The sad thing is that Earl hated that Tiptoe Through the Tulips song. So kudos to him for always doing it. Geoff was asked once what song they'd do if they were ever to perform for the President, and he said this one, as it always goes down so well.
I had no idea Earl disliked that song. He did it well. I just remember Geoff saying that they needed a song that was silly even if people didn't know about Tiny Tim. it actually goes back to 1929. ruclips.net/video/0-MPTrWJ1uM/видео.html
Yes! Chicken Song! There's a full one with Tony, another full one with Paul from Toxic Audio subbing in when Tony was stuck in Orlando because of a hurricane, and the one that's incomplete. Paul's ad lib ("They didn't pay me enough for this!") is funny.
I just love watching people see this for the first time. Just love this so much, hate that I never saw it in person, but yes, hope they can revisit it at some point. I just love Tony's expressions, he's so adorable. Thanks for the reaction, appreciate it!!
Tony and Layne working together at Pattycake has got to be a "trip". I would love to sit with these guys at a Denny's or some all night restaurant at 2 in the morning and just laugh until I hurt. I wonder how hard it is to get the 10 or so minutes of BTS for their videos that are actually PG13. LOL And BTW, Geoff's next solo has me wiggling in my seat with no patience at all. Should be out right after the first of the month I think. Not sure if you've watched the Sing Off song they did with Street Corner Symphony. Adam Chance, now with Home Free, was the bass for the group. It's on their page I think.
Yes, they did this as part of the Sing-Off tour They were given 20 minutes and were finally able to perform as VoicePlay and not Honey LaRochelle + Five Guys. Can you imagine how awesome it would be if they did this with Cesar? Omar or Jose would be good to do Tony's part ... if they couldn't talk Tony into performing again. I really like his voice. Tony is the one driving (and singing lead) in Stuck In Traffic, one of their 1-Minute musicals. ruclips.net/video/eod5olKkRFI/видео.html
I always hated that the network insisted on a female singer that they normally didn’t perform with. I didn’t think she meshed well with them. They have done so many collaborations and they always seemed seamless. But while she may be very talented it just didn’t seem to be a good match. The sing off didn’t let VoicePlay be VoicePlay. They just have way too much talent and such a unique style to be fit into a little tiny box. I’ve read that they did something similar to Home Free, limiting the kind of music they could do even though they did a wide variety of songs at that time. I guess you’ve got to take the bad with the good but they really didn’t get to perform as VoicePlay. You nailed it.
@@janetdw I've heard VP originally auditioned with Rachel Potter, got accepted, but then Rachel was not available, and the producers still wanted them to have a female voice. You're right, they've had some great collaborators ... but Honey just isn't a good fit, imo. I don't know if it was those particular songs or arrangements, because I've liked the songs they've done with Rachel, Deedee, and Emoni, and all the other gals since. Maybe Honey's voice is just too high given how high Earl goes. Yes, they did strongly *cough * encourage Home Free to lean in to being country. They had auditioned three times before and not made it. But for season 4 something was going on in pop culture that the producers thought a country group could win it all even before the season started. They had to decide if that was how they wanted to be defined because they did not consider themselves to be country. Chris Rupp Official talks about it in his History of Home Free episode #5 or #4 on his channel, reminiscing with Austin and Tim. Cool side note: Apparently Street Corner Symphony had been accepted but their bass wasn't available and they invited Tim to join the group. He said no. At that point he didn't want to do country or a cappella anymore. Which left the door open for Adam Chance to join SCS as their bass, become friends with the HF guys (even appeared as an extra in a few HF videos) and later join them as their baritone when Chris decided to go solo.
@@shirleykarr560 That makes sense. Tbh I don't think Honey's _voice_ was the main problem, but the fact that she did like 90% of the lead singing, - even "Don't You Forget About Me" that was originally performed by a male singer - so ALL the guys were relegated to background singers. When I first heard about it I couldn't fathom how tf VoicePlay could have lost, until I saw the performances they did and realized they basically weren't allowed to BE VoicePlay in that contest.
@@janetdw The Sing-Off is the reason Home Free is now labelled as "Country." I think it was the show producers that came up with the idea of them being the world's first (and only, still?) country a cappella group. They branch off into a wide variety of music genres but still keep the "country" label.
Love this one so much, my RUclips plays it pretty much every time I leave it on shuffle. Geoff did the arrangement and I think he's credited Kathy with some of the creative input.
This was one of the first songs of thiers that i saw. Laugh everytime i watch it. Glad you did a reaction to it i really needed a good laugh as i recently lost my mom. Thanks dennis. Tell the family hi for me. Love yall
It was shortly after this that VP and HF did the Survivors: Zombies vs Hillbillies. I'm guessing that the 2 groups got along pretty well. On the show, Honey sang with them and my second favorite after this on tour is "Play That Funky Music" which was terrific.
12:24-1243 And you said you have no singing/musical knowledge. Coming from someone who has had some singing experience and has been doing it a while AND sing bass, that is very accurate. And that is impressive that you know that considering how little of a musical background you have as far as actually performing. Also, I agree that this was very creative and cool how they put all of these songs together to create this mini musical type of thing.
Love your reactions!!! Should definitely check out their Chicken Song video. They have two of them, the second one Tony was gone so they had a sub for him.
Geoff said recently in a Voiceplay chat that they will not be going back on tour. Too much involved each show that they feel they don't want to deal with anymore. They're just going to continue making videos on RUclips for everyone to enjoy.
ROFLMFAO!!!! I just got yelled at from the other room... Mom(who actually loved the video herself until i kept singing tiptoe through the tulips randomly until she got it stuck in her head then threatened decapitation): YOU'RE NOT WATCHING THAT VIDEO AGIAN ARE YOU!!!!"... Me: (turns off video) NOPE!!! (GIGGLES EVILY)

@@shirleykarr560 Tiny Tim ruined that song for a long of people, making a rather sweet old song into something rather creepy.
i think that makes it funnier. you can kinda hear it in his voice 😅
Thank you Dennis.
You should look up chickensong full version. That is as well so much fun. ❤️
chicken song is hilarious 🏴❤️
@@gilliandrysdale5306 Yes indeed. Special with Tony.
Yes!!! Chicken song!!!!!!
Make sure you get the one from Minnesota though. The earlier one is minus a verse and IMHO it's the funniest verse of all. LOL

My daughter took me to see VP when they were up here a few years ago and they did this one. It not only quickly became a fav, but it's awesome! ^_^
I enjoyed this. You should check out their one-minute musicals. They have one about the light bulb and one about Miley Cyrus. Hilarious.

They Re-did this Road Trip skit with J-None more recently too.
Check out their Chicken Song and Elvira. Their live shows are funny
This Road Trip is actually much older than the Sing Off tour. I’ve seen videos of them singing it as 4:2:5.
You gotta check out the chicken song, very funny
So funny. The way the songs perfectly fit their actions. I'm wondering if Pentatonix had just released "Royals" at this time?
Check out the chicken dance. Also live.
They also did a fun beat-boxoff for The Singoff Tour.
This is soooo funny! Thank you, Dennis. You'll need to let the rest of the fam see this!
Imagine coming up with that sketch. I’m guessing they had a ball.
This is gonna be good looking forward to it Dennis
Dennis you should react to vp im dreaming of a white Christmas. Love this one.
I've seen a version with J-None. Just as good
Redoing this is a great idea. Even if they do it now with a guest.
