Can we just take a moment to appreciate the production quality of these videos. I mean, the editing, the B-roll, the music. I feel that it doesn't get enough appreciation. It's top notch!
@@seenthroughglass Would really appreciate a response on this. Sam, which would you say is the better of the two cars that you've previously driven- the Jaguar E-Type Reborn or the Ferrari 250 SWB Revival by GTO Engineering?
I did some garden work when I was 16 a couple of years ago for an old r guy who owned a series 1 roadster and a series 2 coupe. It was one of the scariest and most amazing experiences wizzing down a country road in the series 1, roof down in the middle of summer. There were blind spots for days, with no seatbelts, feeling like we were going to take off after every crest but going 60mph felt like 100mph. This is something that no other car brings. The looks, speed and raw excitement from something over 60 years old!
This is such a good summary! It's such a visceral sensation. So so much fun and something a lot of modern cars can't provide. Glad you had these experiences
@@seenthroughglass thank you for enlightening everyone! I know the weather was bad (England eh) but the experience is worth it any day. The E-Type is the only classic car I've been in and truthfully the fastest car I've ever been in so what a way to start my passion for cars! Love the content, you've done a smashing job through the many Lockdowns 👍
A E-type will get expensive because I don’t think there are many bad ones around. A less rare Jaggg or classic British sports car is a good idea though
Top Gear’s tribute to the E-Type years ago is probably one of my favorite Top Gear episodes , those cars really are one of the most beautiful cars ever made
What makes the e-type look so cool is that it fits in with the architecture, because it is the same period at from the same time frame it just fits so well and looks so cool ! It’s the same with the db5.
Who needs a radio with a car like that, My grandmother had a S1 roadster from new until about 1988, it was such a beautiful thing to experience, my dad & I would take it out on the highway to let it sing as gran got older, thanks for the memories, Rj in Oz
I've driven both an S1 4.2 and a semi-lightweight. The E-type is the pleasure of driving distilled to its essence. The front may be far away, but you get all the information you need through that excellent steering wheel. And, since you sit on the rear axle, the sensation of oversteer is *immediate.* Combine that with the inline 6's instantaneous and abundant torque, and you have one of the most charming driving experiences ever created.
You are so right about the front. There is still more than three feet of car ahead of what you can see of the tapered hood. Pulling out of a narrow alley you have to put 2/3 of the car out in traffic before you can see oncoming.
The production quality is unparalleled. Seriously even the other “bigger” RUclipsrs with whole teams of people still feel like it’s a RUclips video, this is on another level. As always sam, great work
Great car, looks amazing. Enzo knew what his was talking about when he said it was the most beautiful car in the world. Great intro music in period style, great video and nice to see you dressed for the occasion. The car deserves it😉.
Indeed, sitting behind the wheel of a "good" XKE is one of the best driving experiences of all time. I had '68 (series 1 1/2) for 20 years. Never gave me a lick of trouble and made me grin from ear to ear every time I took her out and let her growl down the road. Congratulations! Now, see if you can find the opportunity to light up a Duesenberg SJ. That's another classic drive you'll never forget!
My dad had a ‘71 e-type v12 auto. Ran hot and he was on a first name basis with his mechanic. I got to drive it twice. Was small, but powerful and sweet. I loved it.
£300,000 or not that is one of the coolest cars ever, and your time with it may have been short but the video perfectly captured what the car is about. Style, Driving sensation and that something that modern cars can never recreate.
I volunteered at a race track for about a decade starting in 2001. I loved being out there for the vintage weekends. It was a treat to see these cars out on the track being driven ar speed. The sound was amazing.
Drove in one at 6 years old back in the mid 60's. Still remember it. One of my earliest life memories. Yea, this is a special car to make that kind of an impression.
The ultimate car to have, fits in everywhere you go. I was fortunate to drive one during its 40th anniversary celebrations. I have been in love with it since. One day soon... I will own one.
I love the E-Type especially in that colour my old next door neighbour used to have one in that very colour! The only thing i would change is to widen the track especially at the front! I've always thought the track just looked too narrow!
Got the chance to drive an E-Type a few months ago. I got waves from passerbys and all. Beautiful car, great in the countryside. Everything said here is spot on.
Great car/vid. I've had my S1 4.2 for 22 years now. It's been over the Alps four times. A wonderful thing, hence it will never be sold. Nothing is better than a properly sorted S1 E-type.
Happy 60th Birthday E Type. I join it this April. What a cool car that I have always adored. I saw one V12 as a small boy in the midlands. I have seen the odd one down under. And I smile. Cheers Sam.
STG video with E-type, I click. Then I see the Dorchester where I worked and Stanhope Gate and then on Deanery Street at 00:46 with the garage doors behind you where I pulled Michael Jackson out of the Dorch in a disguised Harrod's bread van! Ahhh, the old days!!!!!! Cheers from the middle of Canada!
@@seenthroughglass Dozens from those days. Brought Hakkinen into the underground Brunei car park next door because the MacLaren F1 he was driving (K8 MCL) wouldn't fit in the Dorchester garage (too steep a curb) and met Schumi & Irvine the same night at the '99 F1 party there. Then I nearly got fired as my boss wanted to know why "some twat" had parked a green Porsche in his favorite spot.
Love your enthusiasm.. those empty London streets are incredible to see. I got close to buying a 2+2 a few weeks back but got beaten to it. Now I've got to keep looking..always enjoy your content.

Another great production. What a surreal experience that must have been and what a memory to look back on.......driving around the empty streets of London in a factory e-type. It’s what dreams are made of. Keep on doing what you’re doing - great content !
One of the best videos you’ve done Sam. The editing, music, camera work. You really are making massive strides in your craft! I can’t wait for the future.
My 90 year old neighbour was one of the test drivers for Jag here in Coventry and he recalled to me driving one down a hill and the brakes failing and him ending up in a field. No seat belt either.... The new hand madeE Types are also made in Ryton Coventry on the site of the old Peugeot car plant.
I was once a member of a car club and had an old V12 E-type for the weekend As I was driving in traffic to pick up Mrs AC a guy in an Aston Martin told me it was the best looking car he’d ever seen The weekend didn’t exactly end well though - the thing blew up in a cloud of smoke on the motorway and we did the last 75 miles on the back of a breakdown truck!
Fantastic video. You are so lucky to not only be hooning in an E-Type, but having a deserted central London to do it in, and in the middle of the day. That is the dream. As for the stereo, you need to put some Kinks on, then you can enjoy some appropriate music
I absolutely adore E-Types and have done since I saw one at the Birmingham factory when my dad worked there in the 90s. Never been in one but I’m determined to get a drive in the near future! 💪🏼😎👍🏼
To fully appreciate it you need to get it on the open road. And E-Types are reliable cars. Bought a 1966 roadster in 1973 for $3,400 and sold it three years later for $1800.

Absolutely agree. Great production always. You can tell a lot of thought goes into each video. The DTW ones were first class.
no traffic in london just looks like it was cleared for you to shoot a movie... and you should! You rock that E type and not even tony can complain!
Must have been very early in the morning, but still eerily Empty for Mayfair and the City.. very 28 days later lol
That's the first thing I noticed too... crazy looking with no traffic.
The empty street at the beginning with the car parked reminded me of the 1960’s tv series The Prisoner
