    A Scotsman referring to a loch as a "lake" is sacrilegious and completely unforgivable.

    beautiful. you had the opposite of me across rannoch. i camped at the same spot 22:22, we were both blessed i think. i had -9 deg at night with thigh deep snow as far as the eye could see. total lung buster. the sky was as blue for me as it was for you. ill keep the memory of that walk forever. no drones for me back then (1999) so it was great to see the Airel's. thanks again.

      Thanks Jay! There are some really great packing lists if you have a quick Google so this is by no means exhaustive but I’d suggest you pack for both rain and sun as the Scottish weather is unpredictable. If you’re planning to camp prepare for a couple days here and there without shops but generally you pass by a village everyday if you keep going so don’t worry too much. We carried a tent, full sleeping set up (mat, sleeping bag, pillow) and all the kitchen essentials (gas,pot,etc.) and always remember compass, first aid kit, etc. All the best! :)

    • @FindingTrails
      @FindingTrails  2 года назад

      Thank you and thanks for watching!! There’s an abundance of places to set up - really you can’t go wrong. The only place which is restricted as far as we’re aware is a section of Loch Lomond which is why we camped in Sallochy campsite but you can actually find cheap permits to camp on the shore but they go quick so were sold out for our dates! Some days we ended up hiking a bit further than the usual village / town stop off just to find somewhere to pitch. The only day we struggled a little was day one where most people camp at Drymen camp ground but it’s busy so make sure you book or you’ll have to keep going for a few more miles till you get to trees / fields! Hope that helps.

    • @FindingTrails

      Hey thanks for watching!! So during March to September there are camping restrictions along the Loch Lomond shore. There are a few spots where you can get a permit for less than £10 within the management zone. Otherwise you’re best bet is camping at Sallochy campsite which we did! As soon as we left the management zone you’re okay to camp in the shore again :) a quick google search will show you a map of where the zone is

    • @FindingTrails
      @FindingTrails  Год назад

      Thanks for watching :)! We pushed on to the forest a mile or so after Drymen campsite. It’s after the A road so you can’t really miss it. What we would suggest is if you plan to stop at the campsite definitely book in advance because it can sell out as it’s harder to find wild camping spots close by and the day ends up being 21-22km if you keep going. All the best!!
