My mom did her student teaching in the Dibble schoolhouse behind the reenactor at 20:13. That was before they moved it to it's current location at Ella Sharp.
Jackson, coney dogs, and candy in the same sentence? And then you had to say chocolate butter finger and rocky road.😊 Thanks for taking the time again to share so much more history and events and people that I never knew existed.
Awesome I’m watching from Manchester Michigan where they are famous for the chicken boil. I just subscribed Saturday, December 21 watching now 1:58 PM so I live pretty close to Jackson.👍👍
Thanks for covering my home town. Another interesting business is Castlers Hardware on, er, Jackson Street. You were across the street in one view. It's totally old school, and it seems the only hardware they don't carry is landing gear for the space shuttles (not really). Jackson is a small city, just the right size.
It’s on my list go to list with all the other places you have journeyed to. I’m surprised you didn’t visit the Parlour for a Dare to be Great ice cream desert. I imagine you and Poppins are saving that for a warm summer evening.
As a youngster (60 years ago), my family would make the 37 mile drive to Jackson to enjoy the Cascade Falls. Thank you Chuck and Poppins for giving me so much more knowledge of a city I rarely visited, even though it is such a short distance away. Now, I will have to visit again.
I have seen the Coney Island Dog place never knew it was famous. I have been to Ted Nugent's Archery Store when it was open. Oldsmobile was in Lansing. I have been to their museum. Battle Creek was the first Capital City. My Great Great Grandfather was the Calhoun County Road Commissioner for many years.
What a beautiful smile on Poppins face to end the video. You can truly see how much she enjoys Christmas. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you both.
Really enjoyed this presentation; I'm a lifelong resident of Jackson County. Todoroffs brought back good memories - had several hotdogs & chili in that same building. Merry Christmas.
Watching you from Wake Island now. You're making me miss the weather up there! This is a super neat island with its history....but it's HOT year-round.
Great video. As a watcher of your episodes it's great to see one done in our town of jackson. Alot of unknown little things around this town. My mom volunteers at the military museum and it was great seeing your visit to jackson showcaseing this little known place. Keep the videos coming.
Great video, I have lived in Jackson all my life and worked at the prison for over 33 years. The prison is now a shell of what it used to be. They used to have flower gardens out front and a hobby craft store where prisoners made items for sale from belts to cedar chests. It was beautifull on the outside but the inside was a different story. I don't think it is haunted but there scary places in there for sure.
I lived and worked in Jackson county all my life and love that you did a piece on the city. If you ever get back there, you should check out Schlenkers burgers on Ganson St. I think you would enjoy that experience.
Welcome to Jackson! We moved here just over 3 years ago as they started to revitalize downtown and have visited some of these locations. Funny thing is, we stood at the library sign in the background as well as sat on it during most of that parade. You two really get around!
Thanks for another amazingly informative video Chuck and Poppins! We all really appreciate all the great work you two do in revealing Michigan history. Merry Christmas!
THAT is just so cool....What a ride...thank you both for this fabulousness! Happy Holidays to you both~! (PS...we got a Carnegie kitty corner from here! So cool to know some history to go with it!)
I'm inspired to do a Hot Dog road trip. Tony Packo's , Toddorof's and Superdog Drive-In.. Toledo ,Jackson and Chicago. Kind of a wiener beltway drive. Merry Christmas, Happy New year!
Wow, I sure appreciate this video 👍👍 i’m glad I just subscribed. I definitely learned a lot today. Appreciate that, well until next time peace and chicken grease😁👍👍👋👋😎
I once found myself in a situation where I had to hitchhike from Detroit to Grand Rapids and someone dropped me off on the highway right near Jackson. It was sprinkling and starting to get dark when I noticed the signs that said, "Prison area. Do not pick up hitchhikers". Fortunately I also saw the sign for the Greyhound bus station and walked about a quarter mile and took the bus to GR. Was that a life saver!
Lived my teens and 20s in Jackson. Moved out around 2010, as did most the people I knew there that could afford to leave. Looks like its coming back a bit, but I'm still glad you didn't stray into the bad areas! The history is cool, but its still a big void when it comes to good jobs for well educated people.
That's what Todoroff "often" gets credit for - inventing the chili dog. 😂😂 The "shit" coney dogs (as you call them) are what many people point to as the "chili dog". 😂😀😂
Wow there was a lot I did not know about Jackson. Honestly pure michigan should sponsor your channel. It's better than under the radar michigan.
I absolutely love the channel. Michigan is such a beautiful state. 🙂
Again, I learned a lot about another area of Michigan. Raised in GR and now live in Marquette. These videos are REALLY enjoyable and educational.

Poppins I love your hat! Where can I get one for my wife???
The hat is decades old, so, unfortunately, I can't remember where I bought it.
I love how you two take 2 and 2 and get somewhere between 1 and 11. 🙂
Wildly filled with excellent information & history. Thanks for the video & adventure. Merry Christmas
Thanks y'all for doing a nice and very informative video on my hometown. Happy Holidays to everyone. Brian from Colorado 🤠
Happy Holidays!
@RestlessViking Thanks that means a lot to me because my family is to far away to visit during Holidays.
Does the extra “C” in the title stand for Coney Dog? 😉. Love your content, keep up the good work guys.
Opps - thanks for the heads up!
Love you guys 👍🏼

Merry Christmas and happy new year Poppin&Chuck.
CANDY BARS!!!
Don't pick up hitchhikers by the prison.
I once found myself in a situation where I had to hitchhike from Detroit to Grand Rapids and someone dropped me off on the highway right near Jackson. Fortunately I also saw the sign for the Greyhound bus station and walked about a quarter mile and took the bus to GR. Was that a life saver!
That prison is very haunted!
Curt’s call sign was of course………Hot Dog?
🙂

Cony dogs are shit. You should talk about chili dogs which did originated in Michigan.

Thanks for another great video Chuck and Poppins, we all learn more and more about our state through your adventures! Merry Christmas to both of you!
