Greetings Sir Hairless, I've enjoyed some of your videos recently. But today I accidentally stumbled on another channel based in Slovenia, which is using some of them without permission, as well as videos from other musicians' reactions. The channel name is Muffin - and this is one of your videos that I found on the site: ruclips.net/video/KDPb7SZ7lDQ/видео.html Thought you may want to investigate. Wishing you the best in your future endeavours! 🙂
Hey don't shy away from making 30+ minute analyses if you're up for it, with songs that deserve it. I'm here for it 😊😊 Brilliant song, brilliant arrangement, brilliant anslysis, thank you Sir! (Although I didn't find the film as a whole particularly brilliant, I have to admit. But this song certainly is.)
Speaking of The Beach Boys. Voice Play did "In My Room" about a year ago. Tim Foust also had a version on his doo wop album. The video is about two years old. It's very Lockdown-esque.
Disney liked VP's version so much, they asked them to perform this live at a corporate event. Video is on YT. Cesar was also performing there with another group. When one of their female singers became ill, Cesar recommended Ashley since she was going to be there anyway. She learned the part on very short notice. For this video, the rental place delivered Ashley's costume in two sizes. Though this is Layne's arrangement, it was Geoff's idea for Bruno to shapeshift into the female character's costume. Ashley has a clip on her IG of her and Geoff dancing side by side in matching blouse and pink shorts.
Wonderful informative, educational and fun reaction/analysis. The first woman to sing with them on their channel was Rachel Potter in "I Knew You Were Trouble" but I would love to see your analysis of their "Wicked Medley" Rachel and Emoni Wilkins (from The Sing Off and accompanied them on The Sing Off Tour) appear together with them.
I really enjoy the reactions of those without the technical knowledge. But having been a music professor and voice teacher, I REALLY geek out over this type of reaction. VoicePlay does things with a cappella music I haven't heard done quite like this, and glad to see someone who can catch it (Fairy Voice Mother is another channel that is good with the technical side). Their chord construction and use of augmented, diminished, and dominant intervals (sometimes with riffing in relative modes) thrown in has blown my mind since I discovered them.
I love Fairy Voice Mother too! She's another one of my go-to channels for musical analysis. Sir Hairless is the most recent to be added to that short list. He's fantastic and his ear for detail amazes me.
This is such a great song! Lin Manuel Miranda hits a homerun yet again! Honestly, he's so talented, and Voiceplay honestly does my favorite version of it. I understand that Disney liked it so much they asked Voiceplay and Ashley to perform it at a major event! Ashely is awesome, she also does "If I Were A Rich Man/Girl" with Voiceplay.
...and "Running up that hill"! She's pretty great, but then I've never seen VP collaborate with someone who wasn't great, and fit the group well. Rachel Potter is my fav in this category ❤
@@olabergvall3154 Oh, yes, love that one! It makes me think of Stranger Things! (Only one more season, bummer!) And at this point I pretty much consider Rachel Potter an honorary member of Voiceplay. She's awesome.
@@thisismetoday7423 Yes, they did a great job of it! They even kept the most important elements! I was a little bummed they left out Magenta's part, but at least they kept the Criminologist in! I used to play Columbia in college.
I haven’t seen this performance by Voiceplay before and… WOW… I can’t choose what I loved more in this video: (1) getting to know their amazing performance/arrangement of the original song, (2) learning lots of cool things from your wonderful analysis or (3) watching your contagious smile/shinning eyes/happy dancing during your reaction :) This was truly magnifique, thank you Sir!!
I think that whenever VoicePlay collaborates with female singers, they hit it out of the park. They know how to take that vocal area that is missing in their main group and use it to the best advantage. Their other collabs with Ashley (If I Were a Rich Man, Running Up That Hill) or any of their collabs with Rachel Potter (several Disney collabs as well as their Wicked and Greatest Showman medleys) are can't miss.
I love watching your VoicePlay reactions….smiles, puzzlement, disbelief, laughter, joy. Would love to see you react to their Wicked Medley, If I Were a Rich Man/Girl, In My Room, Creep, and whatever else catches your fancy. Not to mention any of Geoff’s solo work. I appreciate your detailed analyses.
Thank you for a great analysis, enjoyed the reaction too. Layne noticed that everyone, every age was singing this and just had to do it. He did such a fantastic job!
I sat here grinning like an idiot when you started the second half, especially since you played that part as one of your favorites. There are a couple different stories about how Geoff and Ashley split the part. One that it was his idea, the other that she talked him into it. I don’t care, it makes me happy seeing it, and even happier watching reactors hit it.
👣🙉👣🙉👣 .. what a great surprise today from Sir Hairless .. fair to say the classical musician has been enchanted by Voiceplay. 🎼💙🎼 .. this arrangement is wonderful. They all play around with their vocals with such ease. I like the addition of a female singer. .... well Sir Hairless .... I can't join you on "the feels" of losing your hair .. no idea what that is like .. lol lol I am an older man with hair longer than Geoff's. But hey .. it looks good on you. This song is very fun and the rhythm is exciting. Excellent reaction and breakdown !! Voiceplay are total studs .. love it 🎸☠️🎸☠️🎸☠️🎸☠️
How great that the arrangement is as much a star in this performance as all these talented singers. It’s fun, complex, smart, creative and performed brilliantly. Your analysis is so helpful to our appreciation. Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it so. 🤗
I love that VoicePlay's arrangements are intricate enough to excite knowledgeable people and interesting and fun enough to engage us who delight in great music. I'm learning much through these reactions.
I really love your analyses ... they just open up a whole new world for me: the intricacies of music / voice arrangements. You pinpoint everything that make me intuitively respond to VoicePlay as masters of their genre! Thank you!
Yes!!! I loved seeing the big smile on your face this time along with the wonder in your eyes! Fun facts, they used a fan to blow the petals into their faces but it wasn’t working well enough so they brought in a leaf blower Geoff breifly turning into a Disney princess wasn’t something anyone expected but was hilarious. The scream was actually the famous “goat scream” which Layne thought would be funnier than Geoff’s real scream. The entire ending is one of my favorite parts that didn’t exist at all in the original. It needed that epic ending because it was cut off too short in the original I thought. Oh, and I think Geoff was Camilo and shape shifted into Bruno and Isabella. Thank you for your reaction!!
I am so glad you did this . They did In My Room by the Beach Boys. Hint hint 😃 Also, their Wicked medley ant theis Greatest Showman medley are incredible.
As a Geoff/VoicePlay junkie, I am now geeking out with your reactions....geez...🤯you are brilliant, Sir Hairless. You did the impossible...made listening to VP EVEN BETTER...❤❤❤
Oh my you have discovered Lin Manuel Miranda courtesy of Voiceplay! Amazing artist and composer. Besides his Disney projects he has done 2 Broadway/West End musicals "In the Heights" and "Hamilton". Olivier Awards awards 7 In the Heights and 13 nominations for Hamilton also winning 7.
I think you'd love Voiceplay's Wicked Medley. Geoff arranged it and he worked on it for a long time. It's the same lineup as this video, but with two different female collaborators: Rachel Potter (who has probably done the most collaborations with Voiceplay) and Emoni Wilkins. It's a fabulous show, very reminiscent of this, in some ways. Thanks for the great reactions and the excellent technical analysis. - Subscribed.
Great reaction Sir Hairless! This is such a fun one, isn't it? I love Encanto - I think the songs are all fantastic and also very different from each other. I think that's because the whole score was written by Lin-Manuel Miranda, who is an incredible songwriter. I love the Family Madrigal, Surface Pressure and Dos Oruguitas too. Lin-Manuel Miranda scrored Moana too - and that has some brilliant songs as well, and Hamilton and In the Heights of course too. I gather that we don't talk about Bruno has now surpassed 'let it go' as Disney's most popular song ever! Voiceplay does such a fab job of this cover. I love the humour in this, Geoff as Isabela 🤣😂. The effects and beatboxing as well - it's a brilliant arrangement. I think Voiceplay really excel in these funny, clever arrangements. I love their RUclips shorts - so good!
DIdn't know that about the composer - very cool! Yes I love this, seen some new things from VoicePlay hereI'm still a massive VP newbie so very excited for what's to come!
What a great analysis and reaction, Sir! There is definitely loads of stuff going on in this cover! Ashley was a great choice for this video! Her voice and range is sic! I love the movie, and I do agree that this is the best song from the movie. Voice Play always gives their all and then some in these types of videos. Crazy stuff going on with all of the different voices/characters being portrayed by the group. It has to be viewed numerous times consecutively in order to grasp all of the parts. It’s definitely one of their best videos!
Absolutely love your analyses of Voiceplay's work. When they performed this for Disney, it was difficult. They had to redo the arrangement to eliminate the multi-layering and spent hours rehearsing together. Normally everything is recorded individually. Singing live was quite a change after Covid shut the world down. They used to tour extensively, videos were a way of attracting new audience. They let their Patrons watch the live rehearsal. It was a hoot! I hope you will get to Geoff's solo work..... hint, hint.
Sir Hairless! Am enjoying your analysis videos greatly. Hoping you have Voiceplay's Little Mermaid medley on your list, and Hoist the Colours. Also as others have mentioned if you like the Beachboys ... In My Room is a must!
Thoroughly enjoyed your analysis. When I first heard this by VP and got all the way to the end, thinking how come I don't know this song. It's so good. Ashley ordered her outfit and was sent 2 sizes so one would be sure to fit. She talked Geoff into the few seconds in the blouse and shorts. Try VoicePlay's version of In My Room (Beach Boys) from a little over a year ago.
Thanks for your reaction. Layne did the arrangement for In the Hall of the Mountain King too. I think you would appreciate the vocals, arrangement and video.
It's a real pleasure to listen to your reactions. Thank you! You mentioned in this video that you like Beach Boys, well VoicePlay has done a very laid back version of "In my room".
I love how campy and fun they are. My very favorite and unexpected part is when Geoff, screamed like a girl at seeing the rat. TOO CUTE! The other thing that I laughed too hard at was you relating to the bald guy on the movie version and Eli's part here. LOL Sorry. Fully enjoying how much fun you had listening/experiencing this entertaining song. Thanks for your smiles and humor. (your depth of knowledge of music theory and music in general is astounding!)
Love this version of the song from VoicePlay - definitely one of my favorites! Considering the size of the original cast who were used in this song, VP did an amazing job with their limited numbers, even if they did multi-track a little bit (which they are probably more prone to do than the either Home Free or Pentatonix). While there are several comedic parts spread out in the song (Eli's "now look at my head" as Ashley strokes his head consolingly), Geoff has the big comedic parts in this one for me - finishing Isabela's solo, except down a ways (2 octaves?) while dressed the same as Ashley, and the scream from the "rats along his back" - which is actually a goat scream Layne picked out from a sound effects library (Geoff did the scream in real life and apparently did a good job, but Layne liked the goat scream better). One very minor correction - Geoff is actually portraying Camilo (the shapechanger) rather than Bruno when he does that deep "fades to black" - Camilo is shifting to Bruno during that segment of the song.
Had to laugh so hard when you said "I don't need to pause for copyright reasons... but I will for my own mental well being" 😂👍🏻 The struggle is real 🙈 There is always so much to process, my brain sometimes feels like before going into overload too 😅 Great analysis as always 👍🏻👏🏻
Hahaha great analysis Sir!! 👏 You clearly enjoyed this piece and the arrangement and so did we!! You almost broke into a dance then 💃💃💃🕺🕺 🕺 Fabulous!! 😅🫶👏
Thank you Sir. Great Reaction and I am glad you are going down this rabbit hole. Ashley Diane has done several music videos with Voiceplay. Check out there "If I were a Rich Man/Girl" from Fiddler on the Roof.
Another brilliant reaction and analysis by Sir Hairless!! #Voiceplay really honored the original with this one. Really glad you watched the movie first. Makes a huge difference and appreciation of the theatrics that Voiceplay incorporates. The vocals are always exceptional along with the arrangements. Just really great!!
I recall how you reacted to Peter Hollens and Home Free collaborating on "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For". So I also think you would love Voiceplay's "Just Sing". Hint: Turn ON the captions for this one - so much information there.
You are right, I should watch the movie first to get to know this song 😔, and blimey that I got distraction with your big smile too, impressed with your beautiful teeth 😂🤭(sorry I’m out of the topic🙏🏻) But, as soon as I continued watching, I must say that they’re singing great and harmoniously. Awesome! 👏🏻
I always love it when Voiceplay puts on a mini-musical. Great analysis/reaction! I’ll have to check to see whether you’ve found In My Room (Beach Boys cover).
Thank you for this reaction. I love VP’s humor, inventiveness, and personal interactions. Geoff temporarily wearing same frilly blouse as Ashley? That’s funny. Anytime Layne sings is wonderful.
Yes, I agree! These are 2 that I mentioned to him as some of their best work but are medleys so the length of them are concerning for an analysis. I’m hoping to talk him into it soon 😅❤
I so love your reactions! If you're looking for yet another a capella rabbit hole to jump down, please check out Voctave. Here's their Disney princess medley: ruclips.net/video/aBCukAJwKN0/видео.htmlsi=V9qI9PoFgqLEcpYP
When I saw the colors I got super excited because I thought he was reacting to voiceplays wicked medley. I love this one too, so not sad, but I hope he reacts to the wicked medley.
Loving your break down and analysis of Voiceplay. Its great to watch reactors that cant point things out that i didnt notice before😊🥰. Would love to see your reaction to their cover of Hellfire from Disney's Hunchback of Notre Dame. Layne had a hard time convincing Geoff to do it cause Geoff feels the character is one of the most evil villains of the Disney movies.
As a classical musician, I think you'll appreciate Voiceplay's rendition of "In The Hall Of The Mountain King" from Greig's _Peer Gynt_ suite. Recommended in the strongest possible terms!
Geoff was actually playing Camillo the shapeshifter, that's why he sang the "seven-foot frame" verse looking like Bruno and later stole a line from Isabella (I like how pissed they all were at him for that). That was Ashley's idea, she had a spare size L blouse and decided to make Geoff wear it. Her verse had to be lip-synced in double speed since rose petals are really heavy and don't float as well as you'd expect, so they basically filmed under a leaf blower. Geoff's shriek was really solid, he did it in the live performance as well, but they decided to replace it with a stock screaming goat sound effect for teh lulz. There is a surprising lot of easter eggs in this song, like listen to the BV parts after Cesar says "umbrella", that's just dirty xD
You're a Beach Boys fan? That gets you a sub. 👍 Always loved their vocal harmonies and how it helps fill in their distinctive sound. Even got to see them once, back in the '90s - at Narrabeen Beach in Sydney. Sand, sun and songs - what a party that was!
Wow, sounds amazing! They were performing a few years ago round the corner from me on my birthday...but I was away so couldn't go. Probably won't get another chance 😢
Loved that you got to enjoy some of VoicePlay's humor 😀 I love this arrangement. I have it set as my alarm clock to wake up to. Glad you to see you enjoyed it as well. I echo that you would likely enjoy If I Were a Rich Man/Girl which features Ashley too!
Once again another great analysis!! Really enjoyed your breakdown for the chords they chose. Love seeing you bobbing alone!! By the way, you sir also have wonderful falsetto/head voice!!
Ashley is a friend of Cesar, also from Puerto Rico, and has appeared a number of timmes with VP. I saw the film after watching this, and found it rather empty, comparatively. But that often happens. VP arrangements are so full and complex. Geoff does turn into the shape shifting character and what a fabulous Disney princess he makes. :) Comsidering how good he lookes as Ghost Rider. He's so versatile. And yes Cesar can get high; he does the famous high note in Dream On, and does some whistle notes in The Lion Sleeps Tonight.
I just realized the little clip where Mirabel catches the beat and tries to start dancing but then gets blown away… and that was pretty much you watching this cover
Geoff was originally the beatboxer, before he persuaded Layne to try it. The rest, as they say, is history - but it means that if necessary Geoff can step in to beatbox when Layne is singing.
Rewatching this reaction (actually several of them). You mentioned that the Beach Boys is your favorite band. Voiceplay did a version of In My Room. Just so ya know!
Voiceplay & Pentatonix are my 2 favorite acapella groups. I don't know anything about music technicality but your breakdowns are so intricate which makes me appreciate more how music is constructed. Please check out Voiceplay's version of "If I Were A Rich Man" (ft. Ashley as well). Love your videos! ❤🥰
I'm a computer geek who's never taken a single class in music theory. However, I absolutely love hearing all the technical details that explain why I enjoy Voiceplay so much. Thanks for expanding my awareness.
I am very much so enjoying your reaction to and musical analysis of Voiceplay's work. I only discovered them last year, but their work completely blows me away every time. As I have seen some other suggest, their version of If I Were A Rich Man / Girl also features Ashley Diane and is incredible. I would also love to hear you react to Geoff's solo work. All of it is amazing, but his covers of The Sound of Silence and I See Fire are my top two to recommend.
Another great reaction! BTW Faouzia released a new song Fur Elise live. It's musically, lyrically, and vocally genuis. Would love to see your analysis.
Great reaction, as always! 👍 It got me thinking - The Bass Gang released their version of the song few months ago. It's from their Disney series, overal very good and lot of fun.
How FUN! I love Disney music! Well, who doesn’t love Disney songs. I like this ! Pretty great rendition. I like VoicePlay very much. I need to watch the movie! I’ll put that on list of the many movies I want to watch🍿🎥🎬 - one of my other passions. ❤R/A🎼

Thank you!
You mentioned in this video that you like Beach Boys,
well VoicePlay has done a very laid back version of "In my room".
Haha glad you enjoyed It was definitely a fun one!
Had to laugh so hard when you said "I don't need to pause for copyright reasons... but I will for my own mental well being" 😂👍🏻
The struggle is real 🙈 There is always so much to process, my brain sometimes feels like before going into overload too 😅
Great analysis as always 👍🏻👏🏻
I love Voiceplay's collab with Ashley Diana. Make sure you check them out in If I was a rich man. Their rendition is amazing
Loved seeing VP back on the channel!
Hahaha great analysis Sir!! 👏 You clearly enjoyed this piece and the arrangement and so did we!! You almost broke into a dance then 💃💃💃🕺🕺 🕺 Fabulous!! 😅🫶👏
🕺
You should hear their rendition of Fiddler on The Roof's If I Was A Rich Man! Ashley really showcases her vocal skills in that one.
Thank you Sir. Great Reaction and I am glad you are going down this rabbit hole. Ashley Diane has done several music videos with Voiceplay. Check out there "If I were a Rich Man/Girl" from Fiddler on the Roof.
I love this cover by Voiceplay!
Tim Foust did the Beach Boys "In My Room." Also, VP and Ashley Diane did "If I Were a Rich Man/ Girl." I really love both.
Sir, a little gem of a break down.
Awesome! 👏🏻
This was MY introduction to Voiceplay, so glad to see you watching it.
I always love it when Voiceplay puts on a mini-musical. Great analysis/reaction!
I’ll have to check to see whether you’ve found In My Room (Beach Boys cover).
Voiceplay has a new video coming out tomorrow, Friday the 19th..... Black Hole Sun. It's really beautiful.
Wonderful as always, Sir Hairless!
Thank you for this reaction. I love VP’s humor, inventiveness, and personal interactions. Geoff temporarily wearing same frilly blouse as Ashley? That’s funny. Anytime Layne sings is wonderful.
Loved the reaction. You should do their Wicked Medley or their Little Mermaid Medley. Both are some of their best works!
One day I will, it's on my list 👀
It's on my list for the future!
I so enjoy your reactions. 😊
Their Moana Medley is terrific too!
If you liked Ashley, you should check out Voiceplay’s If I Were A Rich Man/Girl
The Bass Gang did an amazing acapella cover of We Don't Talk about Bruno with cameos by Lauren Paley, BigBrev and Tim Foust.
Bravo, another Voiceplay analisys, I'm sure it will be good, for sure
I can’t wait for you to do their Little Mermaid. ❤
Thank you for another wonderful analysis.
Voiceplay are so good! If u think this is good, you should check out their Wicked medley, it’s amazing! I would love to see that breakdown
I won Geoff's purple shirt and wrap at the auction! It's cool!
Amazing!
They did a great job with this song the ending is awesome. Loved your reaction as always. ❤ thank you 😊
How FUN!
I love Disney music!
Well, who doesn’t love Disney songs.
I like this ! Pretty great rendition. I like VoicePlay very much.
I need to watch the movie! I’ll put that on list of the many movies I want to watch🍿🎥🎬 - one of my other passions.
❤R/A🎼
I have a film list too, some of the items have been on there for 5+ years
@@SirHairless Did you go see the second Dune film or even the first one yet? I’m sure you haven’t. You are very busy with your channel and life outside of it. Work etc.. Takes up all your time. Don’t burn out on us SH!
@@betsyvondracek4009 Not yet, not even the first! My film for this month was Encanto - I don't seem to have time to watch more than one film a month currently But I will get to both Dunes (probably in the same day), hopefully fairly soon
@@SirHairless Some down time - would be wise!
Just making sure that you get a break once in a while. !
I subscribed today because you are my favorite with analysis of voiceplay who I absolutely love❤
you're my favorite reactor
❤️
great analysis as always! thank u!
Enjoyed your reaction...keep them coming please.
Thank you sir. But, don't forget, you promised to react Voctave.
You must do In the hall of the Mountain King.
Seconded. The woman that joins them on that one is just amazing.
Love this cover! I kinda think it’s better than the original. Ashley has done several songs with them. They’re all my favorite. Lol.
VoicePlay has done a Beach Boys cover, In my Room
So Much Fun 🎉. I love love love watching your reactions to a lot of my favorite songs.
I love Encanto and I love this playful Version from Voiceplay - just good vibrations
I read through 120 other comments to see if anyone else recommended the Bass Gang's cover of this song. Three did mention them. They are 4 bass singers from 3 different continents who produce fantastic covers. One is an opera singer with a reaction/ analysis channel on you tube as well. Hope that entices you to check them out. I also love your deep dive analyses of the music. Thanks so much.
О! Боже! Это было круто, круто, круто!👍👍👍 Спасибо! ❤
I personally prefer Voiceplay’s version ❤
Great reaction as always! I need Sir Hairless to react to "Somewhere" by Voctave!!
Love the detailed musical analysis. I feel I've learned a bit from this.
That’s amazing and I had fun! 👏🏽👏🏽Wonderful voices! And the analysis as amazing as the song. 💙
