory warranty.
ECM MOTORS ARE NOT THE BESTEST, JUST HIGH PRICES IN THE NAME OF EFFICIENCY.
CAIN'T BEAT A PSC MOTOR.
Psc all the way!
Everything made now a days is honestly garbage, nothing lasts! Everything made of paper now a days!
You can replace an ECM with a PSC motor, that's what I would do. Cheaper part and will last way longer. Otherwise, why wouldn't he just replace the control module on this bad ECM motor because obviously the motor is still good, it's running just fine.
@@1PooNGooN3 ecm has nothing but problems, i replaced more ECM motors than a PSC believe it or not
I am an HVAC/R wholesaler and I find this video quite helpful. Thank you sir.
Thanks for All you do Brother!
I get these often, I have yet to take one apart to see what failed but would really like to!
8:21 the part that almost never happens. Great video bro!
Change a ton of those in ICP/Carrier here for the same issue. They are now just giving us universal replacement motors.
Good job, looking forward to your next vid!
Drip leg is looking great 🤙🏻love the videos keep up the great content !
Uncommon? I see this happen pretty frequently with the ecm motors
I don't see that issue ever.
He’s referring to the warranty being close to running out
I love how on these service call videos, he does what an AAR of the troubleshooting he did, in order, and what he found (AAR is After Action Report for you non military/non veteran people)
All you had to do is add a standard traditional fan relay and break the black high volt common wire at the high volt side of relay and then blue and green to the control side of the relay - ✅
Yea, only problem with doing that. Is if u make the customer a fix that works & makes them comfortable some people say - hey just leave it like that. I’m fine I want to save some money. You have to be careful who you do that with. If Your sure they are the kind of customer that wants it fixed correctly & are grateful for a hold over fix. Then u can do that kind of stuff.
Unfortunately a lot of People more often than not will say the temp. Fix is good enough & u open another can of worms.
especially when the motor quits out of warranty. & trying to explain that the motor will eventually fail open & then they are back to square 1 WITHOUT a warranty & big bill.
That fix works. Never had to go back. The only thing that will take it out is a grunting no go on the ECM motor itself which is how most fail anyway
Great Video. Thank you for sharing
FYZ…. Stock 1 Evergreen VS motor, 1 Evergreen VS user interface & 1 Genteq 16-4 pin adapter & you will always be able to handle a failed ECM on the spot. This is manufactured by Regal Rexnord which has a distribution center up the road from you in Nashville. All components available from United or Supply House for approximately $500.
I tend to agree with your thought process on the motor.
I have found if the signal for the speed drops out the motor will run the last cal received.
The scenario I had was someone wired in a wet switch breaking the transformer on a climate master. It got wet did just that and the fan ran indefinitely until I shut the units high voltage off and turned it back on
Zac, I look forward to the final repair 👍 Au
Stay tuned! 😊
I dont think ive ever ran into that one before. Its always the opposite.. wont come on at all. Good work man! 👏🏼
Thx brother!
This almost always happens. I swapped 2 motors with this issue just recently
I was referring to the under warranty timing.
I had the same problem on my air handler. Turned out to be a bad relay. Easy fix.
That definitely wasn't a relay issue.
And it is true that normally one does not carry a stock of variable speed motors due to the cost and sometimes considering the expression of the client when he lets us know his budget, sometimes one helps him by changing it for a standard motor, especially if the unit is many years old.
Dont be a hater bro. You have your opinion on his content and thats fine, but keep it to yourself and appreciate it. Met this guy coming out of chick fil a with his family he's actually pretty cool.
I ran into this on a day and night(carrier style) as well. Ecm units should have surge protectors. Those. Modules are very sensitive
Where did you get the tool bag?
Tu sonrisa atrae al público a ver Disney World en vivo
😂
What’s common is often very subjective
ECM motors are just flat fragile
Any possibilities of a shop tour vid
Coming soon! 🤫
You can replace the modules on alot of those motors but at least in my area no one stocks them anyway lol. My area sucks for supply houses. We have a webb but ours doesn't stock shit for motors of really any kind
A lot of manufacturers are doing away with the modules along. You have to buy new motor module combo that is all in one.
@@smith-mundtnews1406 I'm still able to order them so far. Havnt heard of this, why would they do such a thing
don't you have a Johnstone supply house? and most of those motors you can't replace this and that, you need a new one.
@@themrmoy40 no
They are no longer supply houses, they are order houses. You have to order every part.
The compressor panels on Tranes and carrier style packaged equipment suck . Idk if anyone else feels the same. I almost have to fight most of them to go back in and line up the screw holes.
Thanks sir 🎉 from Pakistan 🇵🇰
blower is running all the time wont shut off. Customer has fan set to on position at T stat. Then gets upset when you explain this and refuses to pay for the call.
Mars 10861. Or 10868
Couldn’t you just add a peanut relay? Breaking the high voltage. Honest question
This happens more than “almost never”😂
When are you going to wrap your van with logos?
Don’t plan on it.
I said to myself “it’s a module” in the first 10 seconds of the video.
👍🏿
ECM motors are not a scam…..but almost
I see what you did there…🫠
The click bait is a getting a little out of hand, not hating because I like your videos and your work. Just a little click baity lately
8:10 not clickbait
I understand where you are coming from, but the title is referencing the in warranty timing.
I’ve had a ton of modules go bad, but normally the motor won’t run. So the title fits
How is that click bait ?
Cry about it
Never underestimate the manufactures ability to make a crappy design making service techs job 10 times more difficult
That drip leg is too short
Rule #1: Impact guns are NOT to be used as screw guns
It’s all in the technique 🥴
