Nothing like a father and son hanging out drinking a dram of whisky together. Great video guys.

I've got such a bottle in 2008 as a gift to my engineering masters degree celebration in Vienna, Austria... This has literally been the start of my "whisky career". I still own this bottle, but now, sad to say, it's almost empty... But on special occasions I take it from the shelf, and dive into it's gorgeous taste and memories of "the good old times".
Also, it is every time a pleasure to see you both in a (at least from the outside view) very harmonic father/son relationship...
I wish you both many happy years together, and thank you again for such wonderful insights!
    Best regards, Markus

Yes indeed ! Well said Ben. This is for the experts . When I first saw the review several months ago , I was able to find two bottles ! One for myself and one for my collection! On my Brother's birthday we opened the one for myself! This is serious stuff ! Top Top Notch ! We're enjoying it at this moment! We strongly recommend that if you find one... get two loll

Hi Sir,Thanks for all the Reviews. A small input. If Your son will sit straight and attentive like you are sitting will look better and more professional. Looks like so casual on his part the way he sits. Thanks

I’ve had 3 different bottles and the 1st one really blew me away but the other 2 not so much.

I see some negative comments and I’ve seen mixed reviews elsewhere. However, I very much like this whisky, and I think it’s becomes a bit more complex and deep after the bottle is opened over weeks or months. We have the 43% in the states. I’d love a cask bottling of this!

They have, and Horst hated it pretty much. He "doesn't like" rum, which for me personally, as a whisky, rum and tequila fan, is kinda hard to believe, because rum is AMAZING

Tawny and Ruby, not "Douro". All Port is from Douro.

Is there a hint of vanilla in it? I thought one of the ingredients was vanilla bean. In the 12 year one it was?

    • @the_gilded_age_phoenix8717

If it doesn't have vanilla in it, it's not alcohol.

    • @troyfraser5395

Landon Mattice they don’t actually use vanilla bean as an ingredient. Whiskies will get certain characters from the shape of the still but the rest come from the interaction with the barrel/cask it matures in. You will get that hint of vanilla from the oak/bourbon barrel.

I hate to say this, but 12 year double wood is still the best for the money.

No smoke in this whisky, typical Speyside fruity Balvenie character with a delicious Port flavour ;-)

One of the few bottles I've regretted buying. Even at the 43% we get in the USA and discounted price of $160. Never again

    • @andykerr581

How come you get it at 43% and we don't. This annoys me

    • @levonhovhannisyan1840
      @levonhovhannisyan1840 4 года назад +4

@@andykerr581 Because a lot of whiskies that are 40% in europe, should be exported to US in 43%. Also in US people get 750ml instead of 700ml. As you see, always US citizens are privileged.

  • @Houman7

Not the best Scotch you can get for 250$. 43% Abv, chill filtered, and colored. I bought it back then when it was 200$ but didn’t impress me at all.

@@davidrieger8816 that’s a fantastic choice, Glenmorangie signet is really good too.

    • @upy0ur5

I was told Macallan is also not as great as it was before. Just recently got a Glenmorangie Signet and was eyeballing a Balvanie 21 or Dalmore King Alex III. Ive only ever tried the Macallan Rare Cask, 18 Sherry Oak Cask, and Glenfarclas 25. Would you recommend the Glenmorangie Signet over all of those?
