i wonder if I was able to take a wall mount & convert to a base mount instead?. I have a reinforced shelf where all my plug ins are for tv but this area is big enough for a 19 in tv. Previously, there was something bolted there but not when we purchased.
I've been debating this method. While I'm not a professional, the advice I was given by a pro, was to add as big of a block you can (2x4 or bigger) to put between the mount and ceiling. You DO NOT want screws going through your ceiling, that will cause leaks. Use super sturdy hardware as well!
A issue i have ive bought so many mounts and they come with these massive screws. That in my case will probably go all the way thru the tv backer to the outside of the camper, obviously i dont want that. In your opinion do you think its possible to get smaller screws at a hardware store and just remove the tv during travel?
Use blocks, like 2x4 or bigger, to give you more surface to mount into and prevent going through your walls! Also, work off of any metal frame you have if that's possible, for extra durability

How would you beef up your RV ceiling to support a tv mount? Concerned ceiling material not strong enough to support.

Velcro straps for travel mate. Or a velcro belt
