What a lucky sheep, to have been rescued, sheared, and checked over by a vet. But mostly she was lucky to have been rescued by the bravest, best humored, kindest men on the planet. I think she was so calm on the way up the cliff because she knew she was is good hands. Well done, lads!!
Grass is always tastier on the parts that are harder to get to! ❤️💕 I loved seeing her eat the grass! That’s when I really thought she’s going to be ok! ❤️
She won't be though. She'll be a circus. The activists who spent time getting to know her were bared from the land under false pretences and while they were gone, the farmers swooped in and took the sheep away. The activists wanted to get her out safely and take her to a sanctuary where she would be safe and allowed to live her life away from the public eye.
@saa6673 the farmers had been in contact with the owner since the news first broke about her being there in a local news paper and had already arranged with him to rescue her. I think there was some misunderstanding on the owners part with him believing the activists were part of the team he had been talking to and once he realised he decided to allow the original team to rescue her as arranged. She won't be a circus, she'll be reintegrated with other sheep and put out in the pastures to live out her life and cared for. The farm is closed to the public for the next 5 months and by the time it reopens in the spring she will be out living her best life with her own small flock. The animals that are inside in pens are in large pens with deep beds, behind barriers and feed troughs to stop the public from being hands on, there are also signs all over the park asking the public NOT to try and pet the animals. The sanctuary that the activists wanted her to go to hold meet and greets for adults and children where they can pet on and hand feed the animals and have overnight stays on the grounds right next to the paddocks.
Why didn't "the activists who spent time getting to know to know her" ever do her the favor of a good shear to remove the massive weight and tangling hazard that was the biggest threat to her life, safety, and comfort? She now will be looked after properly with others of her own kind for company thanks to these guys, not anyone else who had two and a half years to rescue her and didn't get it done. Activists who cared about her would be happy that she is in a safer place doing well, and wouldn't be out there terrorizing the farmer and the animals on the farm.@@saa6673
Well, Cammy is a very experienced shearer, so it would be natural for him to do the job properly. He deliberately chose to use hand shears because it's easier to leave a slightly longer fleece with them, it is less likely to cut the sheep if she struggles a lot (and he couldn't be sure that she would stay calm) and they are much more quiet and less likely to alarm. She'll be kept indoors until she gets used to her surroundings, and fleece grows all the year round, so by the time she goes out into a paddock she'll have a little more covering.

I hope her remaining years are happy. I for one am glad she was rescued. I know so many people say to leave animals alone and I agree: but in her case she was not in a normal situation. Mammals are for the most part social beings.
Her case was normal to the extent that sheep do wander into odd places entirely of their own volition and sometimes they can't get back; in this instance getting her back really wasn't something which could be easily tackled. The video made it look relatively simple but both Cammy and Graeme have admitted that there were moments when they thought they had bitten off more than they could handle. There are also some breeds of sheep which don't flock together but spread out widely and generations of ewes will live in the same small area one after another. This is because they live in areas where feed is sparse and grazing as a flock is not viable. They are known as "hefted" sheep and will always return to the same area after being gathered (for example for shearing). They are mostly found (in the UK) in the Lake District, the Scottish Highlands and some islands, like Shetland. Should the farm be sold, the sheep are generally sold with it because they cannot be uprooted. Before anyone shouts, that's a very brief precis of hefted sheep, not a detailed analysis - this is not the place for one but there are books which explain the phenomenon in detail.
Fiona is beautiful. That she survived alone for all those years is amazing. All of the rescuers and Dalscone Farm, the Best family, deserves awards for the rescue. She is getting the best home ever and now has friends. 😊

Sheep really don't differentiate between people in that sort of way. They kept her calm by getting hold of her swiftly and firmly (no faffing about) and then enclosing her in a confined space. They knew to do this because they were all experienced handlers of livestock. Pretty much any animal will stop struggling when in a very small space.
I love this story! Fiona will be looked after, she looks so happy & if she hadn’t been shaved it could’ve turned out terribly. Central Victoria Australia 🇦🇺
Less likely to turn out terribly in Scotland, where we don't have levels of heat that you do in Australia. Eventually she would have started to rub her fleece off against the rocks as it became more uncomfortable. But it is certainly better that she's not down there any longer.
@@thecourtlyalchemist The east coast of Scotland north of Inverness doesn't get as warm as many other parts of the UK - and where she was living there would have been a near constant on-shore breeze to keep her cool. She was checked out after being rescued and sheared. Her body score was 4.5 out of 5: overweight! Her weight was 92 kgs. The average ewe varies in weight from 35 kgs- 60 kgs! Cammy who did Fiona's shear said he had 1200 sheep and only one is as big as Fiona
She was lonely, but she had fresh water, sweet grass, and ocean front property to walk about and a cave to protect her from the elements. No dogs barking orders. She was free, but she definitely needed a barber. Thanks for rescuing her.🎉🎉🎉

Animal activists protesting that this sheep was rescued?? Wow, I can't imagine why...I doubt they're going to turn her into stew meat. And giving wool doesn't hurt. They should keep her wool separate.. Wouldn't it be cool to have a sweater from her?!
Why would animal activist be upset? You did something good you rescued a sheep that would otherwise probably have perished, and she looks pretty healthy and happy.
No need to exploit innocent beings when we don't need wool anymore. I volunteer at a Sanctuary and the sheep are gently sheared over days so they are not stressed. The wool is put in the forest for the wild animals to use for their nests.❤
@@j.cassavoy4661 wool is a natural fiber that returns to the earth. It doesn’t require pesticides or hurt the animal to have it removed. Are you suggesting we should wear clothing made from plastics because it’s cruelty free?
So the sheep are handled many times instead of once and done....lots of serious stress there. As for putting the wool in the forest....not bright. Wool by its nature can become tangled hard around legs, necks, and toes. Ive had to free domeztic poultry hete more than once when they got into larger clumps of wool and bevamd entangled.

9 kg of wool shorn equals only 20 pounds in conversion? The animal looks like it's got about a hundred pounds of wool on it! Nice rescue guys!!!! Props!
An average UK fleece weighs between 1 and 3kgs though, so it was a lot more than that. But she's a young sheep, an older ewe would probably have had a heavier fleece.
No way. She is healthy, will be well cared for, and will, Id bet, be the 'farm pet' even long past reproductive age. A side benefit of being at a farm with public exposure, that.
What a ridiculous comment! She spent two years "perfectly happy" on her own? Just how do you know that she was "perfectly happy"? As a herd animal, I doubt very much that she was "perfectly happy" or in any way content. Just how happy would you be? And you're not even a herd animal! Yes, a social animal, and what does that mean? You should be more careful about what words you allow to leave your mouth. That has to be one of the most ridiculous things I have ever heard a "news person" say. Ridiculous. If she was so happy, why did she need to be rescued? Because shes is a HERD ANIMAL! And they are NOT HAPPY on their own! She would NEVER feel safe! How would you like to find yourself in such a position?

@@susanmont7578 it's the rest of her days bit I'm confused about. I'm glad she was rescued and I'm sure they are great farmers. But farmers who rear sheep are in a business they rear sheep for slaughter.

Wouldn't it be cool to have a sweater from her?!
The two young Scots have a lovely accent. What part of Scotland are they from?
Ewe were the one and only, but not anymore.
It would have been a lot better if the cameraman had managed to get the video in focus !
I think they deliberately blurred it to protect people.

No sheep is lonely in Wales .
This made me laugh. Thank you.
Why would animal activist be upset? You did something good you rescued a sheep that would otherwise probably have perished, and she looks pretty healthy and happy.
I’m curious : how did she end up there and how long did folks know she was even down there? Was she spotted from a passing boat?
Let’s hope this brings people to wool!
Yes you are right👍of course a publicity stunt making people feel good about exploiting animals for their wool.
@@RICDirector that just depends on the farmer. Sheep are usually cut once or twice a year. Most of them really enjoy getting a trim.
I’m sorry but I can’t help but look at this biblically. I can relate to her. I was once a lonely sheep. That lost sheep that God went out His way to save me!!!! Ugh this is such a powerful story! 🥺🤍💕🌸 oh God I am more than grateful for the help you are sending my way! She’s absolutely beautiful! In love with her
The funniest part of that story is tree-huggers being upset about it.
What do you mean...?
@@cantspellandy5833 there is a bunch of some eco guys who wanted to save the sheep but weren’t fast enough and are now upset that the sheep will end up on a farm instead of some sanctuary.
@@BBountyHunter you mean there's some empathetic and compassionate people trying to save the sheep's life, but the sheep ended up back into a life of persecution, for profit😞😔but where do tree huggers get involved..?
@@cantspellandy5833 life of persecution 🤣
It’s going to live on a farm, not do hunger games, ffs. 😂

Sounds like the guys saved the poor sheep... from animal rights people!
What would animal rights activists have to say that wasn’t, oh I don’t know, thank you? There’s always someone making a fuss.
If you was being exploited, abused or even being killed, I'm sure you would like somebody to make a fuss about it.
Ok, lets make a fuss about the ARAs exploiting tbeir 'rescues' yo get publicity and donations, hmm? Financizl and ideological exploitation is still exploitation.
One sheep named Ben find from forest after six years
Britain's Loneliest Sheep Fiona Has Been Rescued And Re-homed After Two Years | Good Morning Britain 2140PM 7.11.23 what a crazy story....a mellow ewe.
People are starved for happy news, that's what's going on. But, what animal rights people are upset about, I can't imagine.
Those silly activists need to find a good deed to do of their own instead of harassing people who actually do good. Bug off bothersome trouble makers. Good job guys.
God never left her❤
Surely she has a tag and an owner?
Your pictures are blurry fyi❤
One is the loneliest number that ever was lol
So sick of all these protesters
H/Farmers
Is it just me or does her cage look very small?
I hope she is NOT going to be slaughter?!
Of course not!!!!!
No way. She is healthy, will be well cared for, and will, Id bet, be the 'farm pet' even long past reproductive age. A side benefit of being at a farm with public exposure, that.
LIKE CASTAWAY😂 SHOULD HAVE CALLED HER WILSON
How would you like to find yourself in such a position?
agree, what a strange thing to say
a farm is not a fantastic home. animals are products there. and i would have wished she´d go into a sanctuary and not be farmed. :/
What is an animal rights activist..??
A smelly person who does more harm than good usually ...
I'm confused is the sheep in a sanctuary or a farm. Will she live out her life or be sent for slaughter.
She's at an amazing farm where she'll live out the rest of her days in loving bliss- they're exceptionally good and caring farmers who take impeccable care of their animals. She's one lucky lady...
@@susanmont7578 it's the rest of her days bit I'm confused about. I'm glad she was rescued and I'm sure they are great farmers. But farmers who rear sheep are in a business they rear sheep for slaughter.
Dalscone farm is a rare breed sanctuary - they have absolutely zero connection with the meat trade and keep their animals into old age until they pass from a natural death - no slaughter, no "petting".
@@4524-p1l They don't raise sheep. They provide a sanctuary for farm animals. Maybe look up the farm to see what they're about?
@@susanmont7578a sanctuary then.?
Im welsh and would like nothing more than for fiona to come and live with me!she's quite smart boyo.
🤣😂
@@harleythebrit6386 sense of humour alert!🤔😁
Youd think theyd give her to q sanctuary and not a farm... Maybe thats why the protests were there. Lol
