I wasn't expecting to see an accomplished young jazz drummer busting out some Deftones while dressed like old school Run-DMC today, yet...here we are. I'm pretty sure that my day has just been made.
It's amazing that you can switch between jazz and rock and even metal...as well as the fact that you are only 20. you inspired me into playing jazz on the drums. keep going man! a true legend!
Been following for a while. I'm so stoked that you're into Zeppelin and NIN and Deftones. You're a wildly talented musician and it is so incredibly entertaining to see you do these covers. Please keep it up!!
Greyson, I just want to say that, as a 56 year old music lover, you are restoring my faith in young musicians. So much new music sucks pretty badly and it is so nice to see someone your age just kicking tail. Keep jamming sir, the world needs folks like you. PS your caravan video is just jaw dropping. Just amazing.
Just a personal wish, but I'd absolutely LOVE if you gave Slipknot a chance. I've been completely blown away by you since Drumeo, and I can't stop myself from wondering how amazing it'd be.
One of my favorite Deftones song’s Awesome job it sounded amazing Abe Cunningham doesn’t get half the credit he deserves this is the first video I’ve seen of yours will definitely be obliterating the subscribe button sir respect 🫡🫡🫡
I find it fascinating that such an accomplished Jazz drummer would touch this. Not only because you wouldn't expect it to be in someone like Grayson's wheelhouse but because it's probably so simple that it hurts. Lol. I'd love to see some Meshuggah riffs, all jazzed up! ;)
@@thepluggy1 haha yeah the Bleed in the suit was definitely cool! But I was hoping he might delve a bit more. Bleed, while it has the most strenuous of the Meshuggah beats, doesn't hold a candle to some of their more complicated riffs, timing wise. Bleed is like the "go-to" I think because it's so easy to grab onto. It's 3 over 4 forever and even when it changes, Jens keeps the listener in check HARD by adhering only to his own 4 groove. They do so much better stuff! 😆
It's not as uncommon as you might think for jazz to cross over with metal and vice versa. While sounding totally different they're both a school of music that takes things to extremes.
@@natemoothart6967 that's exactly where John Bonham got his chops and his "pocket groove..." that's where most metalheads imho learn their first triplet and get hooked
my man you should do some scenes from kids on the slope, it an anime centered around jazz and the drum parts for the standards are really cool. the whole soundtrack was created by the same person who created tank for cowboy bebop.

Word .
With some traditional grip thrown in there for good measure.
My day is being made in the same way as yours, just 4 months later.
He's dressed like the singer of Deftones lol

the cymbals always sound so good.
Happened upon this kid's Drumeo videos, and now I'm a huge fan. This kid's going places. Amazing stuff.
Absolutely LOVE Deftones and when you play them!
i just love when you switch your left hand grip so smoothly.
Jazzman playing deftones, my life is complete. Cheers!
Should try the groove from Needles & Pins, super fun.
Match grip so cool Greyson.
I have never clicked so fast... hell yes son do more Deftones ❤🤘
Would love to see you play Prince, Digital Bath, or Graphic Nature.. the drums in those are pretty cool

hell yes man. nice vibe
Horns up 🤘
Fantastic 🥁
Love your versatility Grey! Some Gojira’s next time please!
Abe and Mario are my modern favs for their innovative grooves! 💥
Saw Gojira open for Deftones! And the original opener was a no show, so Gojira did an extra long set
@@gordon7700 how does a band get a chance to open for deftones and no show LMAO
Awesome
Dude you do the DefTones!! Ok I really wish you were my son! Hahahahah
Bros dripped out
I love you man 🔥🔥🔥
🤘🏽🤘🏽❤️👏🏽👏🏽
That snare 🤤
That Adidas jacket is a detail for to be a numetal reference to not understimate
Love how I can tell you have to suppress your instincts to go ham so you don't break the tempo.
Nice One!!
Nice work, Greyson.
Super 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍💥💥
The sound of your snare totally changed when you switched grips lol
Sick as F. As usual.
Interesting how different matched and trad sound on this song. Matched sounds much more appropriate

Abe Is painfully underrated
Oh man, i love your stuff so much. I would love to see/hear you on a tool track like pneuma.
Sweet
Can't go wrong with deftones for sure
esa eeeee

The man! Maybe some Gojira next?
Love it!!!! Question: how would you play this song differently, to add your own personal "flare" to it? Thanks for posting!
I'm definitely not the first one to ask, but have you thought about trying to play Tool's Pneuma? That would be so awesome
bros thrashing with a trad grip this is the sickest thing i've seen
Love me some Abe Cunningham
*expects jazz*
*sees him play my new fave band*
k wtf
Is your ride cymbal (from Drumeo) the Meinl Byzance Big Apple 20"?
This is pretty good, you should try playing some sepultura sometime

Simple, maybe, but Cunningham’s groove and feel are otherworldly. He knows just what to do to bring life to a song.
He does Bleed in a suit with very groovy socks too, pretty cool

Can you play fight fire with fire from metallica the proper way?
Cover Mein please!!!
Is he rushing or dragging?
He’s driving far away
I mean Abe had to be a jazz guy in a past life right? Haha
Love the song but wouldn’t digital bath be more of a song worthy of your caliber?
What song is this?
Be Quite and Drive (Far Away) by deftones
@@ChristianBjork thanks alot!
Did i miss something i thought he was a jazz drummer
Can you go back to the big band style it’s so good
