Thank you Doc for this video. I was diagnosed with HER2+ breast ca, stage 4. I’m on my fourth cycle come Monday. Had my pet scan after the third cycle and my oncologist said the treatment is doing me good. Thank God!

My tumor could not be felt manually by me, the oncologist, nor my PCP.....I tell everyone....get your mammogram.

I was the same only for a scan for something else. It would not have been found. There was no lump.

Hi thank you for explaining this! My two nieces 21 and 27 have just been diagnosed with hormone receptive cancer with HER2 positive cells as has my 62 year old aunt. As you can imagine we are stunned. Your explanation has helped because even though the oncologist was excellent and did explain very clearly what was the treatment we were going to follow we were in a state of shock when she said agressive cancer

Do you always recommend chemotherapy with HER2+ or can the patient receive 12 months of targeted without chemo?

Hello, could you please talk about grade 3 breast cancer. Is there a higher risk of recurrence when the tumor is small but grade 3? Thank you!

I was her 2positive and had 2 small tumours that were invasive and in the sentinel and auxiliary nodes. I only had 3 treatments of herceptin. I had anaphalaxis to the herceptin and had stop treatment. I had chemotherapy and am now on femara and have been on that drug for 6yrs . So far so good but none can tell me if without herceptin will this continue.

Thank you so much for doing this video!!!! I was diagnosed with breast cancer Nov 2018 and had my surgery in Feb. the reason for the long time was all the testing done to know if I would be doing a Lumpectomy or Mastectomy would be needed. Dr. office called yesterday to set my 1st appointment with the Medical Oncologist and she said my pathology test from surgery had a receptor change from my biopsy done in Nov. Her2 was the new change and that Chemotherapy would be back on the table 😔 and that the Dr. wanted me to know this before our appointment. I went to my finding from my Surgeon ( follow-up from surgery was done last Friday) because he had not said anything about this. Come to find out there was a page missing from my folder from Friday and that yes there had been a change. Of course what did I do? I freaked out. I wish I could hold it together better but the last couple months and weeks have been super hard to do this. This morning your video came up and am feeling a bit better. I will never be able to thank you enough for doing this.

Hello, first I'd like to thank you for taking the time to make these videos and explain things so well. I was diagnosed with HER2 positive BC July 2017. I'm wondering how did I get this HER2 oncogene? That's the part I don't understand. Where did it come from in the first place? I understand ER/PR because they are hormones that are naturally present in your body. Thanks!

HER2 receptors (and the gene that makes them) are present in all breast cells. A HER2 positive breast cancer just has too many receptors or too many genes making the receptors.
