  • It's July! The middle of the summer season, and down here in Florida we've had record highs in terms of heat. Here's a little summer arrangement of a really underrated Kirby track, originally called "Theatre Selection" from Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards. But wait! That song itself is actually an extended version of another track, "Friends 2" from Kirby's Dream Land 3! A little confusing. If you're a fan of the series, you might hear some other elements mixed in!

      Thanks so much - yeah I am excited to keep showing the DAW view, which might give away some of my secrets, but I hope it can inspire people to visualize the music and maybe create something like it!

    honestly though I love this music but how is it that this remake of the song is infinitely better in length to put on a playlist than the original song lmfao (literally all of this song that I found on youtube was like 30 minutes long)

      Thanks so much! When making it, the song felt so familiar, and then I realized it's really similar to "Walking in the Sea" from Return to Dream Land! Just a fun connection there you may have noticed.

      @@TaterTotTunes float islands uses the chord progression too! it goes all the way back to the series' roots. it's ishikawa's beach theme chord progression, that's what i'll always associate it with haha

    MY MAN. This is incredible! Sounds like something out of mid 2010s Nintendo and I love it. It's so peppy and chill. Makes me wanna spend eShop credit!
    Would love to hear you do more covers in this style. Your chiptune work was fantastic as always, but the piano blew me away. Seeing how many more techniques you've learned is just so cool.
    Pushmo has a very similar vibe to this, too (though that leans more into orchestral). If you haven't checked out the soundtrack, definitely do!

    • @TaterTotTunes
      @TaterTotTunes  Год назад +1

      I love Pushmo's music so much! Shoh Murakami (who made the music) is a super underrated composer in my opinion, who made a lot of Intelligent Systems' best recent music. The Poppy Map music from Stretchmo, Spring Radiance from Fire Emblem, Port Prisma - I've tried dissecting his music to understand what he does that creates such joyful and positive music (with a little bit of melancholic/nostalgic feelings). I think I've learned a lot from his work so far.

    • @DaBraxMan
      @DaBraxMan Год назад

      @@TaterTotTunes Definitely underrated!! I didn't know he had also composed Port Prisma! I hadn't noticed until recently how many trills (is that the term I'm looking for? Wobblin between two notes?) he uses in his music. His instrument choice also makes everything sound even more light and airy, like we're careening through a forest as leaves fall, whirling and jumping with childlike joy. I'm sure his music could be put to a ballet fairly easily.
      There are definitely elements of that here which is probably why I thought of his style -- aside from the obvious use of chiptune a la pushmo, the 12.5% lead trills near the start and the way the melody just kind of walks along is very Murakami-reminiscent. So so good!!
