This broke my heart.. even my mom thought she was going to be replaced.. I told her i would be with her where ever she is and she would say really and I would give her hug and just hold her hand and she would forget it all. Glad you are reassuring her..bless you
Seeing this breaks my heart 😢… She is so afraid and I know it’s the dementia. My Dad had dementia and he went had him at home. The difference was that my Dad would get combative and violent at times. My sisters and I helped my Mom with my Dad. It was overwhelming! It took a toll on my Mom physically and mentally. I pray for Betty as she goes through this terrible disease (dementia). God Bless this family 🙏.
Hi Betty 👋 I have dementia and sun downing too and I know how confusing and emotionally sad it feels. I am almost 60 yrs old and just started this phase. I already have my Reborn dolls that bring me comfort but it's the fears and loneliness feelings I wished would go away. Sending lots of love and hugs 🤗
Apparently some nursing homes will tell people who are sundowning "shhhh, be quiet, you'll wake the baby." That can help because it reassures someone who might not know where they are that they are somewhere safe. If there's a sleeping baby, they must be with loved ones. Frankly, i am all for letting babies be raised for the first few years in or near nursing homes. Let the old people enjoy the little scream potatoes.
My heart goes out to you Betty. You are so sweet. My Mother didn't have dementia, but there were times when she didn't want me to leave her. It just about broke my heart. She went to be with her Lord 6 yrs ago this month at the age of 101. I miss her so much.
Love Mrs Betty thus Broke my Heart for her!! God Bless Her ...His Bless you all too.. hugs Jo Ann age 65..North Florida. 😊😊😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ ❤❤❤❤you all are so Amazing❤❤❤❤!!
My grandma lived her last few years in the nursing home due to a massive stroke. Back then it was the only way to care for someone in that situation. I remember being about 8 years old. The saddest part of the day was late evening. I still remember being in there and the strange feelings I got😞
Unfortunately there are people who would put her in a nursing home, due to the fact they couldn't look after her and handle her. See, even the son gets emotional like mom dose. Son looks after Dementia mom and Stroke Dad. Hard all round!
Give mama lots of love for me big hugs. Oh I lost my parents to your quite a few years back. I've a little bit of disabilities but it don't stop me but I really really miss my parents and all the parents that I see on give Mommy a lot to love. I see, on video, give me lots of love and security. She's afraid she knows she's getting older. I'll be there 1 day soon. I have 3 children, all adults. The More love and hugs physical contact that better. It will help her stay calm eyes. To look look at any eget rid of that contact, keeper viz.Keep her busy, so she don't think too much. Because when we get to certain age, we ever think things sometimes. Lots of love to you all. God bless you and your family.❤❤❤
That just breaks my heart 😢. You take such good care of her and so incredible patience with her. And that's sometimes hard to do. God bless you for not putting her in a home somewhere knowing she wouldn't get the care like your family are giving her.
In my own experiences l find that Mirtazapine combined with prescription only melatonin really does help with sundowning. However its down to the patient...whether they will take their medication or not.
You're such a good and kind care provider of your mother (parents). I have much admiration and respect for you. Thank you for bringing awareness and what to expect in a case like this. ❤

What is sundowning? I’m curious bc it seems sort of like like night time anxiety, and I’ve always gotten anxiety at night for no apparent reason so I feel like I might be able to relate to this feeling a little bit. I wonder why this happens? I never understood why at night I can get scared and feel like something bad is going to happen or like I’m going to be left alone even when I’m not
I didn't have children but if I was able to choose a son, it would be Joshua. God bless him and his parents.
I love that she has a baby to love. Sundowning is so difficult for them. God bless you for constantly reassuring her that she is loved and safe.
Awwww That is so 😔 When Betty Said Don't Leave Me 😢. Betty Has A Beautiful Husband And Son That 💘 Loves And Cares For Her ❤.

Awe that breaks my heart. Love to you Betty.
Is there any medication to calm these tormented souls in the evenings so they don't worry about being abandoned? This is so sad.
