HER2 Positive Breast Cancer: Do You Know Your Status?
What is HER2 positive breast cancer? It is a breast cancer that has an overexpression of the HER2 oncogene. Because of this overexpression, the cancer makes too much HER2 receptor protein which makes the cancer more aggressive. For more information go to: www.lisaschwartzmd.com/

There has been so much in the news about the benefits of vitamin D that you might believe it's the cure all for any ailment. Well, it's not quite that, but it may be very important to breast cancer patients (or those who don't want to be breast cancer patients). For more information about breast cancer and healthy lifestyle changes go to LisaSchwartzMD.com.

    Thank you. That’s the best explanation I’ve heard so far. Just prior to my diagnosis of De Novo stage 4 ILC I had a lot of bad blood results. I hadn’t checked the year prior due to COVID. But my D was down to 63 prior always around 75.. (I live in Australia so enjoy being outside). On diagnosis I also had high HbA1c and eGFR had dropped from 80 to 55 & creatinine was high. These were red flags for me but GP was not overly concerned (they probably saw worse reading but I knew me). Why don’t GPs know this and listen when you tell them, no this isn’t normal for me.

    Dr. Schwartz, could being diagnosed with LCIS and ALH - two separate biopsies over a period of 2-3 years- make someone a candidate for a bilateral prophylactic mastectomy? The direct family line does not have breast cancer but there are two maternal first cousins who have been diagnosed with cancer both young-30s and 40s. Also, the BRCA test, while negative, I was told it was inconclusive. The breast specialist said the risk was high - 40%-60%

    I was her 2positive and had 2 small tumours that were invasive and in the sentinel and auxiliary nodes. I only had 3 treatments of herceptin. I had anaphalaxis to the herceptin and had stop treatment. I had chemotherapy and am now on femara and have been on that drug for 6yrs . So far so good but none can tell me if without herceptin will this continue.

Can you give me tips or things that my mom could do and also what type of food and fruits intake. Thank You. P.S. does herceptin may lead to heart attack? or site any side effects pls. Thank you so much for doing this video!!!! I was diagnosed with breast cancer Nov 2018 and had my surgery in Feb. the reason for the long time was all the testing done to know if I would be doing a Lumpectomy or Mastectomy would be needed. Dr. office called yesterday to set my 1st appointment with the Medical Oncologist and she said my pathology test from surgery had a receptor change from my biopsy done in Nov. Her2 was the new change and that Chemotherapy would be back on the table 😔 and that the Dr. wanted me to know this before our appointment. I went to my finding from my Surgeon ( follow-up from surgery was done last Friday) because he had not said anything about this. Come to find out there was a page missing from my folder from Friday and that yes there had been a change. Of course what did I do? I freaked out. I wish I could hold it together better but the last couple months and weeks have been super hard to do this. This morning your video came up and am feeling a bit better. I will never be able to thank you enough for doing this.

    Hello, first I'd like to thank you for taking the time to make these videos and explain things so well. I was diagnosed with HER2 positive BC July 2017. I'm wondering how did I get this HER2 oncogene? That's the part I don't understand. Where did it come from in the first place? I understand ER/PR because they are hormones that are naturally present in your body. Thanks!

    • @lisaschwartzmd4236
      @lisaschwartzmd4236 6 лет назад

      HER2 receptors (and the gene that makes them) are present in all breast cells. A HER2 positive breast cancer just has too many receptors or too many genes making the receptors.
