Not really. It’s well detailed, but it’s basically an Eduard 1.48 109E down-scaled. The best 109 Emil in any scale is the Wingsy Bf109E series in 1.48. Super accurate, and builds like a dream with a very logical parts breakdown. If you get one, you’ll immediately know what I’m talking about!.
I have built one of these, and have the Adlerangriff in my stash. Overall the kit is great, but there are some issues I had during the build. I didn't manage to align to engine straight, It's a bit fiddly how it attaches to the firewall. Unfortunately the engine has to used, as the exhausts and the propeller attach to it. The biggest problem is the canopy, it's too wide. It's important that you don't glue the cockpit to the both fuselage walls. I.E there should be a gap between the cockpit tub and one of the fuselage walls. If you pinch it close from the both sides -which one would naturally do- the canopy will be too wide. I'm not sure why don't everyeone get this gap issue, but it's common. And attaching the landing gear is fiddly and vague, Arma Hobby seems to be one of the few manufacturers that excel in this department (P-51B very precise attachment points). My horizontal stabilizers are also drooping, I have to be more careful the next time. This critique doesn't mean that it's not a great kit. but especially the canopy issue is a bummer. This kit was reportedly tooled by a third party, there was a rumour that it could be Clear Prop! The upcoming Azur / Special Hobby Fairey Battle is tooled in Ukraine, hopefully it will be of good quality also. And finally, Special Hobby's line of P-40s are also great, not as refined as the bf 109, but very nice to build.
Thanks for the heads up mate, I'm looking at replacing the cockpit with a resin job so we'll see how that goes! I think gear leg attachments are a common weak point on 109 kits, Tamiya did a great job as did Eduard on their S-199 kits so I have high hopes for the Eduard K-4 and 1:72 range.
@@thescalemodellingcafe I didn't know there was a resin cockpit for this kit, I used a quickboost seat for tamiya, it fits ok after removing some plastic. IIRC the yahu IP for tamiya caused some issues, I had to remove some of the brass. I forgot to mention that the tailwheel is very fragile and breaks off easily, I replaced it with a CMK hardened resin part, I don't know if it's available in UK (Hannant's maybe). That's promising that S-199 has good attachments, the bf 109 is tricky when it's angled both forward and outward. I hope you the best with your build.
@@thescalemodellingcafe best of luck with the resin cockpit, hopefully it fits. I agree, the strengthened tailwheel is a must. I hate it when manufacturers design it like this, it's a bit old school.
Surface details on this kit are AMAZING, cockpit look great, good to have engine (even if it need some work). But, as original Eduard in 1/48, it seems to be a little bit too big. Overall - very nice 109, but I hope it is not the last word in this matter.
Nice review Jamie, looks
Like a nice find, thanks for sharing
Thanks mate, I'm looking forward to getting started.

I hear great things about the Wingsy kits, and they've announced the E-7 Trop too so I'll maybe get one and compare.

I've got the Aires set for the Airfix kit and will adapt it. I've already got that CMK tailwheel for the project, I think that's essential!

Thanks Mezek, I'll have to get out the callipers!
Sorely tempted to buy one of these. I just seem to keep coming back to 1/72 especially with Arma Hobby kits being so detailed.
Nice review👍 Cheers🍺
You won't regret it if you do mate!
