    loving the ease of learning from your videos. Blues seem so calming to me I think it comes from being surrounded by a lot of soft blues as i grew up. Thanks for another great episode.

    Thanks. I learned things I didn’t know about warm/cool colours and how to use the colour wheel, which I’ve had for ages!

    I really love this series but sometimes it’s a little difficult to see the shades you mix because the light reflects off of the wet paint. I’m not sure if you could reposition the lights or clip the paper so it lays flat? Just a suggestion, I really do enjoy the color inspiration this series provides!

    so pretty :) .... I like such tone in tone motives, because this looks harmonicly, colorful and also interesting. sometimes I use only two colors and the hole range between can be endless incl the colorswitching and sometimes the mixing results surprise me if I get very useful shades ... very interessting pair of colors are cadm. red light and ultramarine, or lemon yellow and ivory black, or maygreen and magenta etc pp.

    Two blues would be pthalo blue and ultramarine. To darken a color use burnt umber. To mute a color use its contrasting color.

    Hey! On Day (?) ...uh, 2 weeks of watercolours! So ...I know ONE indigo I like (Schmincke's indigo). but this 'covid hobby' has me with the cotman stuff, and I'm TRYING to make that Schminke indigo with these. I enjoy your work &c but _the indigo you have looks black_ to me? I veered out on my own and the only way I've been able to come close to Schmincke indigo with cotmans is using their phthalo blue with lamp black (😥 - because I'm learning to use a *separate brush with the 'intense' phthalo blue* since it's like ink!) But the lamp black with phthalo blue is a really decent "indigo", only I think I'd need a separate brush or two just for any inky blue colors.
    Help? I like the other blues you mixed up (the warm ones) here. Do you maybe have another blues/cool video you can link me up to? I like the way you do it (without relying on brands and stuff: cotman should be good enough!)
    Btw, I love the diox violet, but mine seems to overpowers other colors unless I do 1:10 ratio of diox v to another shade. I'm finding I'd almost rather use a red/blue mix (or perm pink) to get a "friendlier" violet to mix with other colors. Still, the mixing is fun even if I spend a whole huge sheet learning that diox purple mixed with anything is going to get me ...diox purple hues 😂 I'm having fun; that's the point! Thank you! 🤗😇

    I love this series of colors, but I don't work with Cotman. So it would be easier when it's possible, you give not only the color names but also the pigment numbers from the colors you are using. example: ultramarine blue (PB28) so can I and (others) find the right colors easier back. tyvm

    thanks for doing this series, it's been helpful as I play with my tiny crayola watercolors. I noticed you sometimes don't clean your brush between dipping in colors, and so the color is transferred a bit (like on your yellow). I'd been worried about contaminating my colors, but it seems like it's not as big of a deal? what are your thoughts there?

    Em, I'm digging my new Etchr sketchbook, but am finding it difficult to paint on. I tend to do full page sizes, lots of water, but I'm curious; did you find there was a bit of a learning curve to this paper?

    • @EmmaLefebvre
      @EmmaLefebvre  4 года назад

      I didn’t, but I also tend not to use too much water on my pieces. Maybe play around with water control a bit?

    I need to know if the mixes of blues with orange and reds then make it a warm color?

    • @EmmaLefebvre
      @EmmaLefebvre  4 года назад

      Red, yes (because it would lean towards purple) but also make sure it’s the right red. Orange, no. Orange is its contrasting colour so it would mute the blue and turn it a bit brown or a dusty blue.
