  • By chronicling the settlement of the American Colonies, the formation of colonial governments, and the tension that resulted from the economic strain on Great Britain for its prosecution of the Seven Years War with France, this film illustrates how Great Britain’s attempt to make the American colonies pay for its debts, among other issues, brought about a revolution.
The British parliament's passage of the Stamp, Sugar, Tea, and Intolerable Acts, and the effects of those on the colonies, are all thoroughly explained, along with the subsequent reaction of American settlers on the frontier, settling lands beyond the Proclamation Line of 1763, to the events in Boston. This production includes a dramatic portrayal of the opening battles at Lexington and Concord and follows the disorganized militias to Boston, where they laid siege to the occupied city.
Permission to utilize this film has been given to the Society of the Cincinnati, Inc. and its American Revolution Institute by the Witnessing History Education Foundation, Inc., PO Box 1208, Lexington, Kentucky, 40588-1208, the producer of the film and the holder of the copyright thereof, and by the president of that Foundation, Kent Masterson Brown, a member of the New York State Society of the Cincinnati.
