well! I haven't seen this commercial since late summer 1988. I was a 5 yr old boy who just moved to west Philadelphia from Los Angeles at the time. I really liked this commercial then, and that was the first time I heard this song. I found this song here on RUclips in recent years and I loved it ever since. thanx for returning a great memory to me.

I remember this commercial use to always give me kid depression because school was returning. And then there was another one where the lunch lady wore a hairnet and held a spoon with a wicked smile.

I remember when this commercial came out when I was in elementary in NY and then they pulled it. The cafeteria workers were heated.

True. Lawsuits were threatened and such. I think it was only actually on for like 2 weeks before they pulled it entirely.

@@TyUnglebower it was on for like a month before the ad was pulled in 1988. Then it was reintroduced for about 2 weeks in 1999 and then got pulled off again.

I remember the national school board was so angry that eventually they had it pulled. They kept showing it in mid August for about 3 years and they got fed up

It didn't show in 1989 but it came back in 1990 briefly, then was forever pulled off the air. Shortly afterwards and years later, the Roy Rogers franchise went belly up here in the city.

The infamous commercial that was pulled off the air back in 1988 due to its content being deemed "offensive" to food service workers in the NYC Public Schools. I hate to say that it was blown too out of proportion by causing this commercial to be boycotted. I was entering 8th grade ready to graduate when this came out here in NYC. This is one of the examples of the beginning of "political correctness" in mainstream media. In 1990 the commercial was again revived only to be shot down a second time.😢
