- SpaceX just launched a Tesla Roadster to Mars on this: SpaceX's Falcon Heavy rocket.
This was the Falcon Heavy's maiden flight. It's the launch that everyone's been waiting for. The Falcon Heavy is a monster.
It has 27 engines, can generate more power than 18 747 jumbo jets, and is the most powerful rocket to fly since NASA's moon rocket, the Saturn V.
Making it the most powerful functioning rocket on Earth. This is one of SpaceX's most difficult launches. Musk even said "Just bear in mind that there is a good chance this monster rocket blows up."
But it didn't!
Even though this was a test launch, Musk took the opportunity to send some payload to space. A Tesla Roadster, which will eventually reach Mars' orbit.
Now, that's a rocket test like we've never seen before. Afterward, SpaceX retrieved each of the 3 boosters for possible reuse. They landed one booster on a drone ship in the Atlantic Ocean and 2 at its landing base in Florida.
Musk has said the Falcon Heavy could usher people to Mars someday in the future. That day now looks closer than ever. And who knows?
Maybe a Roadster will be waiting when they get there.

They recorded all flight, but youll still come up with some other bullshit.. and yes, the earth is spinning, but it does that for regular airplanes too? You dont stop spinning alongside just because you left the floor for a minute, do you?

Probably didn’t. But that doesn’t matter because they’ve landed em before this mission too. The main thing is the Falcon Heavy launching successfully. They were launching it for the first time and succeeded and that is what matters. They’ve been recovering other stages for a while now. I’m sure they’ll recover em in the next flight of the Falcon Heavy.

SpaceX has a live stream on their youtube channel right now with the live feed of the Tesla in orbit. No audio, but still cool to see.
Video is a bit misleading, it's not going to Mars as a destination. It'll just be a flyby in it's intended orbit around the sun. Pretty cool though! There's a live cam on it right now if people want to see it.

😂 ive never met someone so naive about how money works. Many people saw the rocket split in midair and land on the ground so all these people were paid? Or lied to? Logically it could happen but for what purpose? Why give people hope about space travel and waste millions on paying for the rocket and people. Well, i's not actually going to Mars. It was placed in an orbit around the Sun that crosses Mars' orbit. The engines performed better than expected, so it will actually go as far out as the asteroid belt. If this ricked were used in the future to actually send a payload to Mars, it would take about the same time to get there as other payloads have done. It will just cost a lot less.

@@justindtackett Not sure what you are talking about, NASA would not approve manned mission on any rocket before a test flight is done, that is the only reason they do this without sending anything up there on the first flight. Because the design of the rocket is new, it could blow up, no one is crazy enough to put their satellite in there for the first flight, so he put a tesla in just for the fun of it.

Fake, rocket does not go straight up but starts to back out to sea. Cgi used to show car floating up out to space. Lovely clear images of rockets, car space and earth with sea below. But lack of stars, space debris and satellites orbiting the earth. Also if the car has no power and just left to float to mars surly the car would be dragged back down to earth by the earth gravitational pull. And how is a rich man allowed to leave junk in space. Technically the space shuttle actually was more powerful than the Falcon heavy. It's just that the Falcon heavy has more capacity. The space shuttle was carrying a lot of its own weight, which reduced capacity

But not even satellites in the way people think of them are real because if you watch them getting launched, they do it with helium balloons and the balloons are always on the satellites until they wear out then someone in a plane catches them.
