Excellent episode! I’m with y’all.. has to be something I really want for me to chase it these days and with so many options trying to be in this “premium” category doing your research on what it really is goes a long way.
My perspective on this is if I’m going to spend 600 on a whiskey it’ll be 12 bottles of rare breed over a single bottle of Boss hog every day of the week. I’m retired and on a fixed income and I’m a big fan of all spirits but I have to be smart on my purchases. I certainly wouldn’t tell anyone how to spend their money but for me I rarely go over 80 for a bottle. When I was working my cap was 150 so things change in everyone’s life.
Exactly what you said. I'm in the same boat, having had to cut back on my purchases in the past year or so. Now I have to try and identify what's really solid and reliable among all the tons of releases, and for me that means sticking with the legacy distillers for the most part...rather not drop big coin on a craft bottle that's just "meh".
