I did all of this and it has worked (thank you). What I am glad you said as part of the commentary was that your graphics card may be on the way out. I have looked at a lot of websites to try and find a solution to this and for the majority of them they don't even mention the possibility that you may have a duff GPU - most give the impression that if you 'update the drivers' and tinker with the power settings that this will solve the problem (it never did). It would be more honest of them to say there is a chance that the GPU has reached the end of its life and you need to get a new one and no amount of tinkering will solve it. I do also need to add that for me the problem was specfic to one graphics card - a GTX970 - which I had bought off Ebay so no warranty return option there. If I swapped my old GTX580 back into the same PC (before your fix) and played the same game which had stopped with the GTX970 there was no issue. I never got a BSOD but I did get the same three error messages as you did in Event Viewer. Last point (honest) - I searched my C drive pre-fix for files called 'nvlddmkm' and found three of them - one from 2018, one from 2022 and one from 2023 - the one from 2023 is the same as the one which is there now post-fix. Following the DDU process I searched my C drive again and I now have only the one from 2023 - just a thought for those this did not work for to check their C drives to see if there is still more than one driver file there - you may need to run DDU again.

I saw weird stuff like this happening with a Dell Alienware R16 one year after the purchase date. It was not worth the hassle debugging/swapping out drivers, etc. Nvidia GPU's are very temperamental and require much tighter ventilation and power supply design than most consumer PC's can offer. Eventually, I got a Hewlett Packard Z series computer, which are used by engineering corporations concerned with reliability and up time.

TIP: Windows Microsoft store also will auto install an old version of Nvidia drivers after you have removed the drivers even if you tell Windows Update not to download any drivers and for me it was causing the issue. So to fix this problem I went into safe mode (hold shift while restarting) uninstall the drivers with DDU and then restart again in safe mode so Windows does not try to install these old Nvidia control panel drivers and Install your new drivers then restart into normal mode.

Thank you very much. You really helped me. I bought a laptop that had two graphics cards, Nvidia and Intel, and there was a problem with the Nvidia card not being read at all on Windows 10. I tried all the drivers, and the strange thing is that yesterday was the first time it worked, but after a minute of use, the blue screen happened ,it really scared out of me so much so that it did it three times, so i disabled the Nvidia card, and formatted the device.i though that problem of windows around the world happened for me too lol. However, I tried your method and concluded that DDU helped read the driver for the special card and make it work, and msiburner helped overcome the blue screen problem. This didnt really work for me, i followed all the steps even :(
To be fair im running a GTX1050 system on my Laptop and its almost a Decade old. 10 years of constant beating, running an endless cycle of Overclocking and Underclocking, it takes a huge toll on your system. Even right now im asking for too much by running PS2 Ported games AND running a second monitor (albeit the 2nd monitor is just a simple not too fancy display but still).
Moral of the story is take care of your devices people, im using mine now as a back up since my old one had a battery problem (Both are Asus), and is being repaired for over 2 weeks now and projected to be fix within 3-4 weeks. Build quality and Quality Control has gone to the shitter. Replace your devices every 5 years or so. When given an option between a PC or a Laptop, always choose the laptop one and never pick Asus, but also never pick any manufacturer because they seem to always break down. I randomly started losing video signal after a Windows update in mid-December 2023. I have tried everything, including most of what you've done except the MSI stuff, and this even happens in another machine(took it to Microcenter to have the card tested there). Is my card truly faulty or will doing the underclocking on MSI afterburner resolve the issue? Right now my core and memory clock are both at +0. Fan speed is at 39. I don't know anything about how this works but it's frustrating. I have a cooler master 500W PSU that came with my HP Omen 30L. I've only had this system about three years or so and am so pissed that already there's an issue with the card. I've done everything imaginable, including reinstalling windows, applying new thermal paste, DDU, etc. Nothing has worked. I can use the system some, but the minute I try to run a game with heavy graphics, I lose signal. Sometimes I can play a long while before this happens and other times it happens right away. I am already resigned that I have to buy a new card(it won't be an NVidia)but I want to be sure there's nothing more I can do. I have the RTX 2060 Super. Thanks!

The solution with DDU and nVidia Drivers clean installation seemed to work for me. I explain my situation below:
I hadn't updated my Windows for 1-2 years. Then, I decided to update it. I also updated my nVidia Experience and drivers. After that, I started to get freezes on my PC in games. I found out, that in Adobe Premiere and Desktop the problem is the same. Minidump even not always was created. I start thinking that the problem in Video Card, but on the 5th freeze, minidump was created and there was an unknown error but not "nvlddmkm.sys" or "VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE". I reinstalled Motherboard drivers and nVidia drivers. Freezes in desktop are gone. Also I was able to export video sequence from Adobe Premiere where my Video Card was loaded on 99%, and play in simple games like "League of Legends", "Northgard", "HOMM 3". When I play in serious games like Black Desert Online, World of Tanks, Dead by Daylight, then I face with freezes in certain moments: when the map is loaded and was about to be shown, or when I open inventory in Black Desert Online. The games like" Left 4 Dead 2, HOMM 5, Age Of Empires 2: DE, also cause this error but more rarely. After I face a freeze, I hear that the game still running and I can hear shots and monsters.
So I started to think that the problem not in videocard or Motherboard. I tried "Clean installation" in nVidia Experience, but it didn't helped. I tried to remove Display Driver through Device Manager and let Windows automatically search them on the Internet. Didn't helped. Updated Windows 10 - didn't helped. Found this video. Completed 1 case with DDU and clean installation, and it seemed to help. At least, earlier I could play Black Desert Online maximum 40 minutes, and the average playtime was 15-20 minutes. 3rd day I play 3 hours and 40 minutes and without freezes. Suppose, this helped to solve the problem.

@@irfaankhaan4669 I use MSI 1660 6Gb. Crashes are still exist. On 4th or 6th day, I faced with crash and with each day I face them more often but only when I play the game. I don't understand it. I suppose, that the game use certain techs that make video card to lead certain parts, and there are certain part that make windows crash. For the whole time I played, I can play whenever I want in Northgard and Video Card loads on 33%, but when I launch "Vampire Mansion" that is made with Unreal Engine 5 and loads video card only on 5%, then I can play without any problems, but right after I quit the game, in the next 1-2 minutes, I face with crash. Not in the game, but after the game on desktop. It's very strange. And if I restart my PC right away, then the desktop is still black, until I allow my PC be shut downed for 3-5 minutes.
Someboyd said, that Motherboard went to "Emergency mode" or there are problems with Power, or with Motherboard, but I didn't found anything.

I still can't figure out if it is a software/driver issue, or my GPU is physically dying. On my PC's first start up of the day, it would BSOD after running a game for a few minutes. But after that BSOD and restart, it would be able to run games for hours without crashing. It's like somehow the first BSOD "fixes" whatever the problem is for a while, but once I turn the PC off and come back the next day, this ritual repeats.

Didn't follow this tutorial, didn't open my PC to physically fidget with the GPU. I updated the driver for my motherboard but it did crash for a few more days after that before the crashing stopped itself so i don't think that's what fixed it. I'm currently running a pretty recent Geforce driver 536.40. So even now I still can't tell if my GPU is dying or it was a software problem. If it's GPU dying I don't see how it would suddenly be fine again for 2 weeks straight. On the other hand, it also doesn't make sense for it to be driver issues because I gave up doing anything on the software side, it kept crashing for a while more, and then fixed itself.

I did some of the steps such as updating bios and graphics drivers to latest version (the crash happened on a old nvidia driver released on the 9th may). Ive played a ton of high intensity games today and had no issues, so i dont think my hardware is failing as temps and usage are all normal.
